As for the rain issue, it POURED almost the entire way through the first Citi Field show in 09. Lightening too, if I do recall. Show went on. I wasn't on the field for that one, but it didn't seem to bother anyone down there. With that said, I do hope the rain holds off and Paul brings the sun with him to our nation's capital
Same experience in Atlanta in August 09. Rogue raincloud had it in for us (as Paul refused to play Rainclouds ) but rest of city was dry. Shocked by how many bailed out from Piedmont Park due to some summer rain. Not pleasant but great show anyway.
Yeah, I guess that's the chance we take attending an outdoor summer show. They are amazingly fun when the weather cooperates, but once mother nature has a hissy fit, watch out! I was so upset with the weather in Brooklyn.. the downpour and high winds spoiled our chance of limo watch, my hair got soaked and frizzy just walking from the parking garage to the venue, and my makeup ran. In bad weather, it's not so fun being a lady! lol
Hang in there, Gina, I got a feeling that since you, I and others suffered rain in recent concerts, that increases the odds that D.C. will be a dry one, a perfect summer evening!

It's funny...I was up in the cheap seats, totally exposed to the weather. I had even brought along umbrellas and rain ponchos. Never used them! Seeing Paul for the very first time, I actually thought it was just a light mist, didn't even realize how hard it was raining! Getting on the train afterwards, I was actually asking, "how'd I get so wet?" I was soaked! Poor Paul got almost as wet as I did, as the tarp over the stage sort of sagged and dumped water on him!

Just checked weather.com We are back down to a 10% chance of rain!!! Keep your fingers crossed!

Do you need a wristband to access the field seating? Or is it just for VIP seating? I have a field seat but it is way back in row 32 though it is an aisle seat
Hi, yes, all field ticket holders must have a wristband to enter the field. http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/was/ticketing/mccartney.jsp
Field Ticket Holder Information Wristbands Field Ticket Holders must have a show issued wristband to enter the field seating sections. No Exceptions. Wristbands will be available at the following locations: Home Plate Gate: Available during the Pre-Show Tailgate Party beginning at 4:30 p.m. Main Wristband Location: Family Picnic Area - Section 143 once gates open Ticket Sales Kiosk: Section 107 once gates open Wristband Table: Section 119 once gates open
-
Wristbands will also be available at the pre-concert tail gate party at 430; as long as you don't have to have a special ticket to attend that, you can get your wristband a lot earlier. ALL ticket holders with floor seats must have and wear their wristband. They want to make sure that only the people who bought tickets down there are in that area. In Miami we stood in line at one gate only to find out that we had to go completely to the other side of the building to get our wristbands and get in. Fortunately with the info posted in this thread today, we know well in advance where we go for the wristbands and where to enter. We're getting all of our questions answered now that the show is only a few days away. Also talked to someone at the ballpark this evening and seats do run from 30-1 on the floor sections (facing the stage). Higher numbers toward the left aisle, low numbers toward the right. Also, he said that only $42 parking is left as an option and only about 25o spaces are left. I'll probably be buying a parking pass tomorrow after I check with the friend going with me.

Just printed 300 signs to take
Yes, yes. For those going to the show, join our FB group here and feel free to print off the incredibly-unprofessional signs I made for the people on the field. Even if you're in the stands, join in! The more signs, the merrier. https://www.facebook.com/groups/272880066187007/

Here is the page that talks a out what's allowed. It says personal point and shoot cameras are allowed.

More info from http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/was/ticketing/mccartney.jsp?loc=tailgate Come early and enjoy the first Nationals Park Pre-Show Tailgate Party! The party starts at 4:30 p.m. and will end once gates open for the show. Location: Home Plate Gate located at South Capitol Street and Potomac Ave. Guests will enjoy live music, $5.00 beers, BBQ, covered lounges and more! Party guests will have their bag checked upon entry and Field Ticket Holders can pick up their wristband early. All party guests will be ready for "fast access" once gates open. Tiggy again. From what it says in this message, this is the FIRST party of this kind they've had! All for us Macca fans! Woooo hoooo! Looks like the party is going to start early and we're in for a most excellant night!!!
I got that email as well today! Sounds like fun and nice of them to arrange that. I'm a bit worried about whether I will be able to get into town for the concert now. As I'm sure all of you have heard, there was a horrific plane crash here in San Francisco on Saturday and some flights are still being cancelled as there are only 3 runways open. Don't get me wrong, my heart does go out to the victims and the families of those that were on the flight and can't even begin to imagine going through something like that. But, here's to hoping I can fly out on Wednesday.

I'm wondering if anyone knows which direction the seat numbering on the field goes. Is it right to left or left to right as you face the stage?

anneokeefe, seats on the floor run from low numbers on the right of each section to hight numbers on the left (this is facing the stage) I talked to someone at the ballpark about this yesterday evening.

The tailgate party is causing a lot of confusion on different sites. It was posted on the Nationals website yesterday and didn't mention anything about it being for VIP tickett holders only. Someone on another site posted the folllowing e-mail that they received yesterday As a VIP ticket holder for the Paul McCartney concert at Nationals Park, you are invited to attend a special Pre-Show Tailgate Party! Plan to come early and enjoy gourmet BBQ fare, live music, $5.00 beers and more! Admission is free and with early bag checks and wristband pick up, you will be among the first to enter the park when the gates officially open for the show. Date Friday, July 12, 2013 Time Party starts at 430pm and ends when gates open Place Home Plate Gate (located on the corner of S. Capitol Street and Potomac Avenue, SE) What Preshow tailgate featuring ? No Cover charge ? Live Music ? $5 Beers ? BBQ Fare ? Early wristband pickup for Field Ticket Holders ? Covered Party Lounges ? Tailgate Games ? Early Bag Checks ? Expedited Entry into Nationals Park once show gates have opened I e-mailed the ballpark last night to ask for clarification if this is for everyone attending the show or just those who have VIP tickets. Those people will be at the soundcheck and have their own special dinner/buffet so don't think it would just be for them but who knows. Confusing!

That doesn't sound like it has anything to do with McCartney/SLOTix soundcheck VIPs, esp. with the talk about BBQ and live music. I bet that is for people who have some sort of Washington Nationals VIP tickets (season ticket holders, sponsors, those sorts of folks).

I assumed this whole pre-show BBQ was for anyone with seats on the field and is obviously put on by National's Park, not Paul. We're the only people that would use that gate, and if there is no cover charge how are they gonna keep anybody out that isn't worthy of a wrist band?

They may check tickets? The email I got yesterday said you would get early bag check and be able to get your wrist band early.

To get your wrist band I'm sure they'll check a ticket, but I'd imagine any joe schmo could walk up, buy a beer, and listen to the band.

There was something like this at the Philly show a few years ago: tailgating was allowed for everyone, but there was a separate roped-off area for VIPs or whatever with a bar, food, music, etc. I think we probably had more fun in the regular parking lot!!
