Milwaukee, WI - Miller Park - July 16, 2013 - ARCHIVE

I have a few clips of songs posted on YouTube, user name WisconsinMom. I don't take full songs, which would be nice, but honestly, I can hardly hold still for a few minute clips, let along whole songs and I also respect the copyright laws! Amazing concert...best I've EVER seen. It helped that we were 17th row dead center. Perfect. Not too close, still close enough to tell Paul's eyes are brown/hazel. Went with my 24 year old son who has gone with me to the last 3 Macca shows. He was also blown away. (I raised him on the Beatles. Gave him a ukulele when he was 3 that he pretended was his guitar and sang along to all my Beatle records. And I taught him the Beatle bow too. He is a student teaching semester short of becoming a music teacher.) It was ungodly hot...we got to the parking lot across the freeway from Miller Park just after 4:30. It's also the backside of the stage so we got to hear Sound Check perfectly. However, we headed over to meet someone at 6pm, not realizing that they would continue. Getting in was kind of a madhouse. Everyone just kind of converged when the doors opened, but everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Seats on the field were very tightly packed. We sat for almost 2 hours because the show started 45 minutes late. Once it started, I didn't remember that I was hot and sweaty and uncomfortable anymore. Just short of 3 hours.......swapped out I Saw Her Standing There for Get Back. Everything was perfect. Took lots of pictures. No idea how to get them on here. That's about it!
Good to meet and hang out with you and your son before the show Nancy. Best concert ever! There was an empty seat next to me in row 11, so I had extra room (and damn were those seats and rows small!). Can't believe Miller Park actually let me take my huge bag into the show. Though they wouldn't let me bring in my bottle of Grey Goose, very unlike Wisconsin. I was pouring people drinks in the massive line to get in. Met a family in line in front of me. 25 year old daughter, mom, dad and grandma. The grandmother was 90 years old and had cancer. Mom and daughter were really drunk and funny and told me how she (grandmother) had never seen Paul before. They kept the show a secret because they were expecting her to die any day and didn't know if she would make the show. When they told her the day of the show she cried. She had seen them arrive at JFK and on Ed Sullivan, but had never seen Paul live. The mom said she'd never seen her cry before and started laughing. They were quite a funny family. It was a pretty cool experience. Shared stories with a couple from Canada. They had seen Paul at the Hard Rock in Vegas. When I told them I saw my first Paul show with my mom they asked where she was and I told them she's not with us anymore. Without missing a step they replied "she's here, they'll all still here with us." Pretty cool people. Talked with an older gentlemen. He asked how I was able to see so many shows and I told him I sold a guitar and guitar amp. He played too. We started talking about the Fender Twin amp and how loud it was and both agree that '"they" always make you turn it down". The hero of the night goes to my friend Phil from Madison who drove back to the stadium to pick me up at 1:00am to give me a ride to downtown so I could take the bus back to Chicago. I was far too out of it to make sense of anything. Once downtown I got directions to the bus station from a local homely man who told me I was in the hood. I asked him for a lighter and gave him two cigs. Told him I was at Paul McCartney and how awesome the show was. He was pretty excited to hear my review and gave me directions. I was still amazed at the greatest concert I have ever seen the whole bus ride back to Chicago. I was so exhausted I was limping the whole 30-minute walk back home, my arm was bloody for some reason, I had no voice whatsoever, and was a sweaty mess. What a rockshow! Took tons of video. Will upload to youtube hopefully soon. Paul saw my Ram On sign, but I'm not sure if he could read it. I did scream "Paul!" and he looked over right before the introducing "Something". Asked Pablo before the show to save me the setlist, but I was too blown away to even care about the setlist, or meeting Paul or anything really. That was the best musical performance in the history of the world. I was standing in a haze after the show and noticed an elderly woman with a plastic bag going from seat to seat putting heaps of the confetti into her bag. Apparently she also knew she had seen the greatest thing ever. Ram on!

Glad you had a good experience. Wasn't sure how far down you were from us. And I felt bad that once the doors opened, we just kind of walked away without saying goodbye. I blame it on the heat! And now I wish *I* had collected some confetti. Hindsight... We were sitting next to an 83 year old woman. Her son had a sign, but he didn't hold it up at the right times so I don't think Paul saw it. During one of the lulls, I wanted to holler "I've loved you for 49 years Paul" but didn't have the guts! Everyone we talked to was so nice EXCEPT for the group of 6 directly behind us. Before the concert started we talked a bit. They were impressed that I'd seen the Beatles in 1964. But then the one guy said "You aren't going to stand up during the concert are you?" I said "Of course I am!" He got really pissy after that. Said something to the effect that he paid damn good money for that seat so he was going to sit in it. I said "go for it" Needless to say, he stood up, but not a whole lot. AND they all left before any of the encores. My son says "why would you pay 'damn good money for these seats' and then get up and leave so you can beat the crowd to your car" Yeah, I didn't get it either. So, you had to drink up the bottle of Grey Goose before you went in??? And yeah, I'm surprised about the bag too. Although, they really didn't check the size, I don't think. Just what was inside. We ended up sitting in our seats after the concert for awhile until the road crew came through pulling up the "snakes" as my son, the light/sound tech, said. There was a young woman at the end of our row that was sick and they came in with a stretcher to take her out. Then, we stood around outside and waited for the traffic across the footbridge to thin out. And once we got to our car after midnight, when it was still 88°, we turned on the A/C full blast and listened to WKLH who were playing Paul's setlist. Finally left at almost 1am and got home at 1:40am. I was so wired, I didn't get to sleep until after 3am...and was up at 6:30 the next morning. I'm still pumped. I wish I could do it all over again!

There was still some Grey Goose and I just left it on the sidewalk. But yeah, I was pouring people drinks and drinking it myself. Then after a trip to the bathroom I bought 3 or 4 beers. Thought during the first few songs I might pass out from the heat, but told myself I wouldn't and sucked it up. Got lucky. The family I talked to in line asked me what was the best Paul show I'd seen. I said, "maybe tonight". Turns out I was right. Eight Days A Week, All My Loving, Paperback Writer, Let Me Roll It (w/Foxey Lady), My Valentine, Maybe I'm Amazed, The Long And Winding Road, 1985, Anther Day, Lady Madonna (just COOKED!), Blackbird with Paul playing basically in his living room for 45,000 close friends, Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!, Something, Band On The Run, Live And Let Die, the best version of Let It Be I've ever heard, Hey Jude. Just unbelievable.

I was listening in the parking lot. Got back in the car after "Whole Lotta Shakin" to cool off...would've loved to hear "Every Night" and "Bluebird"!

We heard Get Back from the parking lot. Paul was singing. Heard Something and sang alone. Lady Madonna also. I'd love to know how many people got carted out of there due to the heat. I was afraid I would be a casualty. I was wired, too, and could not get to sleep until after 3 am and woke at my usual time--shortly after 7. I slept fitfully and felt horrible. Felt a lot better after meeting a friend who lives there at Starbucks and seeing her pictures from sound check and the show. Funny how that works. Slept wonderful Wednesday night and got home Thursday afternoon.
