VIP Packages
-
Are they worth it? We're seriously considering doing one at National's Park since our travel and hotel expenses are nonexistent. I usually hear that Front Row Package puts you on the end of the row and is not really worth the $2000 Hot Sound always gets great reviews but $1500 is still a lot... What's the story on Gold & Silver packages? Where are those seats? And are they any better than just buying the regular seats?
-
Don't know anything about Silver, but Gold tickets are $650 and gets you as close as 7th row. I was 8th row in an arena in St. Louis and while I didn't have to pay $650, to be that close for Live and Let Die alone is worth $650 in my book. I'm sure it's a great seat in a stadium as well. I would personally get a gold ticket.

I always ended up front row, paid normal tickets, got 1.-10.row and ran to the stage. the special thing for me with vip tickets is the soundcheck. if you are only interested in good tickets, I would buy them regular. ( or is it so much more difficult in the US getting good tickets?)

Yes. For Paul, most of them are part of the VIP packages already. And in the US, most venues don't allow you to rush to the stage the way it's done in Europe and the UK. You can stand up, but you can't move out of your row or stand in the aisles. Soundcheck is definitely worth doing if you can swing it, it's a special treat. I've also had Gold seats, most of them are very good, esp. in arenas. But I was in a stadium once where I was waaay on the side and it didn't seem like I was really in the 8th row, or whatever the seat was. It seemed like I was much farther away.

If at all possible I would do a Front Row package in an arena rather than a stadium. I have done both and in an arena there are fewer people at the sound check making it much more intimate. Also, you will be much closer to Paul (although I go the shows just for Abe! LOL!) in the front row at an arena than at a stadium show. 23 shows and counting... Washington, DC 7/12/2013...

I guess front row package in europe is about 700 EUR. obviously it is cheaper to buy that plus flight for US citizens than the US front row packages. I have booked hot sound in vienna, which includes soundcheck and early entrance to the general admission golden circle standing area. sounds cool.

So Gold got you 8th row? Have you ever gotten closer with it? Thanks for all responses btw

If you can do VIP with the soundcheck...DO IT. You'll never regret it! I prefer Hot Sound over Front Row because I like being in the center. But, if you can't...I would recommend looking up the regular presale and gold package simultaneously when tickets go on sale. I've gotten better seats for $250 with the regular presale than they offer with the gold ticket. It all depends on the venue and which seats they decide to allocate for each.

Good idea, I didn't think to run two pages at once. Thanks!

You're welcome! I just like to know my options. If I pull up a GREAT seat for $250...it's a lot harder to justify spending $1500 for soundcheck Buuuut, if the presale selection is crappy, it's nice to already have great VIP seats in the cart ready to check out. But, I still say if it's within your means to do VIP, go for it and don't look back!

Definitely. I want to have alllll bases covered (pun very much intended) for this National's Park gig. No travel expenses to worry about, so we're going big!

I wonder why VIP packages are different in each country/continent? Just out of curiosity, here is what a Hot Sound package is like in Brazil: http://event.etix.com/ticket/online/viewPerformanceGroup.jsp?group_id=201&language=en&country=US&cobrand=mccartneysa

That's awesome! The closest I've been has been Row 20 at Yankee Stadium...I've never done a package tho. Think I'll take the "try 'em both" method!

My only gripe about soundcheck is that they keep you so far back. Wix, have you seen some of the videos? There are quite a few around. Here is a cute one from 2011 Yankee Stadium:
It IS VERY COOL BUT...At stadiums you are like 40 rows back. I had 4th row center for the actual show though. -
