"Out There" 2013 Setlist Critique and Suggestions

left hand man:
That's not true, because McCartney has known all along that he would never ever retire! The man himself has said that when he gets even older they will have to drag him off the stage, those are his very own words!
Wow! Ok!
-
?Not many people may know this, but George was a really good ukulele player,? McCartney said. For ?Blackbird,? McCartney shared that he wrote the song in response to seeing all the civil rights struggles happening in the South, including Memphis.

All I know is that every tour that comes anywhere near me, I attend, because as much as I want to believe that Paul is going to tour forever, you just never know what will happen from one day to the next. The man is the youngest 71 I have ever seen, but I'm not foolish enough to think that there are countless tours on the horizon. I am taking my 77 year old mother with me to the show in Ottawa. She is only 6 years older than Paul but the difference in their health is striking.

Yeah it is. You're just not a careful reader!

I am glad I have seen him eight times. Great artist and performer. But most of his shows are behind him. I think it is cool you are taking your mom, my sis took my dad (who recently passed away) to see Paul in 2010 when he was 81 and he loved it!
-
Thanks. My mom has never seen him live. It's so funny, because I got into Wings and then Beatles when I was in my teens (mid-70s) and my mom used to say "turn that stuff off!" or "turn that down!". Now what does she listen to? "Oldies" stations that play Beatles, etc. How times have changed! She asked me if she could come with me to the Ottawa concert so she could see Paul in person finally. I am sure she will enjoy it, although it will be by far the most rocking concert she has ever attended.

I think we've seen how Paul will tour a few dates here and there throughout the year as for how much longer who knows but i dont think if he chose to retire he would make a song and dance about things he'd quietly stop the mini tours,no "one last time" type tour for him at least i hope so anyways
-
I don't care if he dares to continue until 2020 at least, if he still can sing many songs nicely, and let aside high-note songs, I'm perfectly fine with it, and if he comes even one more time to Mexico, well, I'll be in heaven. I've only seen him 3 times, not as much as many users I know from these forums, but I feel lucky, very lucky, since I've seen too, that many other people have seen him once or haven't even. If he decides to keep on going until he's more than 80, he's very welcome, and that might open a possibility for acoustic or calm shows.

Paul McCartney is a living legend. Anyone who has seen him even ONCE is very lucky, IMO.

And those who have seen him once usually end up seeing him more than once!

Yeah, well, most here on these forums! I have a lot of friends and family who saw him in 1993 in Las Cruces and loved it. They talk about it as if he played here last year!! Ha ha! They really don't follow what he is doing now and are not aware of him touring. One friend came up to me at a casino gig we did last night and told me his uncle in San Antonio told him to stay an extra day, as he had a ticket for him to see McCartney in Austin! He loved it. Said it was smaller and more intimate than the 93 show he saw at the Alamodome. Perspective is everything!

I read somewhere on this forum that when he does the "Something" number it's ukelele only. Is that true or does the band join in halfway as they did on the last tour? Also, does he do Foxy Lady after "Let Me Roll It"?

Same as last tour. He starts on ukelele and then the band joins in.

Yes. Same as last few tours. It was interesting at the 12-12-12 gig, because he did NOT do the Foxy Lady bit at the end. I was waiting for it, of course, but they just ended the song and that was it. Surprise!

As far as I know, nothing has changed with the arrangements of any of the old songs.

he does this little guitar feedback-y thing at the end of Paperback Writer now, walks over to the amp at the bottom of Abe's drum riser, bends down, and plays a little bit. That's a slight change.

What about the stories? Do we still learn that George played the Uke? I heard the Clapton bit with the hendrix story.
