Also RIP Bill Russell, who died today at age 88.

Vin Scully, the voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers for decades, and arguably the greatest baseball announcer who ever lived, has died at age 94. He was the voice of my childhood, listening to Dodger games on my little transistor radio. The outpouring of love for him on social media tonight has been quite something. People feel like they've lost a close friend -- and they have.

Bruce...I hear what you are saying. Growing up outside of Philadelphia I was a big Phillies fan. When you said that you remember listening to Vince Skully and the Dodgers on the transister radio I was doing the same thing when I was young listening to Bill Campbell (the baseball voice in Philly) and the Phillies. Bill wasn't as nationally known as Vince Skully but he had a great voice. When I was young my favorite player was Richie Allen (later became more known as Dick Allen). When Dick Allen would hit a "long" home run, Bill would get so excited on the radio. Dick was a tremendous athlete from a little town in Western Pennsylvania and unfortunately when the Phillies signed him in the late 50's they mistakenly sent him to Little Rock Arkansaw for his first "minor leage" experience. Dick was a young Black athlete from the rural Pittsburgh area who had never experienced blatent racism before. It messed him up and he was never the same. He was misunderstood with the press and had a rocky career because of what he saw down South at the time. Still with all of his personal problems, he had a good career later with the Cardinals, Dodgers and White Sox I believe. He should of made the Hall of Fame because he had so much talent. I remember Willie Mays saying that he was one of the best young players he had ever seen
Dick Allen died a couple of years ago and Bill Cambell died about 10 years ago. I know exactly what you are feeling today. I was a big baseball and basketball fan during my youth and to watch all these Baseball stars from the 60's dying (e.g. Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock etc) is tough. Just the other day, hearing that Bill Russell died at 88 was equally as tough. I became a Boston Celtic fan because of him. Bill was the smartest Basketball player I ever saw. He was a natural "coach" on the court. I think they won about 11 Championships back in the day and I was a fan because of the way they played as a "team.
Sorry for going off on a few tangents but I feel your pain today.

Speaking of basketball greats, I was on the same flight as Wilt Chamberlain once. Sadly, he died at age 63 in 1999.
RIP to all.

John Eastman has passed away! Linda's brother, born in 1939. Just turned 83 on July 10th.

My dear brother-in-law, John Eastman, has passed away. Having known each other for over 50 years it is an extremely sad time for me, and our families.
John was a great man. One of the nicest and smartest people I have had the good luck to have known in my life.
Not only did he help me massively in my business dealings as my lawyer but as a friend he was hard to beat.
His sense of humour always shone through in everything he did and his devotion to his family was supreme.
We had so many fun times together through the years, but when the time came to be serious, he was unbeatable.
There is so much more that can be said of his incredible qualities, but words can hardly describe his passion for life and our affection for this amazing man. He will be sorely missed but always held dear in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him.
See ya Johnny!
Love Paul

'so sad! Anne was a highly underrated actress. She also had "comedic" skills. Anne made me laugh so hard in her "6Days, 7 Nights film with Harrison Ford.
