"Out There" 2013 Setlist Critique and Suggestions

Don't get me wrong...I'd LOVE to see it and hear it!!! Perhaps a more likely solution is using the "magic piano" on a harpsichord setting? It's just a keyboard hiding in that shell anyone...

Really? I've seen a video where he goes to play Lady Madonna and it's gone way out of tune. Probably the biggest advantage of keyboards over acoustic pianos is they never need to be tuned (it's a beautiful piano regardless, though)

Honestly, I haven't seen it from the back angle in a while. But on the Back in the US DVD, you can see this.

I was giving this some thought, actually and what if he used 'New' as a concert opener? I reckon it could actually work and you'd have Abe do the little drum beat but instead of the Doo-Wop-y outro, we go straight into the acoustic intro to Eight Days a Week?
-
Vice versa would work, too.
-
I REALLY like that! Although, I think it could stand just fine on its own as an opener. But I doubt it will be. This is a tricky one to predict placement for...it could be a good opener, would be suitable in the opening electric set, could fit in well amongst the acoustic middle, or the magic piano set, or even the electric closing of the main set! I guess we'll find out in a few weeks!

Yep, that would be perfect. Give "New" some added expose when crowd is excited and then give them their "Beatle" fix with "Eight Days A Week".

I also posted this in the rumors thread. I'd figured I'd post it here as well: http://kearth101.cbslocal.com/2013/08/29/paul-mccartney-talks-new-song-album-his-plans-to-never-retire/

San Francisco 2010. I was there! Funny moment.

I was at that show, too! I remember when he switched to the acoustic piano, Paul quipped, "I like this one better anyway!"

That's a really great idea! I've always been a fan of artists opening with a song from their latest album..

and the tour should be called "New Tour", hehe..

Yep, McCartney did it in 1989 and I thought it was great idea. IMO - opening with new song is telling the audience that you still believe you are a relevant artist and don't have to rely entirely on the past.

I've been listening to Tripping the Live Fantastic! (whatever the hell that title means) and Figure of Eight and Rough Ride both sound really cool in the first few slots. Admittedly, I'm not too hot on the chronology of the time (I've only been into music for about two years but I've learnt a lot in that time) since it was 5 years before I was born

It's Paul's clever take on the expression: Trip the light fantastic, which means dancing lightly to music.

"Shall we dance? This is fun. We should do this more often."

Now, I really like You Gave Me the Answer. It's not the kind of stuff I'm used to hearing him doing but it's like one of those old music hall kind-of songs that just warm your heart a little
