"Out There" 2013 Setlist Critique and Suggestions

I realize I do not have to come on here, I like to come on to see if there is some intelligent, informed opinions not just bitching over and over and over again. It is kinda like when you have a kid on a trip and they keep saying "are we there yet" you still love your kid but you want them to eventually quit asking. I too think it is disrespectful to constantly bitch about what the man plays.
Just curious. Why is it disrespectful to want a performer to play more songs from his entire 50yr career than just a 15 year period? I will also add that McCartney tours rather freqently so that is why there is more discussion about his setlist.

I certainly don't mean to sound like I'm telling anyone what to do, but if you are fed up with set list debate then why enter a thread called "Out There 2013 Setlist Critique and Suggestions"? If it bothers you that much then I would perhaps suggest you stay away from threads like this, then you'll not be bothered.

I've heard every reason imaginable why McCartney has to play a Beatle heavy setlist. I'm sorry but after almost THREE DECADES those reasons just don't fly with me anymore! Some say he has to think about the first timers, well I say McCartney has thought about them long enough. Some say people only want to hear the Beatles, well we won't know until he decides to play more of his other music. Some want McCartney to breath his very last breath singing a Beatle song. I want him to showcase more of his fantastic career, and I don't see anything wrong with wanting McCartney to perform more of his music! I'm not satisfied with the predictable, why does McCartney have to repeat songs, why not change up and play totally different and totally new songs, why repeat songs over and over. The man has the material?

Damn...when we agree...we AGREE.

its a difficult one if you only saw paul live once you would be thrilled by the set list. If you go and see the stones you want them to play satisfaction and jumping jacj flasch etc. So for the non hardcore fans they want hey jude and yesterday. I agree there are are a lot of songs he has written since 1980 that he has never played live that I would love to see him do. Lets just be thankful that he is still touring and we still have the chance to see him

I've sold on my ticket to Vienna. No point going to a gig that I'd DEFINITELY walk out of at the half way point after the bulk of 'surprises' and when things get Beatlesy and boring.

I don't think anyone has been bitchy. Paul has changed the set list, the new Wings (and Another Day) songs sound fantastic. Your Mother Should Know, great to get an airing, Eight Days A Week, good but he has much stronger. I think some are just saying it has almost become too Beatle heavy and I don't mean that disrespectfully! I love all of Paul's career, I think we're just saying it would be great to hear some more recent stuff, there are so many wonderful songs to choose from.

absolutly right! The keyword is balance in my opinion! A Setlist with 1/3 Beatles, 1/3 Wings, 1/3 Solo would be incredible for us "hardcore fans", but will probably never happen. Therefore the best compromise could be 1/2 Beatles and 1/2 Wings/Solo stuff. That means around 17 Songs, that's 5 Wings/Solo songs more than now. That should be a simple solution for all.

I'm just really excited that Paul made so many changes to the set list. Did he make all of the changes that I wanted him to make? No. Did he cut the songs I would have wanted him to cut and add the ones I would have preferred? No. But after people here complaining for months and months now about how static the set list was, he has done a major overhaul. And I can't wait to see how it comes together live. I think he'll stick to the same set list for the 3 Brazil shows (after all, he's gotten all the headlines he's going to get in the US and British papers out of a show played in Brazil), and then he'll make a few additions/subtractions when the show arrives in the U.S. to generate more media buzz. Well, that's what I'd do.

Yeah!!! Right on!! Stick it to the man and sell those tix! Stay home! That'll show 'em! Who needs to hear boring Lovely Rita live, when you've got Bogey Wobble on cd in your living room? (facepalm!)

I could listen to "Let It Be" or "Golden Slumbers" live 500 times and never get tired of them... same with "Helter Skelter", "Blackbird", "Band on the Run", "Maybe I'm Amazed", Live and Let Die" and even "Hey Jude". I couldn't imagine leaving the show midway... The way I see it, when I go to the show in July, I'm likely going to hear at least 10 songs I've never seen Paul play before... I'm happy

I'm not trying to stick it to the man, I'm just refusing to see a handful of new songs and a bucketload of the same old same old. I hope the person who has bought them enjoys the show, but I'd rather avoid the evil glares of the kiss ass fans who worship everything Macca does as I get up and walk out half way through the show when it turns Beatlesy boring.

paul could be on stage for ten hours and we would still say I wish he had played ....

Even the very idea of leaving a concert early is a sign of sheer disrespect, and not something any actual Paul McCartney fan would do. And furthermore, it's no great secret that Paul's shows have been Beatles-heavy since... i don't know, the last 24 years.... so why you would have bought tickets and expected different, is beyond me. But you sold... so, good for you!... enjoy your evening at home. Signed, The Kiss @#$ Worshippping Fans Of Paulmccartney.com

Nice. : But if you want to have a temper tantrum in the middle of the show because Paul didn't pick your preferred set list, I doubt most of the people who are there to have a good time would care. I mean, we're there to see Paul. Not you.
