Paul McCartney 2015 Rumors
-
Ok. Thought it was time to make the thread; I've heard a buzz about Australia from several sources for early 2015. Don't know if it will happen (more than 50/50) but then again, don't quote me on it if it doesn't happen. Also, heard a rumor from an inside source that Paul may be heading to the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut next year for a gig. I'm skeptical because it's only 8,000 seats. Then again, Elton played there last year, and Arcade Fire and Bob Dylan as well. You never know. Feel free to add rumors and thoughts. AGAIN, THIS IS ALL I KNOW AS OF NOW. DO NOT QUOTE ME IF IT DOES NOT HAPPEN. I AM NOT HIDING ANYTHING FROM YOU. PLEASE DONT PM ME FOR ANYTHING ELSE. ALSO, THIS IS A RUMOR, NOT FACT.

I think there have been South America rumors, though maybe for 2014. How about the rescheduling of Japan and South Korea?

What would you guys rather he do -- tour and visit a city close enough where you can see him or rest and record a new album? New album!

After NEW, he's not gonna make a "new" album for another 5 years. That's a rumor!

As far as the Bridgeport rumor goes, I would seriously doubt that. Why play a dinky little arena like that when he could sell out MSG or even one of the stadiums only about 40 miles away from Bridgeport many times over. Someone recently speculated that he might play the Mohegan Sun Arena during this tour but it never happened probably for the same reason. Also, I've heard he's not terribly fond of CT. Supposedly there was some sort of SNAFU on the 93 tour in Hartford and he still hasn't forgotten.

Gee when something goes wrong in some places not to his liking, he really has no problem punishing the fans in those places. Not cool.

He returned to Hartford in 2002.
-
He did not play Hartford in 1993. What happened?
-
He was never supposed to play Hartford in 1993, I think that was just an error on the date in the post above. He did play there in 2002. Am not privy to any info about what happened but I was there and recall long delays getting people in. It was raining and most people naturally chose to enter through the main doors which were entered via an indoor shopping complex. I went in through doors that were directly on outside (in the rain). Anyway people were late getting in which delayed the start. Not aware of what else may or may not have happened. The venue is currently undergoing a major remodel/renovation. Hartford is definitely a secondary market (halfway betw Boston and New York) and on that point alone it would be surprising if Paul returned there.

Well, it seems CT, NM and SC are the only places he has played and decided never to return to, so I guess he has his reasons. All are secondary markets, so I get that.

I think he was supposed to play the Yale Bowl in New Haven. Check out this article: http://articles.courant.com/1993-06-03/entertainment/0000101273_1_mccartney-show-paul-mccartney-yale-bowl

Wow. Thanks for posting this. Very interesting. University Stadium in Albuquerque seats 39,000 I have wondered why McCartney won't play there. Maybe it has a similar problem. And yet, the Rolling Stones played there in 1997 with the Bridges to Babylon stage, which was gigantic.

Yes, you're right- my bad. It was 2002, not '93. Oops.

He won't, but perhaps the Fireman will!

In 1990 there were also plans for Paul to play a date at Shea Stadium. As things turned out, that venue was cancelled and Giants Stadium was booked.

A return to Los Angeles, CA in 2015? PLEASE. The Honda Center or Staples Center would be nice. The Forum would not be.
-
If the rumors of Australia next March do come true, perhaps he will use the opportunity to reschedule the canceled Japan/South Korea dates.

Carlos, what was that you were saying about 2015 in Latin America??

There are rumors of Argentina in the first half of 2015, from those who say he will not go there in november 2014. There is also speculation of shows in Brazil, at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, but nothing solid so far.
