Google maps has no location for "Black Mountain Hills".  Maybe because it does not exist.

You’re not around here very much so maybe you missed that when I listened to Rocky Raccoon with earbuds on the new remastered CD, I could finally hear “ black mining hills.” The poster included in the deluxe set still says “mountain” though, like the original poster. That’s why I posted the 🙄

I saw that post.  I even applauded you for admitting that you were mistaken.  That's very rare online.

Unfortunately, whatever smiley face or emoji you posted is not coming through.  This is what I see:

Correct! You can find the "Black Hills" of  South "Dakota", which is famous for "mining" Black Hills Gold. Hence, "Black mining Hills of Dakota". No matter what the lyrics sheet says.

I also found this on Wikipedia:

"The Black Hills of Dakota is a song, written for the musical film Calamity Jane, about the singer's love for, and desire to return to, the Black Hills of South Dakota.

The music was written by Sammy Fain, and the lyrics by Paul Francis Webster, in 1953.[1]

The most notable recording of the song was done by Doris Day, issued both on the soundtrack album of the film and as a single."

                              Interesting!
