You have to be kidding....glad I did not spend good money on big packages, I did not think there would be a great deal of changes but I sure as hell thought it would be better than this.
I did expect a bit more.. but there's 1 or 2 I'm quite excited about! 1 in particular will make up for the lack of changes overall.
-
Ironic that Paul recorded a song called "Sing the Changes." Glad I'm not going to this show. What a rip-off. Making it sound like a new tour.
-
A great quote from Paul tonight in honoring New York Yankee Derek Jeter, who surpassed the milestone of 3000 hits this past week: "Who's this guy Derek Jeter?,""I heard he has more hits then me!"

Jeeze I don't know about anyone else but I loved the set. Tonight's set beat out citi fields show. Juniors farm was fantastic and I loved hearing the night before. My favorite was maybe I'm amazed. Ive seen Paul live a lot and he has never played that at my shows and that's my favorite solo song of homes and I was thrilled. The final song was great. I mean what did you guys expect?? A whole new set? He's playing mainly beatle classics because that's what most are there for. I would love a show full of solo music as much as you guys but I don't blame him for not doing that.. I thought the show was great and I thought his singing voice sounds better than it did at citi field in summer 09

I'm kind of tired of the excuse that some people may not have seen Paul in concert before. He has been in the US like 34957843597 times in the past ten years with basically the same show. Everyone keeps thinking it's his last tour, so they go every time. I'm pretty sure if they were gonna go see him, they have by now.
You'd be surprised. I have several friends who love music and go to lots of concerts, but for various reasons have never seen Paul, and not always because they just haven't wanted to. Money, life circumstances, etc. As for people expecting "big" surprises in the setlist - the fact that Paul is even adding one or two different songs per show and switching some songs in and out of the set is a huge departure from what he used to do, which was not to change anything at all. I saw many shows during the 1989/90 tour which all had *exactly* the same set. that was his comfort zone when he was younger, it's nothing to do with his age. For me, just the addition of a song I've never heard before ("The Night Before") constitutes a major set-list change. And frankly, Brian is great but I take everything he says or posts with a huge grain of salt. Now, people who went to the show tonight - bring on the reviews!!!
-
I don't know if I'd travel to see that set list (given that it's very similar to what I've seen in the past)...but if you showed me the very set list he played tonight and Paul brought it to Boston, I'd be there is a second

We have been had by a marketing ploy by the promoters who probably said hey we know there are many repeat concert goers and we need to change the name so it keeps them interested. I mean why did they bother to change the name of the tour? I would have liked to see more changes. I will still enjoy the three shows I am going to see but I will likely be seeing the last three concerts of his ever. Granted I have seen him 10 times but this is still upsetting. I think some of it is just a product of touring the way he does now with a short break in between in other words I think they the band and him are being lazy to point. I love the man and always will but give me a break, I understand that he has to do certain songs but not some that he has worn out over the past couple tours. since the first time I saw him in 02' I think there is 4 songs on this set list I have not ever seen.

The set-list only discussion has now been lifted out to it's dedicated topic here: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2453476#2453476 Please continue set order and song choice discussions in that topic. We're awaiting personal reviews, photographs and YouTube clips from concert goers in this thread. Please take other non-venue chat into the thread shown to allow concertgoers their own personal space to post about the show they attended. Thank you Martin

For those of us who stayed home tonight, we weren't physically there being blown away by it all. I'm sure it was a fantastic show, and I really wish I was seeing him more than just once on this tour! There's a few songs I wouldn't be sad if he dropped and replaced with others, but I'll take it as it is.

Wow, I'm sorry you don't like the set list ... I was at tonight's show and absolutely loved it. He looked and sounded great, and was obviously having a lot of fun. I enjoyed hearing The Night Before (wasn't expecting that one). I've seen him once before (in '09 at FedEx Field) but this show beat that one. To be honest, though, I'd see Paul play Beatles songs every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. As for your argument about repeat concertgoers, he plays classic Beatles songs because that's what people want to hear. And what's wrong with that? They were the most successful group in the history of music; he should be playing Beatles music. And there are certainly enough people who will gladly pay to see him play those songs and have a wonderful time (including me). There are also many people who have never seen him before. There were two middle-aged women sitting next to me who got to their seats, looked at each other, and said "this is a dream come true." When he started playing All My Loving, they both started crying. To me, that's what this is all about. I can't wait to see him in Chicago, where I have field seats. It'll be a whole new experience actually being able to see him well.

Thanks for all the updates everyone! I'm soo excited to see Paul on the 4th and it looks by the stage set up, we'll actually be able to see him! Last year we could only really see his backside. I'm super pumped to hear I Will. My mom & dad used to sing that to each other when I was growing up!

gee, wish I stayed home to complain about the set list... that said, the show was very nice...I thought it a bit more ragged than the citi fields shows, but still well played and full of energy...as for the sound, I was sitting in 17B right behind home plate and delay tower #3, and it seemed louder than citi fields...sound quality was about the same, but there was more echo bouncing back from the stadium behind me tonight on the rockers than at citi fields, which took away from the sound a bit...I'll have to compare tomorrow...I'm interested to see if it was the location of my seats or the stadium itself...for now, I'd have to go with the citi fields shows for sound quality abbey road medley was sweet...

i love the reviews, guys! keep them rolling in! i was supposed to be at tomorrow's show, but lost my tickets over the phone when my cell lost service they were close field seats, and i haven't been able to nab good ones since then.. so off to cincinnati i will go! reading the reviews from concert-goers is getting me pumped! (and jealous that i won't be in NY this weekend!)

The show was very good, as always. I will was a surprise. The night before I kinda expected after the reports he played it during the soundcheck in LV. The band was great once again. The soundcheck was under a very hot sun and Paul applied sunscreen on his face and later had problems of it getting into his eyes because of the sweat. Only Mama Knows was played during soundcheck, so maybe it may reappear on the setlist.
