Listen To What The Man Said is probably one of my top 5 favourite solo Paul songs!

I agree with these songs too.....much more than Silly Love Songs....... Not sure about the petition though.....he has done it live...
-
I'm kind of ify on this, it was a duet with Linda, it might be hard. I know he sings the songs he wrote for her, but her voice is an important part of the song.
-
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, The Backseat Of My Car, Daytime Nightime Suffering and Every Night would also be excellent IMO. There's just too many classics in the 70's alone!

silly love songs was no duet...it was a wonderful pop tune with three part harmonies from paul, denny and linda....this for sure is a song that macca will have rehearsed for the past couple of decades at some point but decided that it wasn't right for whatever reason he has a habit of playing his HUGE songs and 'silly' falls into that catagory alright....i can only imagine how it would sound these days but i will save you my thoughts on that.
-
You are correct, LD, it's not a duet, I should not have put it that way. But Linda is an important part of the song. I just can't see him doing it. But his choice and I will look forward to whatever the next set list is
-
Hmm... The more I think about it the more appealing it seems. If he does do a new tour, this would be a great gem to add. However, there are other great songs that could/should be added, as previously mentioned. Then there is also the fact that it won't be anywhere near the same without Linda and Denny... All things considered, he isn't getting any younger! Add me to the list!
-
As much as It would be great to hear live, I reckon that seeing as he didn't do it in 1989 or 1993 the chances nowadays are pretty slim. I reckon LTWTMS would be more likely and I reckon I would prefer that.
-
Silly Love Songs would be a great addition, but also reckon this is one Paul could certainly try out in a new set without any struggle.

That's the whole point on many of these threads. I know I for one would love to hear some different songs (before it's too late) when I see him next in concert. Wix whipped up a decent setlist in the rumor thread.

I've been refraining from delving too deeply into this mess, but I will say the following: No one can deny that he is indeed old. Most of the arguments here have sparked from differences in philosophy and difference in conveying their respective arguments. Some believe that he should be allowed to do what he loves for as long as he loves it and not care about what other people think because he has done so for most of his life and it they believe everyone should "do their own thing." This same group also says that it would also be unfair to the many who will not be able to actualize their dreams of seeing him live because some critics wanted him to stop. They also often mention that there is a difference between stating an honest opinion and supposedly imposing it on others in an aggressive manner to the point where some feel harassed/suppressed. They appear to associate with a more "optimistic" philosophy... Others believe that it is in his own best interest to stop while he can still pull off a decent show. They say he would be damaging his own reputation (or has already done so) by continuing with sub-par (compared to him at his "height") performances and is headed the way of Frank Sinatra. They also believe that you must be honest with the people you love, whether they like it or not, because it is best for them to hear it (hence a more "tough love" approach). This group also believes that Paul owes us, the fans, no debt and has already gone above-and-beyond what is expected of any iconic celebrity. They believe that everyone has the right to state their views and opinion. They appear to associate with a more "realist" philosophy. As is the case with most debates, both sides have very good points and both are correct in different ways and to different degrees. It is impossible to say which side is "right" and, in fact, there may be no right side. Personally, I think that in a hundred years when Paul and the rest of us are dead and gone, this petty debate that never seems to end will have absolutely no impact on Paul's life at all and will not help or hurt his legacy in any way... Both sides should seriously consider this and move on to other things...

I agree with most of what you have to say. I don't want Paul to stop touring...just yet. But I think if he changed some songs that would be in a better key to suit his voice...it really wouldn't matter to most & to some here that want new songs...those people would be beyond happy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's got nothing to do with the opinion one way or the other that has been expressed. It's been trying to beat ones opinion down other people throats to the point where belittling and childish names are used to define one group against the other. And it's in the repeating of said opinion in a derogatory manner over and over again like a broken record. It's been said, debated, people have their own feelings, lets move on.
-
or find another thread to repeat the same things.

Absolutely... I can't imagine what either side can add to their argument at this point.

Exactly Mr. Spock, as we speak the same it's going strong on The Time is Near thread.
