Just purchased parking in Lot C, $44.60 including fees and e-mail delivery. Yikes! But at least I'm guaranteed a spot now and it's close to the stadium. Printed out the ticket so all systems are go. Now ...I.Just.Wait.

That doesn't sound like it has anything to do with McCartney/SLOTix soundcheck VIPs, esp. with the talk about BBQ and live music. I bet that is for people who have some sort of Washington Nationals VIP tickets (season ticket holders, sponsors, those sorts of folks).
There was something like this at the Philly show a few years ago: tailgating was allowed for everyone, but there was a separate roped-off area for VIPs or whatever with a bar, food, music, etc. I think we probably had more fun in the regular parking lot!!
Oh yeah! Wasn't it part of Andre Gardner's tent? We started out over there because we were supposed to meet Brian Ray over there before the show but it didn't work out so we wandered around back to do the limo watch! Got drenched in the process (had a blast!) then had to go back to the holiday inn and blow-dry all our clothes and shoes!

The only trouble with a tailgate party is that you might not also be able to do the limo watch and/or try to hear the sound check from outside the venue.

I'd imagine Paul will be driving by or near the party, and I'm actually quite concerned for that live band because Paul's soundcheck is gonna blast them to pieces.

Not necessarily true: it was in Philly while doing the tailgate bit that I first got to see Paul arrive! Just walking around the place, came across the prime viewing spot to see him as he arrived. Would have missed out on that if we hadn't been there hanging out in the lot.

I got an e-mail from someone at the park a bit ago. I'm editing since she said I can't quote her, just supply the logistical info. The tailgate party will begin at 430pm at the Timeline Ramp located at the corner of Potomac Avenue and South Capitol Street. It's open to anyone with a valid concert ticket. See this link for additional information http//washington.nationals.mlb.com/was/ticketing/mccartney.jsp?loc=tailgate

Food and drink can be purchased and there will be live music as well at the Pre-Concert Tailgate Party Friday night. Sounds like a fun party! Thanks Nationals Ballpark!

The person at the ballpark said to let them know if I needed anything else so I asked if front row seats for 2 and back stage passes were too much to ask (LOL) They said they'd like those, too! Hey, you just never know! Sounds like they have a great staff planning this event so please be sure to thank anyone from the ballpark that you see at the party Friday night. It's the first time they've ever done this so let's show them what great fans Paul has!

In case anyone is wondering, I asked the question of the ballpark rep if you could leave the tailgate party area after having your bag checked and getting your wristband if you have seats on the floor. Yes, you can; you will just need to have another bag check when you return to the party or enter the ballpark when the doors open. So I guess you could get your wristband and go wait for the limo or look for a good spot to hear the sound check outside, too and then go back for another bag check. Sounds like it's all good!

I think this is pretty much what I'll be doing. I'm curious as to what the live music will be, but listening to the soundcheck is more important to me Thank you for sharing all the info, tiggywinkle!

Even though I am from the DC area, I have never taken the metro to Nationals Ballpark. After the FedEx Field show in 2009, I came out a different exit than I came in and having never been there before, got totally confused trying to find the way to the metro in the dark parking lot. THIS time I have written down directions to and from the metro, AND picked up a thin map guide to DC. It even has a diagram of the ballpark. In my younger days, I navigated myself around London now just finding the ballpark from the metro station and vice versa is enough travel adventure for me!

My suitcase is packed and ticket is in my purse! Now let's just hope my flight can get out tomorrow! Can't wait for Friday!
-
Good luck tomorrow with your flight from San Francisco paulfan11! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! Safe travels and have a blast at the show!

Thanks tiggywinkle! The flight I'm taking has left sfo so far all week so I'll take that as a positive sign. Maybe meet a few boardies on Friday!

DC, you're next - just got home from the Fenway show tonight...if you don't enjoy what's coming you're way, you need to turn in your fan card...LOL
-
Wish we could find a spot where boardies could congregate and meet before the show. I know many of us will probably be waiting for the limo (anybody familiar with the venue and know where it may enter?) and attending the pre-concert tailgate party. Would be great if we could have those little name labels that you wear to meetings that would say 'Maccaboard' to identify us or something. Two more sleeps and we'll be seeing Paul!

My plan is to be at the tailgate party before the show. Unless I get WAY too hot, I will be wearing a Stella McCartney "Red Nose Day" t-shirt. You know, white t-shirt with a pic of the fellas with red noses. If you see me, come say HI

I'm hoping that we non-VIP folks are allowed there, as that's where I'm planning to go, too!

Looks like good weather for the show. Weather.com has 0% chance of rain, partly cloudy, temp. 70 -84. Let's hope they are right!

Weather sounds great! We'll be at the pre-show party as well, hopefully seeing the limo and hearing soundcheck from there. If not, we may wander as soundcheck begins. But I really like being at the opposite gate from the main crowd and already having a wrist band. This way we never really have to go up into the stadium, we'll just stay down on the field. That was not an option at EJ/BJ.
