Can anybody find me a picture of Paul waving the Texas flag? Hopefully one where you can see him and the flag clearly

I attended this concert last night, and I was completely blown away. This is my 4th Macca concert, and ranks as my all time favorite. I had read a review of the St. Louis concert, so knew which songs he'd sing. But I was so mesmerized, I still got goosebumps as he started each one. Yeah, he did the songs he ALWAYS does (Hey Jude, Yesterday, Maybe I'm Amazed, Live and Led Die)... but he did them better than I've heard them done in a long time. Which leads me to what really surprised me: his voice! I haven't heard him sing like this in years. He sounded old at the Grammys, and on many of the tracks on KOTB. It was particularly noticeable when he sang My Valentine - he sounded much better last night than on the album,at the Grammys and on the Live download they had. I'm wondering if he has started taking better care of his voice, perhaps resting it more, and/or doing vocal exercises. Whatever it is, it's working. The flow of songs worked very well. I'll just comment on the encores. Great choices of songs. It was so cool when he came back for the 1st encore with an incredible performance of Lady Madonna, and with nary a pause the familiar riff of Day Tripper started. No surprise when he started the second encore with Yesterday, but who wudda thought it would make sense to go from that to Helter Skelter -but it worked. If you've been to a Paul concert anytime from the 70's onward, you've seen some sort of spectacle of lights and fireworks with Live and Let. Although I can't say for certain that this was the best staging of all time (it may have been), it was incredibly awesome for me because I had floor seats and could feel the heat of the fire, smell the smoke, and by body was literally vibrating from explosions. Yep, he knows how to put on a show. And he genuinely seems to enjoy doing it. He obviously doesn't need the money.

I have seen Sir Paul 11 times and was at the ST. LOUIS show on the 11th. I was surrounded by fans who were at their first McCartney show. And that, my dear friends is the dilemma. These great fans wanted to hear the songs that made McCartney who he is; I fed off their total amazement and had a great, great time, even though I had heard these performances before. To hear 1985 live was worth the 28 year wait!!!

1985 was one of the highlights for me also, followed closely by The Night Before. 1985 has always been my favorite song on BOTR, and Night Before was always my favorite on Help.

pood for paul:
Wow-to those of you sarcastically making comments about the set list (yet again) were you at the concert, or are you just trying to be uber cool? The comments are as boring and tired as the setlist that you all constantly moan about...... At the concert in St. Louis-I saw the faces of people, young and old that have never seen Paul in concert. The smiles and excitement I saw on these faces told me everything I had to know about the setlist-Paul's music gives his fans pure joy that continues through the whole concert. Yes-I know what you're going to say-if I don't like it, don't read it, BUT I think this thread didn't say it was going to be yet another *****fest about songs. It is your right to voice your opinion, but does it have to be on so many threads? Here's an idea-if you don't like the setlist-don't go to his concerts (after all, you KNOW what he will sing). Off my soapbox now.
Yeah! And did you notice the same people who complained about the setlist in the St. Louis thread came over to complain about Houston too!
Mod Post: Just a reminder to all that in an effort to accommodate all members wishes to express their views about Paul professional and commercial decisions we run a dedicated thread for views that are not specific to the concert venue itself, but which focus on set-lists: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=85320 We want to accommodate these debates but do recognise these discussions can clutter up and mar the enjoyment of reading members personal stories after each concert. Thank you Martin

I've seen Paul 35+ times and the people surrounding me are almost always first timers minus the small but consistent group that goes multiple times. Even if they amount to 200 per show, that is a speck in the crowd. The vast majority are going to their first show. Naturally he is going to perform to them.

She said the tour will head to Germany?!? Vancouver and Edmonton are both in Canada. I am very hopeful that this is not his last tour. If I had saw that interviewer, I would have given him some good stuff.

Granted that there are typically quite a few first timers at his shows, but there is still a way to cater to that crowd AND the diehards out there. Many groups/artists mix up the list enough where they play some of the songs everyone expects, and also mix in some rarities or new songs as well. Paul is pretty darned predictable at this point.
