Paul's parents, Mary & Jim
-
Paul's father, Jim, was born July 7, 1902, so yesterday marked the 116th anniversary of his birth. He shared a birthday with Ringo.
-
There was a book published in the 1960s called "Up the Beatles Family Tree" - it gave genealogy and family history info for each Beatle.
-
These are Paul's family history pages, from above book
-
In Mark Lewisohn’s book Tune In (the unabridged version) he goes into GREAT detail about the genealogy and history of each of their families. There’s quite a bit in the abridged version as well.
-
Didn’t Paul talk about his dad having the same birthday as Ringo when he inducted him in the R&R Hall Of Fame?
Fun fact: the drummer who plays Ringo in BritBeat was born on July 7th!

Thanks for sharing about the Beatles genealogy in the Lewisohn book... don't think I've read that one yet.
Yes, Paul talked about Ringo having the same birthday as his Dad.. this is the video of Paul's speech at the induction ceremony for Ringo, but he didn't Ringo having the same birthday as his Dad during the ceremony...
maybe it was at another event for Ringo, or during an interview...

When the heck was it, I wonder? Oh, well.
And OMG, you HAVE to read Tune In! It is the best, most well-written, accurate and typo-free biography of the Beatles. It came out in 2013 and only God and Mark knows when part 2 will be released. Part 1 ends on the last day of 1962. It will cover 1963 to maybe 1966 (?) then part 3 1967-1970.

Will definitely have to read that! Thanks, Nancy. Looking forward to the other two volumes as well!

yes, I thought of that too!
It's amazing how young Paul looks for his age! Probably has a lot to do with him trying to live a healthy lifestyle.

Very cool that Paul's mum was a Catholic Nurse. Many Catholics sure Love...LET IT BE!!!
The person who wrote that has no idea that Paul was writing about his birth mother, named Mary, not the mother of Jesus!
Ambiguity...is the WORD! It's not hard to see how the Creator of The Universe can accomplish many things...with things that appear to be...only one thing. This was posted below the article...
"
I remember hearing on the radio that let it be was inspired by a dream that Paul McCartney had about his mother whose name was Mary saying to let it be this problem with the Beatles break up which was causing him great pain would go away and the further said that he got drunk for 2 days because of the pain and realize this was not the right thing to do so the song was inspired by a dream he had about his mother by his mother who spoke to him in a dream I further think that this is the perfect anthem for the Med j u g o r j e apparitions of Mary and so inspired by heaven in a dream and so has a sort of double meaning or double source. Let It Be is the Fiat of the Virgin Mary and she gives messages at Medjugorje which are speaking words of wisdom. Only time will tell."
Mike Shannon is correct (except that Paul went on a longer drinking binge than 2 days and it occurred many months after Let It Be was written/recorded in January 1969. It was the fall of 1969 he had what he described as “almost a nervous breakdown” up in Scotland at their farm) I don’t agree with anything he said starting with “I further think.” Sorry, we must agree to disagree with regards to ambiguity, Steven.
Ironically, there is Ambiguity in the title and lyrics of the song. Let It Be implies leaving it alone and letting it go, in the first part and then Let It Happen and letting it come into being in the last half when referencing An Answer to the world's woahs. It is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard! And, remember when it was released and listening to it on the radio all the time then.

Paul and his father in London, circa 1966.
-
^ I think perhaps that is 1967 or even 1968.
This is June 7, 1968

Thanks, Nancy! 1967 - 1968 seems like a better date for the last photo I posted here... when photos are from Instagram or Pinterest, can't always trust the captions are correct.
Since Paul will be doing a live webcast from Liverpool tomorrow, wanted to post a few photos from his childhood home there, on Forthlin Road. So nice he was able to visit there recently with James Corden.

This part of the "Carpool Karaoke" episode moved me very much, can't imagine all the memories and thoughts Paul must have had while playing the old piano again.
-
Stock photo found at Alamy.com Caption for it reads: "Carved wooden plaque above the front door at 20 Forthlin Road, Allerton, Liverpool, the childhood home of Paul McCartney. The plaque was made by Kevin Jones in 1999, and commemorates the parents of the McCartney children."

I have this labeled Dec. 1967:
Sorry, I can’t make a quoted pic into a link on an iPad.
