Do you think you get something extra special from an artist when they play in there own town. I have been fortunate to see Paul several times including seeing Wings live. I have also seen him play live on two occasions in his home town. I must admit the small venue gig at the 02 academy was close up and pretty awesome. I must have been standing about five rows from him and knowing that family and friends were at the gig was kind of cool. Also when he played Anfield football ground I really felt something spiritual at times especially during the long and winding road. It was as though the music touched me both inside and out. Despite the football ground being scruffy and a bit of a dump it didn't matter. For me yes it different when they come home and the reason is simple it because it's HOME

I would think seeing Paul in Liverpool would be a very special experience, considering it was the birthplace of all four Beatles and where they grew up and met each other. Where the "big bang" started as it were. It must be bitter sweet for him too, coming home and playing where it all started. He probably still has family there too.

I think it's (obviously) very special for the audience but not so much the artist. Paul (quite rightly) makes a big thing about playing in Liverpool whenever he does, pointing out family and old school friends which is nice. The fact he tells stories about places he used to visit (pointing out where they are too) is quite fun for the audience who probably go there in droves the next day. When AC/DC play Glasgow, on the other hand, it's just a regular gig to them. No mention the Young brother Malcolm and Angus were born in the city, no mention about being Scots by birth and no special amendments to the set list - just a bog standard set. They don't even stay overnight in Glasgow. They fly in by private jet from Angus Young's house in Holland two hours before they go onstage and then get the same jet back to Holland straight after the gig.

Paul has never played Old Trafford. I have been told that concerts at the ground arnt they good as the sound doesn't carry that well due to height of the stands

In general seeing Paul in Liverpool is pretty special. That small gig at the O2 Academy was incredible and the gigs at Anfield/Echo Arena had something a little bit extra too. That being said, the gig at the O2 Arena in Dublin was up there with the best McCartney show I've seen in terms of atmosphere, crowd response and the effort Paul put in. The gigs at RDS in Dublin 2010, Albert Hall in 2012 and Warsaw in 2013 has a certain feeling of "going through the motions". I agree that Anfield is a dump!

I feel any artist not just Paul has to work that little bit harder in front of your home crowd if i recall rightly didnt he get quite a bit of abuse and where i was sitting boo's last time out at the Echo Arena while trying to tell a Cilla Black story I often wonder the last time he got a volley from a crowd a good while i would presume, but also i have to say at the moment when that happened he quickly realised he had a job on his hands and he had to give it everything he had,it turned what had been a good concert into a great one in my eyes. Artists should be on top of the game at home it can bite you on your bum if not

I tend to find the crowds at a home coming gig much better, when the band James do Manchester it's always a massive event and the oasis gigs at Heaton park was something special. I think it's nice as well when a band or solo arstist bow out in there home town as a final farewell
