EGYPT STATION
-
Just had a pleasant surprise listening to Harry Shearer's always-entertaining "Le Show" on my local NPR station. In a typical show he plays about 3 songs as breaks between major segments, and the first musical break today was ... "Dominoes"!

Hi all. Any recent news on the Super Deluxe (CD, ?DVD/Blu-Ray) version of Eqypt Station? Universal started a page on it last September 2018: https://forms.umusic.com/1216/form/8826.

P.S. That link just takes you to a page to sign up for Paul’s newsletters. All of us on here are undoubtedly already signed up for that.

I didn't receive a copy of "Egypt Station" with my concert ticket !! I still haven't bought that CD; waiting for the deluxe version with extra songs. Will Target sell that, too, you think?

But it also says:

What I said in my post was my wish - don’t know if any of that will be included!

Well we will have to wait and see what other goodies Paul will surprise us with!

There's also some songs that weren't included on the album so they will probably end up on this Deluxe Edition.

I don't remember if I said this on here before (and I'm too lazy to go back and look, lol), but the series of songs from Confidante through People Want Peace, Hand in Hand and Dominoes is officially my favorite 4-song run on any McCartney album. Even if the rest of the album didn't exist, those 4 songs just fill me with joy every time I listen.

I haven't visited the rateyourmusic site for a couple of months so I've just had a look to see if 'Egypt Station' has gone up in the ratings since my last visit. It hasn't. With 927 votes now cast and 36 reviews, its still only on 3.06 (out of 5.00). To put that in some form of context, the only albums less popular are: Pipes of Peace (2.96), Kisses On The Bottom (2.77) and bottom of the heap, poor old Press To Play (2.72).Despite its dated production with its horrible 80's clinical sound, I quite like the album myself. Certainly a lot more than Egypt Station anyway.

I do recall you saying this before, Bruce. I won't argue too much because I think it is a good four-run. However, I'm sure there are better over the course. I think, off the top of my head - Here Today, Ballroom Dancing, The Pound is Sinking and Wanderlust is pretty good. For me, that is ahead. I'll have to dig back into the archives (and my memory) to see if something is even better.

Press to Play would've been better with It's Not True.... a guilty pleasure.... I think I'm the only person on the planet that rates this song.... and I will always have a soft spot for the album. Stranglehold, a beauty.

"It's Not True" is on my "Press To Play" CD, Toris. It's not on yours? I dislike "It's Not True," but I do like "Stranglehold."

It's Not True not on the original release. Nor is Tough on a Tightrope or Write Away. They are all additions on one of the new releases. All were orginally B-side singles. None are part of the real album. I would've added them ahead of Pretty Little Head and Talk More Talk.

"Tough On a Tightrope" is on mine, too, but not "Write Away." I don't like "Talk More Talk" very much. Don't like "Pretty Little Head" a whole lot, either. I always thought the lyrics to the song "Press" are dirty. But kind of like the song. Or is it called "Press To Play" or is that the album title? It's far from one of my favorite albums by him."Tough on a Tightrope" is pretty good.
