Everybody seems to have different reactions. My 1st Pfizer was just sore arm, 2nd was sore arm & shoulder + fatigue, 3rd (booster) was just sore arm.
Now in 2020 I got the Fluzone HD (high dose) being 65. Only had sore arm. Then this year I should have made sure they gave me the same one (didn't know there was another one called Fluad HD which is what they gave me) I had really sore arm, chills and fever of 101.8. It started about 6 hours after the shot and I didn't get much sleep that night. Napped the next afternoon and was fine. (P.S. They gave my 90 year old mom the Fluzone HD same time/day and she just had sore arm)

I made joke with person giving me my COVID booster shot telling him that my left arm feels like a pin cushion this year due to all the shots. (3 COVID shots, Flu shot, 2 Shingle shots and tetanus shot) -lol

I had all of those shots as well, but had the 2 Shingle shots in 2020 + the Pneumonia shot. Did you get that one too?

Nope, one shot I did not get -lol.

Be glad that you have both your shots and the booster. So many people who have the 3 shots are still getting the Omicron. It comes on really strong. It's not supposed to be so bad that you go to the hospital. Now no vaxers are doing much worse.

My ex-husband had 2 Pfizer shots + the booster and got Covid on Christmas Eve - only had scratchy throat and backache.
My son just had 2 Pfizer shots and got it last Friday - had fever of 102.3 Friday night, but normal temp since then. Also has sore throat and slight cough with some mucous. Luckily he has a good job and will be paid for the time he has to be off and quarantined. Jan. 10th was his 35th birthday - great present, huh? ️
The Omicron variant is so much more contagious than the Delta or previous variant (which I got a year ago before vaccine was available to me, but still had mild case) so many more people are getting it, but it's the UN-vaccinated who are severely sick or dying in much higher numbers than those who are vaccinated. Have read recently about several very vocal anti-vaxxers who have died of Covid.
P.S. I re-read your post and I see you were calling anti-vaxxers "no vaxers" so we are in agreement there!

My brother who is in his early 70's got COVID last week and is fine now, felt a bit crummy but never horrible. My wife came home from work this morning (clinical nurse supervisor) and told me that they have more COVID patients on her floor now that they did during the initial lockdown period. She added they have more nurses out of work in her unit with COVID that during the lockdown in 2020. Nurses in her hospital are now required to wear N95 mask while working. I believe I mentioned her hospital does not charge employees "sick time" when they are out with COVID, it is called "COVID Pay" so the amount of sick time they have is not affected.

I don't know how they're doing it where I used to work, but in the past if you were out more than 3 days, you dipped into your ETO (extended time off) bank after using 3 days of your PTO (paid time off) bank. I remember at one point I had the maximum amount you could accumulate (520 hours) in my ETO bank. I had only used 40 hours once when I was sick with pneumonia in 1991. So in 2011 I had no problem taking off 240 hours (6 work weeks) ETO after surgery!

Has anyone tried to get tested lately? I've had a frustrating experience in San Francisco. Last week I started having typical common cold symptoms, which is frequently how Omicron manifests in vaxxed/boosted people. I got a test okay at a city site, of which there are a couple dozen, but the contractor doing the actual testing -- a company called Color -- has had computer issues and is seemingly running behind getting out results. I was tested Friday morning. The card they gave out said results in 1-3 days (not 1-3 business days, but as of Tuesday evening -- 4 days -- not a peep. I've been quarantining out of an abundance of caution, as I really do prefer not to kill anyone, but there are things I need to do later this week that actually can't be done online. Ugh.

Did you try to get an appointment at CVS or Walgreens? My ex-husband who got it on Christmas Eve got an appointment with CVS finally on New Year's Eve (Friday) but he got the results Sunday. I had tested with them in July & September after I attended Beatles festivals and got results in 36 hours. (negative)
My son bought a rapid home test at CVS for $10. (he was positive)
Seems like you should have been emailed the results by now. Did you check your spam/junk folder?
P.S. You are probably not contagious anymore even if you were positive. Just wear a medical mask with a cloth mask over it or an N-95 mask for 5 days after the first 5 days. You said you got sick last week, so count your 1st sick day as day #1. You are on what day now? Probably around day 8? You are okay to go out, just well-masked.

Unfortunately getting a test here in the Bay Area is nearly impossible right now, and if you are lucky enough to find an appointment, the time it takes to get your test results back is much too long. I've had several friends go through that this past week alone in the SF area.
Bruce, I hope you get your results soon and I hope you feel better!

All nurses work 12 hr shifts in the hospital. Only administration and upper management people work 5 days a week. My wife said that if you get tested and waiting result of the test, you can get two days off of COVID pay. If you get COVID, they will give nurses one week off (36 hr) with COVID pay. If person needs mote time off after that, then employee needs to start using their PTO time. I have no idea what the extended time off policy is for her hospital. I believe the hospital is getting some type of money from the government. Due to staffing shortages, they have offered nurses $25-40 an hour incentive to come in extra and work. In other words, nurses are getting $25-40 a hour just to show up and work in addition to their normal hourly wage.

I suppose the $ amount depends on their seniority. When I retired after 30+ years at my hospital, I was making $40/hour. My starting salary was $11.03 in 1987! (I took a cut from $13.25 in order to only be 5 miles from work - the hospital I was at before was 35 miles away!)
P.S. We had a choice of working either 4 or 5 eight hour days or 3 twelve hour days and be considered full-time for benefits. At one point I worked 2 eight hour shifts (2:45pm to 11:15pm) which was considered minimum for part-time benefits. (insurance cost more)

Update: I did have COVID. As of yesterday I was still testing positive, which means presumably infectious. Symptoms were never that bad except constant fatigue which still has not gone away. My neighbor, happily, has a small stash of home tests. The major drug stores here are usually out.

So how long did it take to get the original test back? You never answered my post to you on the 12th. What day of being sick are you on?

I heard yesterday they may have a vaccine ready by March for kids under 5! Yay -my granddaughter will be 18 mos. old in March! Saw her on Saturday - she loves to run around and is curious about everything!
P.S. How are you doing Bruce?

Sorry for the slow responses. Not sure if I mentioned, but I've been in the midst of moving from San Francisco to Hilo, Hawaii and it's been complicated -- wonderful, but complicated. Anyway...
It took me 6 days to get my SF city test results back. I finally found out that a local supermarket had a stash of home tests behind the register that you could get if you asked, and my neighbor had a few squirreled away. I tested positive on one home test, waited a couple days, then tested negative twice -- luckily, as my moving day was then imminent.
The symptoms were never very bad except for the fatigue. It really did knock the stuffing out of me for 10 days. And I gotta say this far into the pandemic the fact that it's this much of a struggle to get tested and get your results is just ridiculous.

No, you didn't mention your move to Hawaii (such a hardship!) Is this for work or a new job?
Glad you're better now! That is crazy it took so long to get the results! Did you order your 4 free home tests from the government? I ordered them on Jan. 18th but they haven't come yet.

I am semi-retired! A possibility enabled by San Francisco's insane housing prices and the fact that homes here cost about 40% as much.
And no, I haven't ordered my government tests yet. I probably should, but after my recent ordeal I just haven't wanted to think about it. Hopefully with 3 shots and a recent infection I'm fairly immune for a while. What a nasty bug this thing is.
