If waves were all that existed, unfortunately there would be no substance to reality and all that we would be is...audio and visual holograms.
"waves and vibrations" All vibrates, oscilates, spins round, etc. Like heat is a vibration, for instance. Colours are waves, etc. Sounds are waves... call it holograms or perception. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matter_wave "Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter." Albert Einstein http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/161207-concerning-matter-we-have-been-all-wrong-what-we-have Wave/particle "duality", even electrons are waves. http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/quantumzone/debroglie.html wiki: "Through the work of Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Louis de Broglie, Arthur Compton, Niels Bohr, and many others, current scientific theory holds that all particles also have a wave nature (and vice versa).[2] This phenomenon has been verified not only for elementary particles, but also for compound particles like atoms and even molecules"
So this is interesting... I take it then this concept is equal to visible and non visible light wavelengths, for example? I was just was listening to Mike Campbell, explain how how he sees colors, when listening to music, and how his different guitars paint different colors for songs! And more complex, he explained how the band paints complimentary colors, when everything becomes in synch, or in mixing a song. Thought that was so facinating... Do I have the correct interpretation of this perception concept of energy waves, by Einstein?

funny that just before writing this, the radio here is playing Katrina AND THE WAVES, lol. Well, there are people who kind of see colour when listening to music and similar things https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia I don't know if that's related to waves or not. Certainly every note is a different wave. And any musical instrument has a signature wave, etc. The "kind of sound" is just the kind of wave. Some musical styles and instruments can be related to colours... like any genre of art. But I don't know if synesthesia is about that. For instance, Red and black are about anger, passion, and even crime etc. It's the colour of heavy metal and the colour of movies about crime. Movie directors know this and that kind of movies are dark and black, think the Godfather. Same for painters, etc. Etc. I don't know what exactly Einstein meant... I just quote Einstein, Bohr and Planck cause SurSteven might consider their opinions. As I said I'm not with science theories... but when talking with a scientist the way to explain what I believe to them is better done if I find some scientist believing in kind of the same. It's kind of a translator. It's all the same really (like when in Star Trek said all the languages are all the same deep in the brains so they have Universal Translators)... so they're searching for an Unifying theory of everything. Science, art, religion, it's all bout the same really... As this is about science, I'll quote "Uncle Albert,". Einstein talked a lot bout religion. "All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree. All these aspirations are directed toward ennobling man's life, lifting it from the sphere of mere physical existence and leading the individual towards freedom."

Black absorbs all color waves and does not reflect them back. White is the combination of all color. When white light is shown through a prism it is divided into the various colored waves of the visible light spectrum. When people use the terms white and black to describe skin color, they are absolutely 1,000% in error. All people are colored. Even the lightest skinned albinos and the darkest skinned negroes do not come close to what is pure white and pure black.Red is a longer wave than blue is. There are more blue waves in a centimeter than there are red waves. More waves per centimeter represent more binaric information. This, ironically is evident in politics where Democrats are blue and Republicans are red. As far as waves go, radio waves can be converted into sound waves and vice versa. A wave is a wave is a wave is a wave as particles are particles are particles and energy is energy. And what we observe around us with our senses and finer senses is a highly varied hybridization of these 3 basic realities. Blue Light The visible blue light has a wavelength of about 475 nm. Because the blue wavelengths are shorter in the visible spectrum, they are scattered more efficiently by the molecules in the atmosphere. This causes the sky to appear blue. Red Light The visible red light has a wavelength of about 650 nm. At sunrise and sunset, red or orange colors are present because the wavelengths associated with these colors are less efficiently scattered by the atmosphere than the shorter wavelength colors (e.g., blue and purple). A large amount of blue and violet light has been removed as a result of scattering and the longwave colors, such as red and orange, are more readily seen. http://science-edu.larc.nasa.gov/EDDOCS/Wavelengths_for_Colors.html

"Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter." Albert Einstein Matter and energy are the same thing in different states. This is what E=mc2 implies. The only difference between them is c2 which is the velocity of light times it's self Concerning, White and Black and the Colour Spectrum, there is another premise that doesn't seem to get contemplated or talked about much. CLARITY...This is the 'color' of energy to me. If you were to take a small dense black particle mass and convert it into pure energy it would appear as a large sphere of invisible activity, detectable only by the way that light is refracted through it like the heat rising off a desert and creating mirages. Halfway through this conversion process we would see all of the colors of the rainbow and more displayed. Like what is going on in the current Big Bang process of our immediate universe.

Zero Point Energy The relative motions of large particle systems like solar systems constitute a field of potential energy. The relative motions of atom particle systems constitute a field of potential energy. If we were to FREEZE all particle motion at these levels. The ZPEF would be that field of finer particles one step down in size below atoms.

contemplating these ideas Steven! Have been visiting friends and will have some questions for you soon Especially about the zero point energy field Finally saw most of Episode 6. Excellent!! They all are! http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/1606/surv1_lro_thumb.png WOW!!!

