from what I have read on Facebook.. alot of people weren't aware of the gap... they just heard of a platform... lots of disappointed folks.. everyone wants to know how much further back we are than previous tours~ first row isn't first row... apparently from the pics more like 3rd -4th... than this cascades from 2-3rd 4-th etc to be even further sign~
It's a bit of a surprise, that's for sure. I'm going to suggest again that folks who are upset write to MPL and alert them to this thread so they can see the feedback. The more concerts that happen on this tour, the more feedback, either positive, ambivalent, or negative about the new stage.
kinda nervous .. ( which I'm usually not ) to write MPL.... if we did will they see this as us being trouble makers is my first thought?
I forget who already wrote to them about this, but if you scroll back a page or two, someone did, and MPL's reply was that they'd heard no complaints so far. This may have empowered them to blow off the concern. However, if they saw that it's not an isolated complaint...suddenly they might take it seriously. I don't see them changing the entire stage around for the rest of the tour, mind you, as it's be costly. However, it might help them to decide to scrap it for the next leg of the tour (which will hopefully land in the UK and other parts of the world he's been ignoring lately ).
good point... hum?... I don't see any reason why they just don't take that dang platform out? it's portable right? does it really need to be there? or maybe Mr McCartney wants to be further from the fans? ops:

I'm going to write MPL now...

I went all out and bought 2nd row seats on ebay for his Ottawa show. I'm disappointed to read about how the stage is further back from front row than normal. I really want an autograph, do you think if I have an LP and wave it at him at the end of the show that he might sign it? I think I saw him do that in a concert dvd and I want to try!
-
A friend and I each wrote an email separately and sent them to MPL today. She included a link to this thread in her email. Neither of us have a reply yet and maybe we won't receive one. At least we have spoken our peace and put it "out there"....so to speak. I think we all know it's unlikely anything will change, but if you don't ask, you never know. I think they should know that this is a concern for most of the people who purchased VIP tix. As others said, it may not change now, but maybe they will consider it for other legs of the tour and we can help out others down the road.

It looks like three to four rows are lost due to that platform. Really, it just depends on how you approach the situation. Unless you paid a lot for first or second row, does it really matter? Probably not. But if I paid $2000 to be in the front row, to me that would be about five feet from the stage. I would not be happy.
It does matter to me, I saved up for 2 3rd row seats, We didn't know about this gap when we bought our VIP tickets. I could have saved alot of money & bought seats on the side. The reason behind buying premium priced seats up front,is to be closer to the stage ! to be closer to Paul ! His stage design people must know this.... You know Paul knows this !! It's like they designed it to keep his fans away from him
Well said! Captures my feelings exactly! I had always dreamed of getting a VIP package, but my requirement was that they had to be 3rd row center (maybe 4th row, but nothing further back). It never worked out until this tour. I either didn't have the money or the best seats were already taken. I bought them expecting 3rd row to be the usual distance away from the stage. That and sound check combined were worth $1500 to me. The platform alters that calculation.

Ok I just wrote MPL.. infused some humor... will Paul be a . in the 20th row...? I didn't say that per se... but I did mention Paul and dots... I did mention Facebook & PM.com

You should bring a 10 foot pole with you with a sign attached to it. When he goes up on the platform, raise the sign up: "Down in front!"

I'm the one that sent an email to MPL and got a response within a day. It appeared to have come from the UK office so you might expect a delay due to time difference. I did reply and directed them to the thread here as well to show that there are in fact a lot of complaints and unhappy fans. My email was not in an aggressive tone, it was simply expressing great disappointment that the new stage pushes back the audience further. And since there has only been five dates so far for this tour I am not surprised they are saying there has not been any complaints. So yeah, email MPL! How else would they know there are unhappy ticket holders?

I wrote them a lovely letter. not aggressive, but with concerns and some humor added also... I wonder if this is their secret way for punishing people complaining about the Premium membership~ j/k .....

just my thoughts, right now as Paul, usually interacts with those front rows pretty much .. but if he is so far back.. 1. we won't be having that personal experience~ as before...
Paul still interacts with the people in the front floor rows and he sees farther back than you might think (he always has done).
-
MY HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!! I remember when the Beatles had to play for ppl in the round..like they would turn and play to the ppl on the sides and the back. Poor Ringo had to move his drum kit! I think Paul should forget about that stage that goes up and play on a run way , so more ppl can see him in those front rows. won't 'cause I always have the nose bleed seats!! Keep the VIP ppl happy, Paul!! :

Almost similar personal experience, It's hard to compare but my guess is your back about 3 rows. Paul had no problem seeing Fans On The Run and a couple of other regulars

Correct.

Paul knows the "regulars". He looks for them. He called them the "regulars" in St. Louis. What if you are not one of the "regulars" and are doing your once in a lifetime show?

He also looks for new faces. He looks at everyone who is down front, he really does. Remember that all of the "regulars" were new faces, too, once upon a long ago.

haven't heard from MPL... nice.... has anyone else?

Susie, you wouldn't be rolling your eyes if you paid $1500-$2000 bucks
-
That's not susie but anyway...that 1500-2000 also includes the soundcheck, right? Don't they print that on the ticket? I forgot how mine read...250 for the seat & the rest was for the soundcheck & meal? How do they break it down & justify it? I forget. ps...I'd be pissed too though. But what can ya do? *shrugs*

These are terrible quality and difficult to compare angles but... London 2011 Orlando 2013 Doesn't look like a massive difference really
Although the new platform does add a bit more distance between the first row and the stage, I think these pictures posted previously in the thread show that it might not be quite as far as it seems at first.
