Mad Day Out

I LOVE this one!

Here is a short "stills" clip of the Beatles on their, self titled, Mad Day Out, in 1968. Pretty much everything you see here me and my Beatles fans friends copied, when we copied them. I have it all on dvd.

Looks like the same shirt Ringo is wearing on the White album photos. Poor lad! Only one shirt to his name

The random photo of the Beatles appearing outside the semi-detached house... I wonder if that was taken because it was vaguely (it has no front porch) similar to John's childhood home 'Mendips'? Perhaps they were passing and one of the Beatles commented on the similarity?
In Tom Murray’s book, Mad Day Out (he took that photo) he said they were on Swain’s Lane, just randomly. He also has pics in the book of himself revisiting the sites in 2016, and he brought along copies of the original photos.
He only brought 2 rolls of film, but all were in color! (Or colour to you Kestrel!) The funny thing was, he didn’t know ahead of time who he would be photographing! He walked into he place he was told to go (where John had the parrot on his shoulder) and as he came down the hall he heard someone playing Lady Madonna on the piano. He opened the door and said “Oh, $hit, it’s Paul McCartney!”
He was 25 at the time, the youngest photographer there, and they got along famously. Plus, he was driving his Jaguar XK150 and “That seemed to impress them.”
I know the photo outside the house, Paul is wearing a rosette, was taken in Swaines Lane, I think they were pretending to be canvassing for an ( imaginary) election. We stood there ourselves on our copycat MDO.

Which White Album photos? The magazine photo was taken July 28, 1968 and they were recording the White Album 30 May – 14 October 1968, so it very well could have been the same shirt. (and I know you are just joking around, but I’m curious what WA photos you are referring to)

Over here in the UK, we got 4 headshot photos of the Beatles, and a fairly big poster, included within the Beatles White album gatefold cover. On the poster you can clearly see Ringo wearing a quite similar shirt to his yellow frilly shirt he's wearing on his Mad Day Out. And if my memory serves me correctly, in the headshot photo of Ringo, you can just see some of that shirt. I had the poster on my bedroom wall for years. The 4 Beatles headshots I framed and had them on my wall for years. Only the Lord knows where they are now, cos I haven't a clue

Maybe they're in the attic, tucked away in a box in a dark corner somewhere. -

@wandy Hey well that's a phenomenal stroke of luck.
I can't believe it. -

Oh, okay! Yeah, we got those too and I rescued mine from my bedroom wall and put them back in the album! Will look later - gotta run!