Thanks for posting all of this info! Have been watching the Genius series by Hawking, which has been very eye opening, yet put into a very understandable explanation, for most people! For example, in the episode 6 there was a demonstration of a laser on shore shined out onto a seemingly flat lake. As the boat went further from shore, on the seemingly "flat" lake...when measured, the known level laser, showed a water level significantly lower due to the curvature of the Earth. That was shocking to me. As well as an earlier episode, explaining parallel universe combinations. The numbers are just astounding to someone like myself, a non physics student! You have a lot of good information in these posts, which I'll follow up on. Short of going back to school, I'm trying to understand the basic concepts, minus the formulas, which are complex if one is not in school with a professor. Am particularly interested in the zero-point energy field, because of Tesla's ideas and the potential as a game changer in the impact to our planet! Hopefully Hawking could explain this with the same clarity as he did with other subjects on the shows.
Yes! After watching the laser over the lake it made me realize something. The earth is actually round and flat as well. Imagine balancing a cd case flatly on top of a basketball. It's easy to see why the laser is straight and the lake was curved. Yet, there is another curious thing involved. If we were around 5 inches tall and standing balanced on top of the cd and basketball, the earth would be flat and round as well. If we were to draw an invisible vertical line down through our center of gravity and then draw an intersecting horizontal line below our feet at the point of balance and along the flat horizontal plane of the cd case, the earth would be flat to us precisely at and wherever we were standing on the surface of a round object, such as earth. Do you see what I mean?
-
I do understand what you are saying in terms of the Earth seeming to be flat to us, wherever we are, yet that experiment showed the Earth was curved in a ratio that really surprised me! Especially the bit with the helicopter!! because of gravity, we are "flat" on the earth, wherever we are. Yet our perception of flatness is a perception, and not a reality. I'm going to be looking for examples of roundness, I've realized that I can see it from a plane, which is logical, but to be on terra firma, I've ignored examples... For example driving to Colorado, and watching the mountains get larger and larger, the closer you get! Also, sitting on the shore and watching boats disappear!

^ "I'm going to be looking for examples of roundness" Ya, I do that too at times!

Albert Einstein Matter and energy are the same thing in different states. This is what E=mc2 implies. The only difference between them is c2 which is the velocity of light times it's self
So we could call it matter-energy or energy-matter, just like wave-particle. The same old thing, fussion of opposite, yes and no, high and low, "The answer to it all" as Paul says. But if matter-energy begun as energy then it's what Einstein said. But Einstein was philosophically an idealist, kind of like Plato, it's very likely that he rather think matter didn't exist, like he believed in determinism. A materalistic will say the opposite, "there is no energy, it's only matter turn into invisible state"
Concerning, White and Black and the Colour Spectrum, there is another premise that doesn't seem to get contemplated or talked about much. CLARITY...This is the 'color' of energy to me. Clarity would be the kind of energy you have, "the kind of vibe" Paul say. Only clarity implies "good vibe"/"high energy" or whatever the name. Inspiration, seeing things as they are. Maybe we all have a Big Bang inside of us or so. That turns into the holographic thing: "The whole is equal to the part" "all is conected" A thing I don't understand much is that physicists said people got it wrong when they think Big Bang was something that happened in a "particular place and moment" but is really a constant thing in all space and in all time. ... About the part equal to the whole. This Da Vinci explanation is.... quite deep! "Nothing is that which fills no space. If one single point placed in a circle may be the starting point of an infinite number of lines, and the termination of an infinite number of lines, there must be an infinite number of points separable from this point, and these when reunited become one again; whence it follows that the part may be equal to the whole." Today we could say... the part is equal to the whole with the Internet metaphor: Every Pc (Or iphone or whatever....) is "the part", the internet is "the whole". Every Pc has all the Internet inside, and the Internet has all the pcs inside or so. It's that kind of thought, or so... Funny that hundreds of years ago there was a similar metaphor in buddhism "the Indra's net" (probably "Internet"'s name is inspired in that) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indra%27s_net

Aka the "quantum vacuum". And I still don't get it, not much info about it.

There have always been examples... these are one of the ways some found out the Earth was not flat thousand of years ago... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spherical_Earth I remember some to be very explanatory like "climbing higher to see further" "the top a ship is the last part to be seen when it parts" etc.

all this about "materialistic/idealistic" wave/particle, energy/matter may seem complicate but it's nothing but the old thing bout "half empty/half full" bottle.

Describing what it actually is simplifies it, not complicates it. As for particles, waves and energy. Imagine a futbol/soccer ball to represent a particle. Let's put the ball particle in the middle of a swimming pool and let it float there. Now, let's take a big sound speaker pointed at the ball with the volume (energy) turned up and pluck on a bass guitar through it. Invisible sound waves will travel to the ball and cause it to vibrate. As it vibrates, it will cause visible waves to ripple outward in a circle (radiate) from the ball particle on the water surface and spherically through the rest of the water and into the air. Energy as the invisible field of activity is being transferred through the waves and causing the ball particle and the particles of water and the particles of air to ripple and vibrate and continue the wave creation until the energy stops and is absorbed.

Wow...I have a lot of reading to catch up on!! Read this on the Indra net page. Thought it was a good analogy "Imagine a multidimensional spider's web in the early morning covered with dew drops. And every dew drop contains the reflection of all the other dew drops. And, in each reflected dew drop, the reflections of all the other dew drops in that reflection. And so ad infinitum. That is the Buddhist conception of the universe in an image." -Alan Watts

^ Have wondered before, that if we were to record a continual series of incoming ocean waves over a long period of time, and then speed them up to the speed of sound...what would the series of varied waves sound like?
-
A choo choo train? The constant of waves on the shore through history... Have you noticed that sitting listening to waves at the ocean, is so relaxing...have thought that is because of a harmonious sound buried deep in our primitive brain. We can be at one with that sound... Now, SurSteven, what is the correct answer?! lol

Music and ocean waves soothe the savage primal brained beast. I remember watching a video once where Michio Kaku said that the human brain evolved/grew/progressed forward from the basic primal brain to the frontal lobes...which have to do with our feelings. The Spirit of Life and Love must have instilled in us these basic feelings to begin with. Does that sound correct enough?!

see how they called it "World Wide Web", kind of the same as the Indra's net... so Internet...
