Paul McCartney 2017 Rumors

Hi everybody out there! Are there some rumours about Macca touring Europe in 2017? Or just Australia rumours at the time?
JUST Australian rumours?! Hehe... For years I was longing for all the cities he finally did in 2016, exactly in the year I wasn't on the continent. I'm not sure how much is left in Europe with the current same old tour, especially after the brutal reviews and festival reactions this year, which I warned for (and anyone could've predicted).
So you don't think he'll perform in Europe on the near future?

I'm just saying I don't know what's left at this point with the same old show. Barcelona, Lisboa, Rome, a few like those? I mean, not even the "territories we've never been" 'Out There' tour could get him outside the beaten paths in Europe - with Poland as big exception - and he well exhausted his show in Central Europe with slow ticket sales and critical reviews as result.

Maybe the UK

I could see a three or four show run in the UK next year. I have said this a ton, but Paul skipped the Southern US this year and 2015 (besides Columbus). But these cities are long overdue - Houston San Antonio Miami Charlotte

Not the South, but I'd also add Anaheim and Denver to that list, too.

Still smarting from the bonfires a gazillion years ago? Surely not.

In the South after John said they were more popular than Jesus.

Oh, that makes sense. I was confused because you quoted my comment.

If I was him, I'd take a break for a while, release the new album in the fall and play Australia then, like November... let the voice rest and come back strong, drum up promo in AUS.... Springsteen did that in 2013; played all arenas after 10 year absence, drummed up promo and demand and came back the next year in stadiums and parks.

Sgt._Pepper, were you saying you didn't think Paul should tour the south? Maybe that's why she made that comment. *confused*

No! I was saying that in addition to the cities that FlowersOnTheRun had mentioned, that Anaheim and Denver could be candidates as well because they haven't had shows from Paul in a while.

Got it. As I reread what you originally wrote, I understand. Her comment just threw me off!

Jock Tamson:
On his BBC radio 2 breakfast show this morning DJ Chris Evans was auctioning (amongst other things) a VIP box for 20 at the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park on 30th June-1st July next year. He mentioned that Phil Collins and Green Day have already been confirmed but that another headliner was still to be announced - he said he wasn't allowed to say specifically who, but it is "the biggest pop star on the planet". Now to me that can only mean one person! (Although maybe Paul is no longer considered a "pop star"?). http://www.bst-hydepark.com/
As mentioned by me on 18th November, Justin Bieber has now been confirmed for the BST Festival to fill the slot on Saturday 1st July so this effectively kills off any chance of McCartney headlining next year's event.

There are two or maybe even three dates (Friday 7th, Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th July) that have yet to be confirmed. Since the start of the BST Hyde Park series in 2013 the dates have run across two weekends, generally with three dates each weekend - the Thursday OR Friday, and then Saturday and Sunday with a few exceptions here and there. This normally totals six headline acts on six different nights, so there are probably two more dates to be announced. So there is a chance that Paul, or indeed another big act or two, could appear.

The festival only includes one weekend next year, from Friday 30th June - Sunday 2nd July and a single date on Thursday 6th June and all the headline acts have now been announced so McCartney won't be appearing (for a full set) next year.

Hi Johnnymain, Where did you hear that there are only four days / headline shows next year? It seems strange as they have had more at all the previous line ups. Also, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are playing Hyde Park next summer, as confirmed in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. However, it's not been officially announced. Cheers!

This article seems to confirm that Petty is going to close the festival, but I'm not a subscriber so can't access the rest of it. If that's true then there may in fact be a second weekend and a Sat. night for Paul? http://www.musicweek.com/live/read/tom-petty-and-the-heartbreakers-set-for-bst-hyde-park/066875

Yep, it was confirmed early today. They are playing the Sunday night, July 9th, which leaves the Friday and Saturday nights open. My guess is that one of those nights, probably the Saturday, will be taken by another act. There's just as much chance for it to be Paul as there is for any other big act. I know the Stones are planning to tour Europe next summer, and they are fond of Hyde Park! Who knows...
