How does someone get dead-center front row seats?
-
So why are the Front Row package seats, that die hard fans do buy, waaaaay off to the side? Shouldn't we be in the center for what we paid? I think so. I was excited. Oh, I've got grey hair and have only been buying all things Paul since 1963. That doesn't matter. I talked to a guy in Phoenix before going in to the show that knew one of the local sponsors. His seats were front row center and he paid nothing, not one dime for them. Made me sick. Those seats should not be upgrades. They should be for sale. They will not go empty. The people near me in Lincoln said if nobody sits in those empty seats, they were going to move over. Move us over and let the "upgrades" not see the concert. Or I suppose you can probably do it by Charity Buzz or something like that. :

Billy Joel does this too.

Well then Billy is wrong too.

Like so many things McCartney does, it SEEMS all heart felt and goodwill. But it is just another slap in the face to hard core fans. Concerts are announced, and then pre-sale is announced for fans to get the best seats possible. Fans pay $250 to $350 to get as close to Paul, their music idol, as possible. Then, at the show, where the fan is seated in the third row to the side of Paul, they get to watch some casual first timer fan who bought a $75 ticket, get put front and center. Gee, that must feel great!
You know, I've attended at least one concert in every tour Paul has made since 2002 and it never occurred to me to be peeved because someone else is lucky enough to get their seats upgraded or even win tickets for seats that are as good or better than mine. I've enjoyed every show I've attended, no matter where I sat. If you were one of the lucky ones, good for you! Life is too damn short to sweat the small stuff.

Wow, that really does bite !! Way to screw your loyal fans paying top dollar- SMH !!

Going back to the original posting in this thread, I do remember at the Omaha show in 2005, where me and my friend were in the 3rd row, in front of Brian Ray, and just a bit before the show started, about 8-10 "girls" were brought to the center front row section. I recognized then that some of them had been at the booths for whatever financial service provider Paul was doing ads for at the time. So, I seem to recall, those booths were where these girls handed out information, they weren't selling anything. Not a bad little bonus for working a booth for maybe an hour or so before the show.

Me too. I'll watch the videos on youtube! It has just gotten to be too complicated to merely get the best seat you can as close as you can. The minute you do, someone else has some "special" way they got better seats, or random way, not available to everyone else. Or they wrote a sign that gets them on stage. It is the American Idolization of everything.

The more money people have the more greedy they are and think they are entitled to everything. I'm glad that does not include front row seats!
-
yankeefan, What does "SMH" mean?

Shake my head.

If someone from MPL is holding front row tickets back to upgrade fans I think that a great idea. At the very least it keeps those tickets out of the hands of scalpers. And that's never a bad thing.
-
You mean charging $250 for a floor seat ISN'T scalping???

But, at least fans in the cheap seats (lucky ones) get to have a pleasant surprise and a nice upgrade. I know I cannot afford more than the $89.50 seats, and to be upgraded would be the thrill of a lifetime. Holding the seats for upgrades certainly beats a bunch of soulless scalpers gobbling them up, charging ridiculous prices, and them being empty.

Believe me, from the perspective of someone who can only pay $75 for a ticket, I do think it is very cool to be upgraded.

Ticket prices are really high. If I remember right the WHO were charging $250.00 for seats at MSG during their Quadrophenia tour which were 20 rows plus from stage and that has to be 12 to 15 years ago. I like the WHO not to disrespect anybody's opinion but in my opinion they are NO McCartney! I have seen upgrades to 1st row at McCartney shows from every walk of life. Young women, disabled people, and all ages and guys and well as women. Look on secondary markets that sell tickets. The prices for close floor seats are astronomical. A lot of them sell, and happily some don't. I wish the tickets were cheaper, but it is what it is. I think a lot of people that buy the packages to sell that include sound check have to eat them sometimes. $2000.00 or $1500.00 without the soundcheck on the secondary market don't sell to well even in NY or LA. You could easily buy them when they go on sale. Some places that McCartney is playing still have Hot Sound Packages for sale today. I love when the show comes close and they have to take a loss! Prices that high are tough to take. But I would rather the artist include sound check and whatever else rather then them selling the first 8 to 10 rows for $250.00 or whatever and then seeing them for sale on scalper sites for a lot more. Just my opinion.

People with money can get front row center tickets. I've seen it. I am also tired of the same basic set list for years now. No longer brings me pleasure so why spend the money.
