Elie Wiesel has passed. I read his book at the age of 12, and the contents have always stuck with me.
Same here. Haunting. Should be mandatory reading at school.

We read The Diary of a Young Girl. I guess they thought that was good enough.

Did you mean "The Diary of Ann Frank," Hailey Mc.? Marnie Nixon, "the voice behind the blockbusters" including singing for Hepburn in "My Fair Lady" and Julie Andrews in "The Sound of Music" (I think) has died at age 86, she was also the mother of musician Andrew Gold. I think he passed away too, years ago. Gold Wrote "Thank You For Being A Friend" theme song for The Golden Girls among other hits Marni Nixon also did the vocals for Natalie Wood in "West Side Story." Not sure if she did that for Julie Andrews--Andrews can sing, herself.

This thread makes me sad If you knew you were going to die...what would you do? Well, we all are going to die, so time to start tackling that "bucket list"

No. Absolutely no. Julie Andrews was an accomplished singer long before she ever stepped foot in front of a camera. Here she is at 12 years old:
She was the original Eliza Doolittle on Broadway, but Audrey Hepburn played the part in the movie. That's who Marni Nixon sang for. Not Julie Andrews. But she did have a small part in The Sound of Music. And I meant The Diary of a Young Girl. That's the title I read. -

What's the time frame? If you're going to die tomorrow, there's not much you can do. If you're going to die in a year, you can do a lot. The problem isn't dying, it's how much living we waste.

Thankfully, don't have a timeframe ...You're right, although, if I knew a comet was going to strike Earth, or the Sun was going to suddenly melt the polar areas, I'd quit my job, sell my house and just travel as much as I could 5 weeks a year doesn't seem enough! Will try to not waste living!

The trouble with a doomsday scenario like that it that everybody would be going bat$hit and start rioting and looting. I doubt if you'd be able to sell your house let alone travel anywhere safely. Definitely do that if you find out you have a terminal disease but still have a few good years to live! I would!

You're probably right Nancy! I don't know why people would act like that...but now that you mentioned it...sadly realize some people probably would. Kind of like a Zombies movie!! You'd be hiding out from the Zombies instead ![](http://www.gomotes.com/emoticon/zombie.gif[/img] [img]http://www.gomotes.com/emoticon/zombiewalkleft.gif"/> A guy I know has an underground bunker built, with guns, food and water! Hope it doesn't come to that! Yikes!!!

If a comet or zombie apocalypse hit the world 5,000 years ago, everyone would die without knowing what happened. If it happened 1,000 years ago, everyone would say it was God's wrath. If it happened 100 years ago, everyone would blame their political enemies. If it happens today, everyone will post about it on Facebook.
