I think the gap is just more noticeable now because there is something there drawing our attention to it...
Not true-that is a huge difference compared to all his other concerts I've been to.
Were you in Orlando last night?
I wasn't in Orlando last night but would agree that the gap looks much larger than at past concerts. Guess I'll know for sure when I'm at the show in July (WHOOOO!).
-
the stage is 10-15 ft. back... according to an article I just read... usually it's what 5-6 feet?
-
I only ask because I'm reading from a lot of people on facebook that were up front, and are up front quite a lot, that the gap is no different than usual and really just brings Paul closer to those in the front when he comes out onto the platform.
-
WixRocks!, that is a relief to hear! The only real evidence of what it's like can be told by those who have experienced it first hand.
-
yes, having been on the front on the floor many times 10-15 ft is a huge difference for an entire gig, with the exception of platform rising for 2 songs.. which are quiet & not Giant rockers... which would be cool.... I dunno ...getting a mixed bag of reviews about .. stage distance.. we'll see.. being up close & personal is much better .. if you are used to this from past tours~

Of course, it's all in the eyes of the beholder! But I trust those that have been to dozens of shows more than others. I'm thrilled to be in the tenth row this summer. It's the closest I've ever been regardless of the size of the gap so bring it on Paul!

Ticketmaster had an interactive seating chart for Memphis up for a short time. It was different than the seating chart during the pre-sale. I bought an aisle seat on purpose because I'm short. That way I can stand a little (or all the way if the usher is nice) in the aisle and be able to see. If the first five rows have no aisle between the sections then that "gap" is not there and I won't be able to see. Plus that wall in front looks kind of high. Would a 5 foot tall person be able to see over it????

The tour name is fine...because you are really "out there"

The following is courtesy of the "Examiner" and Bob Gannon: http://www.examiner.com/article/out-there-news-orlando-part-2-mccartney-makes-minor-setlist-change
[Bob] Gannon talked about the new rising stage made for the tour, which has gotten some pre-show buzz from fans. ?The stage adds about another 10-15 feet from it to the first row. So you're a little further back, but not all that much. It's only during two songs 'Blackbird' and 'Here Today.' But when he moves to the front stage and tells the story behind 'Blackbird,' he is actually closer than he's ever been to the first row. I was in the fourth row and I felt like I could reach out and grab him. ?Now, as the stage rises, it does make it a little tough to see Paul with the lights in your eyes, but it almost gives him a celestial glow, a very cool effect. Not sure how it looked from the back seats, but cool from my vantage point.
Thanks, Bob...I'm really looking forward to seeing that...

Correction...they only use the platform for 2 songs but you are still 10-15' further back for the entire concert. They don't move you up 10'. Right?

I was looking at pictures from previous tours and found that the Coachella show (April 2009) had the same space between the stage and first row as this tour. And that show didn't have an ascending stage.
Could you post the photos you looked at for the Coachella show? I think that would help allay some fears folks are having about the distance with this new stage. I've been up close to the stage before for indoor Paul shows, and the picture I posted from Orlando yesterday shows a MUCH bigger gap than previous indoor shows. The only other outdoor gig I've been close to the stage for had barely any gap, but that was the Halifax show. We were basically right next to the stage with a minimal gap, but it was standing only, so maybe that made the difference?

For those 2-3 songs out of the 30+ songs he plays...
