Paul said on the "Today" show that he likes to announce concerts one date at a time so he can be sure how it sells before committing to more. Seems to explain a lot.
BS...like he doesn't know? Especially after they get rolling? I mean...ok for one or two but come on...have the decency to let people make plans.

Sorry but thats nonsense..hes Paul F'in McCartney for gawds sake he's been in the biz for 50 plus years and well i heard he's quite famous hehe, utter balderdash he should like almost every other artist announce plans in one go and add any extra shows as the sales progress the way he and Marshall arts announce the dates just annoys people. Treat people like adults and allow them to make plans for the tour its not much to ask surely?

You simply cant compare U2 to Paul, they've barely toured in the last few years so you'd expect them to sell out quick as i flash,
Agree, Paul and U2 are not really comparable, esp. as for this tour, U2 are doing a minimum of 2 shows in every city. And actually not all of their shows are selling out so fast. There are currently 4 shows on sale in Los Angeles and a couple of them still have many seats available, versus Chicago and Boston, very strong markets for U2 - those cities have 2 shows on sale so far and those tickets are pretty much gone. U2 are also selling tickets for shows that aren't even happening until NEXT YEAR - lately Paul doesn't give us much more than a few weeks to buy our tickets ahead of time.
Yeah, his way is just better.
Oh lord no i cant stand the way Paul does his announcements it drives me mad give me a proper timeframe to buy tickets and savour the lead up to a gig, book it far enough in advance and the anticipation is fun too.

Maybe he meant those concerts that are two nights in a row? When he made that remark, he mentioned "São Paulo: 45,000", which was the first night, and then he announced the second show, which sold another 45,000 tickets.

Come to think of it, you're probably right. But it does seem as though he staggers these announcements of shows so each one has maximum impact, to make sure each venue fills up. Like announcing Albany, NY, making people wonder, "Will he do New York City? What if he doesn't? Maybe I should just buy tickets for Albany." And then that venue is more likely to sell out. So, very similar concept, I think.

?We haven't gotten any concrete plans except in April, I think we're going back to Japan. But other than that, we haven't filled in. I've got some other little things to do in the meantime. I'm going to do a little bit of writing.? - from one of the 10 interviews by satellite in the US this morning.

Cool. But what is this last paragraph all about????? A new Paul McCartney album, ?Live at the Electric Proms 2007,? quietly debuted this month on iTunes in the U.S. and several other countries, including Sweden, Mexico and Brazil, but strangely, not in the UK. The 17-track album includes several songs McCartney has not performed live on his recent Out There! tour, including ?Hey Jude,? ?Live and Let Die,? ?Baby Face,? ?Blackbird,? ?Back in the USSR,? ?Band on the Run,? ?Elearnor Rigby,? ?Calico Skies,? ?Get Back,? ?Got To Get You Into My Life,? ?I Saw Her Standing There,? ?Flaming Pie,? ?Only Mama Knows,? ?Dance Tonight,? ?Lady Madonna,? ?Magical Mystery Tour? and ?Let It Be.?
We are talking about this on another thread. I have a bootleg DVD (high quality) made in Argentina of the entire show. (in London at the Roundhouse Oct. 25, 2007) This is an official CD (I mean download)

Probably read about the Electric Proms bit on here.
No, I read it first on Beatles Examiner.

That Roundhouse digital release is through BBC, probably some old license from 2007. Available in HD since the original broadcast. On an interesting note, the always overly diplomatic band members had some pretty striking comments on this show: "NOT our favorite show... I wish they'd pull it!" (

)Nor mine. Surprised it is available. Sub par McCartney. His voice is not at all good at this gig. I've had the boot for many years and literally watched it just once! Gimme Tokyo 13, Quebec 08 or St Petersburg 04. These are the ones I spin most.
