Paul McCartney 2012 Rumours

Bon Jovi did a 3 hour show here in 2010
Bon Jovi rocks too! He's in the league of Paul, I'd say. Class act entertainer and always puts on an energetic show. He's not really mainstream anymore either, so I don't classify him with the "young, modern" performers of today. For the most part, those performers just plain stink. Lol
I think it's the only rock band to come out of the 80s to still fill stadiums over the world.

U2 is up there as well.

U2 is unquestionably a bigger draw than Bon Jovi. And we can't forget Madonna, Tina Turner (every time she comes out of retirement) and Prince.

I would probably agree that U2 are a bigger draw than Bon Jovi, but its certainly pretty close. Madonna tho is nowhere near Bon Jovi or U2. I think U2 played Hampden Park in Glasgow (like Paul) a few years back and sold out, Bon Jovi played Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and sold out and that stadium holds 17000 more. Infact, in the paper the next day they said you could hear Livin' On A Prayer in the city centre as it was that loud....Yup an 8 or 9 min version.

I'm allergic to Bon Jovi. Sorry, I just really am.

I, too, share this allergy to cheese.

Poor us, it really makes me feel physically ill and I need to switch off the radio. No joke.

Its also a complete misconception that they are a cheesy band.

As a Christian-rock survivor, I beg to differ:
Granted, their hit "Bad Medicine" is one of my guilty-pleasures -- and I definitely agree with their politics -- but I can't subscribe to their saccharine brand of rock music. -

I think they suffer because their big hits are relatively 'cheesy'.

You are very much correct about Have A Nice Day; they raised the bar with that one.

I think this Bon Jovi discussion parallels some of the discussions we have about Paul with non-Paul fans who only go by his stuff on the radio. I'm not a big Bon Jovi fan but I followed his music. I remember when he was a hair rocker in the 80s with Runaway way way way before it became well known. I remember Living on a Prayer and when he asked his fans to send in their footage to make a video. (that's on a video where I taped a bunch of George stuff). but now? I see a mature man who still seems to have got it and has grown well. He comes off as an entertaining personality lately, I'll give him that. Since I haven't bought any of his albums in years, I can't really judge his music lately.

Can't argue with that at all.

i find the moment in 'love you make' mccartney docu/film where the great man walks by bon jovis 'richie samboa' "how you been"....thrusted the bon jovi guitarist as he passed the mccartney entourage in a corridor backstage trying to instigate a fellow 'rock legend' chit chat. to which mccartney kind of politely brushed him off like a typical apple polisher.
although to be fair paul did go on to almost have sex with elton john in the same corridor almost seconds later
best moment in the film apart from watching billy joel gushing all over paul quite embarrasingly.
-
What? I saw Elton and Paul kiss in that video but I thought it was on stage (and yes, it was the films best moment next to Bowie's opening singing Paul Simon)

True that. I'm not even a fan. I mean I like that album and a few of there classics but wouldn't call myself a fan but do listen out to their new stuff. Their ok. My mate is a Bon Jovi fan like I am a Paul fan so I have to put up with that.
