MCCARTNEY III IMAGINED

AndrewMBarros, I thought you referring to the "Young Paul" in your original post! Didn't realize that your arrow was pointing to the Real Paul! You see from my answer to you, I was only talking about the actor/dancer playing Paul. I was just asking oobu if she spotted the real Paul right away or if someone told her.

Look at the 40 second mark. The real Paul appears!
Yeah,I did spot him crossing the corridor. I suspect he was knackered after that and had to go and sit down to get his breath back?
Funny, as if Paul did his own dancing!
Hey, why is the young guy's coat buttoned like a woman's in that one photo? Backwards photo?
Nope, not backwards! Rewatched the video and at the beginning you can see it is buttoned like a woman's and then he unbuttons it. Weird!

I spotted it myself, why?

Thanks Beatles4Ever. I realize there are varying opinions on McCartney III.
Just curious, besides Phoeb's cover of "Seize the Day", what are your favorites on McCartney III Imagined, least favorites?
Well, I finally got my physical copy of McCartney III Imagined. I think my favorite may be Khrunangbin's version of "Pretty Boys." They made the most of their opportunity!!! There's none I really dislike. I'm not sure how Paul decided on which artists he wanted to imagine the album....I'm assuming it was his decision....but he made excellent choices. From young Dominic Fike to Idris Elba, it's a solid lineup doing excellent versions/remixes of his songs. Probably the least favorite would be "Deep Deep Feeling," but only because it's just too long...but, oddly, it seems less lengthy than Paul's version. All of the songs on "Imagined" seem to move along at a faster pace.

Thanks for your imput Beatles4Ever. Funny thing, the Khruhangbin's "Pretty Boys' track has really grown with me too. Still my 2 favorites are 1) Women and Wives (St. Vincent) and 2) Deep Down by Blood Orange. As I said previously, those are the 2 Remixes that are better than Paul's originals imho. When I am listening to McCartney's Youtube Channel, those are the 2 "imagined" songs I have gone back to. I just love the production and differences in those tracks. I agree with you that Paul did a good job in general of choosing the artists. I think he was wise in picking "younger" artists to "reimagine" different takes on the songs. I also liked Ed O'Brien's, Phoebe's and Anderson. Paak's versions as well but not quite as much as Paul's. The only track I didn't like was the last track Deep Deep Feeling. Didn't like that one at all. To be fair, It took me a litle while to even like Paul's version as well.

I have to agree with you that St. Vincent's version of "Women and Wifes" is better than Paul's with her lovely, lilting and swooping vocals and harmonies. And I think Blood Orange did a better "Deep Down" as well. I'm not a big fan of "Deep Deep Feeling," but think since the Imagined version is a bit faster that I can tolerate it....a bit more. And while I'm not a fan of rap, I am a very big fan of Idris Elba and believe he did a fantastic job on Long Tailed Winter Bird. He made a song with a catchy danceable melody out of some interesting, but limited, sound affects that Paul had. And I love that he placed the words..."love, love me do" in there. All the others you mentioned....I agree with.

Thanks Beatles4Ever. I forgot to ask you about Idris Elba's Remix on the physical album. I really like him as an Actor.

Yes, Idris was excellent in "Luther" and terrific in "The Wire." I would never have guessed he was British. The American accent was superb. Oh, and I meant to say.....Paul's 'sound effects', not "affects."

Beatles4Ever...I saw him last week in a movie called Concrete Cowboy. A little different but I liked the movie which was set in my home City of Philadelphia.
I will have to look for his Remix of "Long Tailed Winter Bird" on McCartney III Imagined on Youtube. I haven't heard it yet.

^ Here he is with Paul & family:

It's getting tons of great reviews. You can't do better than have Idris Elba on your album. Great new lyrics. It's all very cool and catchy. And modern. This song and Khyringbin's "Pretty boys" are great choices. I'll have to check out the movie Idris is in.

I haven't even opened my green vinyl copy. I wonder if I should just keep it sealed? Hmmm....
-
Thanks Nancy for sending the Idris video and Thank You Oobu for sending the picture of Idris photo of him with Paul's family. Great

McCartney III Imagined reminds of those free cds that use to be stuck to the front covers of monthly music mags. That's the rightful place for this album.
