Still waiting for the Luca Perasi 2nd book. Guess he's waiting for Paul to stop writing music, so it's going to be a while, I'm thinking... 👍

😂 Heck, we'll be lucky to be alive by the time Vol. 3 comes out! And Mark Lewisohn is no spring chicken - he will be 62 in June!!

That's very true. The target audience is diminishing all the time.  Most frustrating for me is that I'm not even that interested in volume 2 but more in volume 3.

If he needs research assistants, fact checkers and typists. I'm sure many people would offer to help (myself included!), but perhaps he wants to do it all himself.

It was good to hear his presentations at the Chicago Beatles Fan Fest last year.  He probably  has to travel alot and do those presentations so he can earn money and continue to pay his bills in order for him to stay at home and keep on  writing and doing research.   It's a vicious cycle.

Have some old "Club Sandwich" fan papers, and Mark L. contributed a lot of articles to those.    It's probably made a huge difference in his research if he's known Paul for a long time, and has been able to gain his trust.

Hopefully Mark's around long enough to finish Volume 3.  At age 61 he's no spring chicken and at this pace would have to make it to about age 80 to complete his work.

Latest (July 2021) interview with Mark, ...its still looking like 2023 at the earliest for the publication of volume 2 but it could be 2024 or even 2025.

The only good thing is that I'm sure the gap between Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 will be a lot shorter.

Does the hold up for publication seem to be that Mark is giving a lot of talks and speaking engagements (at BeatleFests, and special events), and he has to do that in order to earn income so he can keep working on his research?

It's kind of a vicious circle... He has to travel and give talks and make personal appearances, etc.  and perhaps he has another "day job" ... but that probably doesn't leave him a lot of time to complete the final volumes... which I can understand...

In those kind of circumstances he's probably doing the best he can...

I'm a historical researcher and would be glad to do any typing or research or manuscript preparation, if that would help!   I'd probably have to move to London or Liverpool, but could definitely make the sacrifice

😂 Me too! I don't know if Mark has/had a day job. He turned 63 on  June 16th. You're correct about him having to do speaking engagements to make money so he can live! If he'd release Vol. 2 he'd be loaded quite quickly!

Mark's Hornsey Road tour certainly put a hold on his researching for a while but I think the real reason is simply that he's still uncovering a lot of important information. And until the new info dries up he naturally doesn't want to go to complete the book and go to print. Its a bit like a painter really, when do you apply the final brush stroke? If your not careful, you can go on painting / writing forever.

Thanks, Kestrel!  Hopefully there won't be too many new research discoveries for volume 2, so he'll be able to get it published sooner.

Does the hold up for publication seem to be that Mark is giving a lot of talks and speaking engagements (at BeatleFests, and special events), and he has to do that in order to earn income so he can keep working on his research?

Mark's Hornsey Road tour certainly put a hold on his researching for a while but I think the real reason is simply that he's still uncovering a lot of important information. And until the new info dries up he naturally doesn't want to go to complete the book and go to print. Its a bit like a painter really, when do you apply the final brush stroke? If your not careful, you can go on painting / writing forever.

Thanks, Kestrel!  Hopefully there won't be too many new research discoveries for volume 2, so he'll be able to get it published sooner.

In 2013 he claimed he was 40% done with Vol. 2 and 10% done with Vol. 3. This is like waiting for Christmas when you're a little kid!

A very big deal for some of us Beatles nerds. My local bookstore has a title (Fab) and release date (May 2022) for the second volume of  @marklewisohn’s Beatles biographical trilogy.

I hope this proves to be true!!!

It may not be true. People are saying that Vol. 2 was supposed to be titled "Turn On" (since the 1st was "Tune In" and presumably the 3rd will be "Drop Out!")

I Tweeted Mark Lewisohn for confirmation. Will see if he answers!

Not true. The original poster heard from Mark through a 3rd party that is was false. 😢

                                            From Mike Daley on FB:
I’ve just heard from Lewisohn through Richard Buskin. He says that the May 2022 date is not accurate - he’s still doing research - and that the title will be “Turn On” after all. Sorry to lead you all down the Octopus’ Garden path.
