the wife and I are in New York for 10 days and are going to the show, but am slightly worried about getting to and from Yankee Stadium from Manhattan, were staying in a hotel near Rockerfella Plaza...Anyone know if there's a safe and easy way back and forth from there...and for that matter will there be anybody else doing the same thing...Don;t really wanna fork out huge amounts of cash on cab rides!!! cheers Rich
You can get a train direct from Grand Central.
Are the trains pretty frequent? and how long a journey is it, 5mins-10mins-20mins? don;t wanna be stranded in the Bronx on a saturday night if I'm honest...
You've got a really wrong image of the Bronx! Anyway, the train from Grand Central should be about 20-25 minutes on the 4.
It wasn't a slur against the Bronx, had the show been anywhere I would've said, "dont fancy being stranded in "........" on a saturday night. Was just hopeful of a bit more info regarding trains to and from Yankee Stadium, I should have said don't want to miss the train back to Manhattan and end up paying $$$$$ for a Cab back.
You won't miss the train back to Manhattan. First of all, the NYC subway runs 24 hours a day. Second of all, MTA will be running trains back to Manhattan more frequently than usual because of the show. So don't worry! Just make sure to have a loaded Metrocard ready because there are bound to be long lines at the ticket machines.

peteooooo I didn't get a chance to read your post before I left for the show. Funny, I wound up at PD O'Hurleys on W 72nd. A few pints of Harp and I was ready for the show. I thought they sounded real good, loved the orchestra.

Take the number "4" train from Grand Central (Lexington Avenue) line. There is also a stop on 59th St and Lexington avenue if that is a shorter walk for you. Trust me, the subway is safe and there will be plenty of police in the area that night to ensure there is no problems. The number "4" train is a express train and will drop you right off at the Stadium and it is a short walk from the subway to Stadium. My advice is to make sure you have alread bought a subway fare card before you go to the show.

I second this. The 4 is one of the safest lines (and it's also more reliably air conditioned since the cars are newer!). You'll be fine. Alternatively, you can take the 6 and then transfer, but the 4 is faster b/c it's express.

Really appreciate the help, Train it is .......One small query, having used the subway only once last year. Where do i purcahse a "Metrocard" from and would I need one each for us? and as an estimate how much would you reccomend i put on it for a return journey to the stadium from grand central....apologies for the dumb questions, but We're from South Wales and our only transport as far as trains are concerned require buying an individual ticket that takes you one way and back, there is no swiping it in a booth and credit needed for it like the tubes in London!!!! sorry!!!!!

^^^I also don't live in NYC, so every help is appreciated. I learned all about the subway and buses in NYC here: www.mta.info

Hey guys any tips for navigating around Yankee Stadium, I'm coming in from out of town and staying at the Days Inn nearby.
-
We are staying at the Days Inn, too. I suggest getting there early to avoid traffic (if you are driving) issues around 4pm. Everytime we have driven to NY, there is always traffic issues but seems to be worse around 4pm when people are starting to get out of work. This is also a FRIDAY which seems to be worse. We plan on arriving about 1pm to grab something to eat then go over to the Stadium to wait for Paul to come in for the soundcheck which is typically about 4-5pm. I was told that the hotel is about 3/4 of a mile from the stadium so an easy walk; 12-15 mins. or so. I so hope we don't get rain. That concert Paul did on night one at Citifield, we had rain for about an hour. Luckily, it was not a major downpour. I suggest rain slickers as they usually do not allow umbrellas. Though they told us NO UMBRELLAS at Citifield, we saw a few people who somehow got in with them anyway.

Has anyone who bought tickets through CrowdSurge gotten any notification that the tickets have shipped? Since we're just about 2 weeks from the show, they should be shipping any day now, right?
-
Just got an email saying that my CrowdSurge tickets were shipped!

You can buy a Metrocard at the machines located in every subway station. There is a flat fare of $2.25 (I think that's what it is now ... they've been increasing it recently) regardless of how far you travel. My biggest suggestion to you would be to buy a Metrocard with enough money on it for both ways before you leave for the stadium. After the concert, there is going to be a huge line at the subway station to get Metrocards, and you'll want to avoid that! Good luck!

And btw it's Rockefeller Center. You won't find Rockerfella Plaza on the map.

Yes, me too. Just got the email saying my ticket are going out today, July 1 and the Fed Express tracking number. I tried tracking them but FedEX does not recognize the number yet...sometimes takes a day. Does FedEx deliver on Saturdays? With the holiday Monday, I really do not expect to receive them until Tuesday, but sure happy to hear they are going out today!! This delivery stuff makes me nervous as I had a problem with delivery of tickets once before. Yeah, Paul in two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! FedEx usually delivers on Saturdays. If you're worried about FedEx not delivering them (I don't know if they're going to need a signature), you might want to call them. If they leave a slip saying that they needed a signature, you can usually sign the back of the slip if you won't be home when they try again. You can also typically schedule a delivery, but they won't let you schedule a specific time ... it's usually just a time period in which they'll come.

Same here!

FedEx will only deliver on Saturdays, if the shipper paid an additional fee for Saturday Delivery. I doubt CrowdSurge did, since it's like twice as expensive as regular M-F delivery. I wouldn't expect the tickets to arrive until Tuesday at the earliest, since Monday is a holiday.

You can also take the "D" train which is express as well. Also, it is right by Rockerfeller Center so no walking if you are staying right there.

I don't think Paul ever kicked off a tour in New York before...and if I remember corrctly the Beatles never began one in the U.S. either. The anticipation will be "off the scale", Phil.

Didn't the Beatles' 1965 US tour start in NYC at Shea Stadium?
