I actually wish Paul would appear and sing something like I Saw Her Standing There that he can still do reasonably well and exorcise the demons of the opening performance!!
oh no...he'd have to sing when she was just seven tee
"Well, she was just seventy!"

Is Paul yes or no going to play tomorrow at the closing ceremony of you-know-what? Maybe a stupid question, but I want to know if I have to stay up late . Missed the opening thing.....
Paul is not appearing, but I read that the groups are doing a bunch of British artists' songs from the past so it is assumed that a couple will be Beatles tunes.
If you must read rumours The comedian Russell Brand is widely reported to be singing a Beatles song. The latest press tweets are trying to make it clear that their earlier predictions about Paul are incorrect and that he's not appearing tonight. Certainly, as members here have pointed out, his band have split up and gone their ways - back to the US and on holiday. Martin Having said that, try to stay up and enjoy the show regardless, it's widely reported to be spectacular.
Split up? Permanently??
Surely you jest...read the rest of the sentence. "Back to the US and on holiday."

I've read some much more interesting rumours. But I'm not telling..... (Not Paul related, I hasten to add) We'll learn the truth in about 90 minutes.. Martin

spice girls reunion? And this article does mention Paul... http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Olympics-Closing-Ceremony-Rumors-Adele-Spice-Girls-Paul-McCartney-Appear-45544.html

BBC1 broadcasting from inside the stadium now... Loads of ramps for some kind of aerial display - motorbikes perhaps.... Martin

The closing ceremonies are just being broadcast in the US, and so far I'd rather watch Paul's dodgy "Hey Jude" seven times in a row than have to endure what I've seen so far. I mean, One Direction? Winston Churchill popping out of Big Ben like Phil the Groundhog? And the list of bands coming up, with exceptions of course, don't represent the best of British music, which has a rich, wonderful history!

agreed...hope it picks up soon.
At least they're playing an Elbow song for the parade of athletes...

In Brazil, over US$ 12 billion are being spent with new stadiums, airports and upgraded transport systems in twelve cities for the 2014 Soccer World Cup. One of the stadiums is located in the state of Minas Gerais, in a city called Belo Horizonte, and it's over 71% ready: http://www.portal2014.org.br/andamento-obras/6/Estadio+Mineirao.html In a meeting earlier today, the governor confirmed that this stadium, with a 65,000 seating capacity, will be inaugurated in December/January with a big concert. When asked whether it will be by McCartney, he said "it might be". Here are the plans for all cities: http://www.portal2014.org.br/cidades-sedes/

Yeah. Paul only just did a South American tour. If he were to go back so soon it would be a huge, insulting slap in the face to all the fans that haven't seen him for a long, long time. Think of what the disappointed Danish fans would feel. I understand the SA passion for Paul, but you can't have him all the time. It's getting a bit ridiculous. He has fans all over the world.

Australia and Denmark deserves him more than anyone.

Agreed. Poor babies.

In the 60s, the Beatles never played Latin America. In the 70s, McCartney never played Latin America. In the 80s McCartney never played Latin America. In the 90s, McCartney played Latin America for the first time. Fact is. Paul is just playing catch up in Spanish speaking countries. And I include Mexico in Latin America.

That really doesn't matter much at all. The Beatles are their own entity and should not be counted in discussions regarding Paul McCartney's touring history. In my opinion, the same goes for Wings. Paul McCartney the artist, really has not done that many tours, considering what a hefty career he has, just from Paul McCartney albums. There were no tours in the 80's. I would say the 89/90 tour is a 90's tour since the majority of the dates were in that decade. There was one other tour in '93. Those were Paul McCartney's first two tours and, both of them included South America. The past decade has seen more performing than ever (regardless of what act he was with), and I think South America has been well represented in the past ten years.

Wow. Somebody has sour grapes. Pobrecito! I count the Beatles and Wings tours.

Oh brother. Realistically, at least as far as rumors go, is Paul will be playing in South America sooner than anywhere else. Unless you have something more "realistic" to share.

Hope that's not the most realistic rumor. May I ask why he will go to South America before anywhere else?
