RIP...for all that have passed

I absolutely adored her. She had such a beautiful voice, was an excellent songwriter and was a pretty good musician. She seemed to be the one in the group that could get along with everyone, including her ex-husband, John McVie -lol. It is kind of funny how a car commercial using her song "Everywhere" gave he some publicity recently. I really enjoyed the Buckingham/McVie album and her song "Carnival Begin was one of my favorites. I guess she will mostly be remembered for writing "You Make Loving Fun" from "Rumours" but I thought "Oh Daddy" was just as good. I know most guys thought Stevie Nicks was the sexy female in the group, but IMO Christine McVie was not bad on the eyes either. True to her personality, she passed away quietly with most of the world having no idea she was ill. RIP.

@yankeefan2 Yes, it's very sad. Stevie said she didn't even know that she was sick.

Stevie wrote Christine a note after she passed:

One of the most beautiful songs Christine has ever written for the band was from the Rumours album in 1977. "Songbird" is considered to be the greatest song Christine has ever written and is the song that Mick, John, Lindsey and Stevie chose to end the show.
-
I agree with you 100%, incredibly beautiful song. I thought Fleetwood Mac ending concert with that song was pretty cool and different especially with all the "rocker" type songs they could have chosen.

It was a very appropriate way to end the show. In 1977, relationships within the band, Lindsey and Stevie breaking up, John and Chistine breaking up and Mick and Jenny breaking up, what should have been the greatest time in their lives would turn out to be their worse! Rumours from 1977 would become one of the band's most successful albums ever as well as one of the greatest albums of all time! Despite all of the breakups, Christine would dig deep down within her broken heart and write a message, in a song, as a last effort, to Mick, Lindsey, Stevie and John to say she loved them all! "Songbird" would be the result and is one of the most beautiful songs indeed!

Bob McGrath from Sesame Street. This was a tough one for me, as being from the Gen X generation, I grew up on the show along with Mister Rogers. I got to meet him about 5 years ago, such a kind and wonderful person he was.

Hi oobu! I really like Kirstie Alley especially when she was in the TV series Cheers! I saw her on Dancing With the Stars some years back, she was partners with Maksim Chmerkovskiy! She wasn't the greatest dancer in the world but she was sure trying to be the greatest cougar by putting Maksim on a leash!

@jl4761 Yes, she died too young.

Once upon a wild time, she had a very healthy cocaine problem! It does not surprise me at all that she died young!

She died of cancer John. ️

@njr And "young"? She was 71 ( I think) not really young in my opinion. But I loved cheers, especially Cliff Claven. And "Nammy".

Colon Cancer to be exact Nancy, however, her healthy drug problem in the past may have taken a toll on her obese body especially after she quit using drugs. With her being overweight, it didn't help.

You answered the wrong person. It was oobu24 who said she was young. FWIW, I also think 71 is too young to die!

Okay, you’re correct, obesity and cocaine use can contribute to developing colon cancer. I didn’t know that was the type of cancer she had.
-
@wandy No, she wasn't young. But that is too young to die.
-
@njr Yeah me too especially as I'm only 4 years away from 71. But I still think "young" is under 40.

It became official that it was colon cancer, how sad.

@jl4761 See below, I think you will enjoy. Linda Eder has a beautiful voice and it is a shame she is not better known outside of the Broadway community. First saw her in 1997 when she was in the Broadway show "Jekyll & Hyde", and she was wonderful. Actually, got to meet her after the show (long story for another day). She never did another Broadway show again, decided to be recording artist. Saw her in concert a couple of times since 1997 and she is still fantastic. Click link and enjoy her short tribute to Christine McVie.
