From Capitol Records Official Instagram today (@CapitolRecords).  What a wonderful and thoughtful tribute to Paul and his many years of dedication to music, as well as congratulations to him for #1 with Egypt Station!  Was really moving to read the lovely words they put on the mural.

      capitolrecords:

In celebration of @PaulMcCartney's first No. 1 solo debut with #Egypt Station, we’ve created this mural to honor his legacy! Stop by 1750 Vine Street, Hollywood to check it out. Thanks to our friends @blankcanvasla & @dytch66  for helping bring this tribute to life! #PaulMcCartney #blankcanvasla #dytch66

Image may contain: 1 person, outdoor

The mural says (in case photo is too small for some to read):

Your talents and achievements as a songwriter, musician, recording artist and concert performer are unique, revered incomparable and legendary.  Those qualities, combined with the graceful demeanor of your public life, have made you a beloved artist to generations of fans the world over.  You have opened new frontiers for Rock 'n Roll and popular music and blazed trails that have inspired countless others to follow.  You are an icon in the truest sense of the world, and we are honored to be continuing our relationship with you that started in 1964.

Since beginning a new and profound direction on your creative journey with the release of your McCartney album in 1970, you have sold over 100 million albums and singles around the world.

You have truly set the standard for every artist who aspires to greatness.  Thank you for everything you have given us and for what you continue to bring to the world.

Congratulations, Paul, on receiving this well deserved tribute!

I ought to go there one of these days to see that for myself! It is true every word said on that mural!

Paul has done alot over the years and he still continues to help make the world a better place and just he himself make people really happy. At least for me Paul and his music make me so happy that I foeget about any problems I have. For example a co worker at work was rude to me b ut I ignored her amd I started singing Who Cares softly to myself reminding myself what Paul said in his song "who cares what the idiots say who cares what the idiots do, " to avoid gettimg upset at how rude my co worker was. Paul's music is my cure of getting rid of stress and anxiety. He helps me to feel at peace with myself.

Exactly. His song "Who Cares" will help so many people !  One reason it should be released as a single, as well as its artistic merits.  A woman on a Beatles site while ago said George Harrison's music has helped her greatly throughout life to cultivate more inner peace. Paul's new music, especially, and all his recent activities  help distract me from enduring Hurricane Hell and seeing my region turn into Water World.  (And the glorious anticipation of his Raleigh concert next year!)  I thought it was fine when Alvita and her friend were called up on the stage at Grand Central when Paul did "Who Cares" as the girls said they've both been bullied, and his song imparts comfort. It was a bit awkward I thought when Alvita said she was taunted for being a "Beatles fan," but Macca appeared to understand. He was so warm and comforting. I'm fixing to watch that mini-concert again (had insomnia tonight, and anyway it's well worth repeated viewings).

What you girls said is so true!  Paul's (and the Beatles') music really has inspired and uplifted so many people, and has made a difference in people's lives, and made the world more than a little better.   He deserves to be recognized for that!

I was trying to find an article about the mural, to see how long it's going to be up, because it was printed on canvas.  Was unable to find much online about it, other than what was posted on Instagram, but hopefully it can be a perment exhibit somehow!

That sure doesn’t look like canvas. Is that what you read?

I was thinking it was canvas because one of the artists was "blank_canvas_la" and also it looks like there are support/stablizing rods behind the artwork, and you can see through Paul's head to where the rods are, as if it's on fabric.  But that doesn't mean it IS canvas, it's just what I assumed from the photo.    The artists' website is at https://www.blankcanvasla.com/

“Blank canvas” is just an expression. Doesn’t mean the artwork is actually on canvas. I believe this was meant to be permanent.

You may be right! 😂  But I was thinking ANYTHING about Egypt Station is a tribute now - it's letting the world know what a great album it is, and after 55 years, Paul is still #1!  And he'll always be totally scrummy!* 😂
