I think you and me are the only ones really missing the live horn section - lol.
No, add me to that list, I love live horns!
see vid....
those are great horns -Thanks! James Brown is always great. And Wix is of course excellent in what he does, but he can't ever truly replace the sound of live horns. Nothing like it.
that horn snippet= is great! of course we Love Wix- Listen To What The Man Said- would come alive w/ horns- sax. back track something~

When I saw James Brown in concert in '98, would I have been disappointed if he hadn't performed "Sex Machine"? Possibly, but perhaps not -- since he'd included so many of his other huge hits in his show. I bought his 2001 DVD, Live At The House Of Blues, and the highlight for me was his new track -- "Funk On Ah Roll." And the audience loved it, too. Loved it. When I saw Tina Turner in 2000, I expected her to do her signature staples: "The Best," "What's Love Got To Do With It" and "Proud Mary" (two of which I really don't care for). Again, the highlights for me were her newer songs, and since she'd opened the show with the Ike & Tina classic -- their cover of Sly & The Family Stone's "I Want To Take You Higher -- the arena was already pumpin'. She closed the show with a brand-new song "24/7," and it was rousing. Why in the heck can't Paul do that? Not even the great Prince rests on his laurels, performing tons of new songs mixed with neglected classics -- and he still sells out arenas.
I remember Wings closing with "Soily". Nobody had heard of it but still went crazy at the end. McCartney opened with "Figure of Eight" in 1989/90 which was brand new and the crowd was into it.
I miss that guy.

personally. I LOVE him.... & for those that have no clue a quick snippet,,,, would be nice if 'Listen To What the Man Said' had some kinda horns like in this
dangin!!!! snoopy- danceI think you and me are the only ones really missing the live horn section - lol.
I'm indifferent on this issue. Brass instruments are nice, but I've grown fond of Wix, so I guess horns aren't so essential to me.
My wife and I love horn sections, my wife was a huge fan of "Chicago" many years ago. My daughters also played sax, clarinet and trumpet when they were in HS so I appeciate it even more. Listen to the old clips of Wings doing it with horn section and I think it really does make a difference. Just my humble opinion - lol
I agree with you Yankeefan, There really is no substitute for the actual horns......see I am not totally unreasonable..LOL Sorry if I offended you yesterday I did not intend to be "Nasty" ....

Kelly - No problem. Actually it is my fault, I should have counted to 10 and let it go before replying - lol.

paul could be on stage for ten hours and we would still say I wish he had played ....
That is true... It's Paul's fault ( ), he has the best back catalogue of anyone out there!
-
At this point in the game, Paul McCartney can play whatever he chooses on stage. I have no problem with that, I think all of his set lists are stellar and amazing. Having said that, there really isn't anything that would make me pay such high, high, high prices for a concert. I will pay top dollar if he plays in my town, but I won't travel out of state or out of the country to see this new set list or any set list. I have already seen Paul play LTWTMS and HI,HI,HI in 1976! He is not going to top those performances this time 'round.
-
I see we're back to a static set list. Yawn....

I've seen a few people saying that they think Paul will take out Hope of Deliverance in the states, you guys think there is any chance he replaces it with A Day in the Life?

If he's going to replace it - just because the US audience needs to be spoon-fed and can't handle a good song which coincidently wasn't a huge hit in the US : - it will be swapped with one (semi-)acoustic song: 'Things We Said Today', 'I'm Looking Through You' or 'Two Of Us' again. Or something else.

I wouldn't mind seeing it not switched out at all but if it were switched out for a hit song in the U.S. that I know better than I wouldn't cry about it either. You are spot on though, we certainly do love being spoon-fed hit songs.

God, I hope not. I'm ready for something new, and something I've wanted to hear for quite a long time now. Bring on HOD!

I've sold on my ticket to Vienna. No point going to a gig that I'd DEFINITELY walk out of at the half way point after the bulk of 'surprises' and when things get Beatlesy and boring.
After all of your support for Paul in your small amount of posts, I'm sure he'll be heartbroken that a mega fan has walked out of his show. :

Yeah!!! Right on!! Stick it to the man and sell those tix! Stay home! That'll show 'em! Who needs to hear boring Lovely Rita live, when you've got Bogey Wobble on cd in your living room? (facepalm!)
I'm not trying to stick it to the man, I'm just refusing to see a handful of new songs and a bucketload of the same old same old. I hope the person who has bought them enjoys the show, but I'd rather avoid the evil glares of the kiss ass fans who worship everything Macca does as I get up and walk out half way through the show when it turns Beatlesy boring.
Do you know nothing about Paul or his concerts over the past 12 or so years? The fact that he's changed that many songs is a miracle. Again, I'm sure Paul will be absolutely crushed at you not being there, as all of your seat neighbors who are going to miss your grumbling and sighing the whole show. :

Please apply cold water to that burn

You tell him Jen! Fair enough if people have a few grumbles about a static set list but to dismiss all Beatles work as boring is ludicrous. It's as ridiculous as the Beatle fans who dismiss the solo work! It's all Paul, just because Lovely Rita was done with The Beatles and you class yourself as a solo fan it doesn't mean it's not still an incredible song!! Idiot!
