New Stage Design
-
Hoping for a cool new stage set... The 1989-90 stage, with that 'grid' design and the similarly colorful '93 set, were very striking and memorable. 2002 stage was just okay... 2005 stage was really cool and modern.... But everything since has been very generic looking... I know most people don't attend Paul gigs for the technical stuff, but I'm into it. The stage definitely could use some updating.... Hoping the rumors of a new design are true.... I guess we'll find out in a couple weeks.

thanks for sharing that! Obviously that stage sounds like it will be too large for the indoor shows, if it takes up half of the field! . So there has to be a smaller version of it.

Sure! I'll use the same camera from previous concerts. Here are some examples, how do you like them? http://twitpic.com/photos/carloshachem

I was surprised when I read that statement, and I believe that's an exaggeration. If the stage really took up half of the field, that would have a negative impact on ticket sales, as the number of people on the field would be much lower than in previous years. And considering that 52,000 tickets were sold for the May 04 concert, the stage cannot be really that big. Maybe the source means there will be some sort of catwalk that stretches through the field? After all, the initial reports mentioned a "platform that will allow Paul to get closer to the fans".

very nice...

Yeah, I can't imagine it taking up half the field, but based off seating charts I've seen for nearly every show, something is definitely different in shape.

The indoor stage is always smaller than the outdoor stage. They have to be. The stages in 89, 93, and 2005 were pretty dramatic, though I remember 2002 also having a LOT of video screens. Since 2009 it has been pretty straight forward, with a lot of big screens behind the stage and on the sides. All variations on a theme. The challenge to make it NEW is big, as Paul has been playing out every year since 2009. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Still, Paul IS the show, IMO.

Well, as Lonely Road suggested in another thread...maybe he will do this. We should put this one in the rumor thread...maybe Paul was working with cirque? Check it:

Sorry, I think I died of laughter thinking about Paul doing this. I don't know... Just was a really funny thought. I'm all for it.
