The big problem with the presale is the availability of the best seats for fans! Shouldn't the fans have the first say 20 rows in the A sections for any Paul show, i mean most want the best available? I know price can play a part, but even the best seats available at every price point should be the goal of Paul's website. Also the signing up 2 hours before the presales go ahead, is this an insult to Paul's long serving fans or a good thing for new ones? _________________

some valid points I like the excitement around presale but it's not as good as its says on the tin. I'd rather see fan club only presale but as a credit card holder I've benefited from cardholder presale and also mobile phone presales. I don't think allowing people to register for two hours before is fair but then again I guess touts are linked to most fan sites anyway.

Always an interesting one. First of all there is no possible system that is wholly immune to exploitation by scalpers and touts. There are ways to curb the worst excesses and to ensure that genuine fans get tickets but as long as there is an appreciable difference between the face value of a ticket and what people are willing to pay on ebay etc, there will be people ready to insert themselves into the process in order to make a profit. Making sure that only people who are registered on a band's website prior to a tour announcement helps target long term fans, but does nothing to stop professional touts registering along with regular fans for popular acts in anticipation of tour announcements. Does stop the Johnny Come Latelys getting presale tickets though. Registering interest for presale lotteries, then getting a unique, one time use link for buying x number of tickets (ie Roger Water's recent The Wall tours) works well, although requires a great deal of admin work and doesn't guarantee touts along with fans won't reghister then sell tickets on. Paperless tickets or tickets verified with ID a la the recent Kate Bush residency also filters out the worst excesses of touting/scalping, but comes with it's own headaches if people genuinely can't attend unless the ticket agency has a refund/exchange programme. In terms of the front rows, it's pretty much down to the artist. If people are willing to pay scalpers/touts 4 figure sums for the front rows, why shouldn't the artist be collecting this rather than third parties? Other solutions to front row access is the Billy Joel approach (keep the front rows empty, upgrade obvious super fans on the day to the front rows), Iron Maiden (obviously not seated, but have access to the front barrier on a fan club lottery system). IO agree that being able to sign up to presales a mere 2 hours before turns presales into general sales. COnfers no advantage in either better seats or earlier ticket access and is arguably unfair for long term fans, especially when presale codes are put out on Twitter (Liverpool Echo). May as well have just the one general sale in this case.

I even have a scalper in the family, she doesn't do it as a regular thing, but her father told me she sold his Ed Sheeran birthday present ticket for three or four times the price, it really angered me so! She wasn't that happy that i called her a parasite, but i'm afraid that sort of thing is only justified if your starving to death etc!

When the tickets are costing £140 it make you think twice about buying one but I know folk that buy two just to sell the other for £280 so that they end up getting in free. I don't do stuff like that I would only sell to a fan at cost price. Someone on the board did that for me a few years ago it was a really nice thing to do but back to the presale I think a link to the barclaycard holders presale for Birmingham would have helped also give us a clue how many presale tickets are up for grabs.

If my own Mother were to buy tickets and sell them on for double or more i'd still call her immoral! Luckily she's got more morals than she knows what to do with.

Here is my thoughts on Presales. Personally this has been the worst yet, surely pre sales should be for the fans, and yet they allowed people to join the presale upto 2 hours before going on sale. They should have said that only people that were members before the announcemnt can get the presale. Personally i prefered it when they had the premium membership and there was an exlusive presale for them, unfortunately in the year i was a member there were no UK presales and then they cancelled the membership. I missed out on good tickets for PM presale & O2 presale but got good tickets on the General sale, surely that means the system isnt working and needs changing? I also feel that anyone who was a premium member in the UK that didnt get any premium presales should have been given it for this one, as to be honerst i only joined the premium membership for the pre sale tickets. Also 2nd night of O2 went on sale on O2 web site before PM.com did the presale tickets, how does that work out! So yes i am going to 3 shows but none of them got in the presale all in the general sale.! Things have never been the same since the paying Fan Club closed which i was a member of for years. Apart from priotiy tickets to shows we also got loads of free shows as well!

I'm with you totally on this issue. I was lucky enough to be off work this week to try and get tickets, so when the second O2 date presale was up i was on my PC and ready for it, i managed to get block A1 row 12 just off centre, but that was just by luck really. Announcing the second date while 45 minutes into the general sale i think was a little unfair on most fans, i think plenty of them would have bought crap seats for the first show not knowing the second one might give them a better opportunity. I have tickets for the Saturday show too, in block B1 row 5, but probably wouldn't have bothered if i'd known a second show was likely, as Paul hasn't played 2 London shows close together since 2003.

It was as ever a bit of a shambles really im not sure on how to fix the issue either but surely given how popular the man is the bods at MPL could come up with a better system than the "hit and hope" one they use now. I'm of the view for a paid membership type system for tickets through a fan cub while not popular it has to be better than this surely

I agree that dropping the Pioneer membership was a mistake where presale was concerned.

It was a bit of a joke really. I could not get on to the website on the Sunday for pre-sales but just on the off chance called the number listed in the Mail on Sunday advert which stated the tickets would not be on sale until the next day. I got straight through on the phone number and bought tickets..... so much for a pre-sale!!!!!!

there is a "secret" Mumford and Sons gig in Berlin today. On the ticket website you find the following: 2 tickets maximum per person. All tickets are strictly non-transferrable and photo ID plus the card you purchased the tickets with will be needed to be shown on the door as proof of purchase. This is to make sure all tickets go to fans rather than touts. maybe not easy in big venues, but it was possible at the soccer worldcup, so maybe possible at Paul concerts, too? 🙂

If Glastonbury can sort touts out and I've heard they have ( almost 98% success rate with the photo ticket idea ) I'm sure arena and stadiums could do that too

I've said this before... Sad that the Pioneers club was collapsed. Am a member of other artists clubs and have easily got good tickets to their shows... In my area, the scalpers do well, which makes it difficult for the rest of us who don't have that easy money !

The presages work perfectly everywhere except for the UK. No problem and easy getting really good tix for Holland, Sweden & Norway. The UK ticket situation is always a problem. I guess there are many fans and also the touts have access to the tickets as well.

I got what I wanted for the O2 Arena, so I won't complain. Didn't get anything for Amsterdam though. That pre-sale was a bit strange: looked like everything was already booked at 10:00 strike.
