He readily dropped Hi Hi Hi for LOng Tall Sally & Cut Me Some Slack. So that will probably be the one.
I doubt it. That was a very special occasion...of course he's going to drop a new song over the encore stalwarts.
He shouldn't though! Hi Hi Hi was THE highlight of the night in Warsaw!
Well I didn't say I agreed with the sentiment!

From this interview: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=86983 "I like for us... for the audience mostly... to make it a little bit different, because a lot of people come to see each tour we do [..] so I always think 'what if I came and he's just doing the same show, it might get a bit boring."
I heard that on the radio show-- and was like..OK changes-- which is good~

I know us hardcore fans, whom have seen him a couple of times since his "new" 2002 touring band formed, always would like an extreme fresh setlist but he will always appeal to the ones whom have never seen him before. Since he has gone with touring as "event" dates as opposed to a 38-date 3 month tour marathons since 2009; he has brought out a lot of deep cuts along with the standard "always in the set" songs. Compare what he was doing on his Driving Rain tour to now; you'll see an 80% difference in the set. But consider this; we have and are witnessing for the last 11 years a man at his touring peak. For the better part of this century - he has done more major touring than he ever had as a Beatle, Wings, or solo artist (i'm not counting all of his gigging days as a Beatle from '60-'63). I don't know what the future will bring in the next 11 years but he is channeling the energy of someone half his age. Appreciate this like nothing else. I love Ringo but he can't hold a candle to what Paul has been doing since touring as a solo artist and especially with this current band of his. We are apart of history; I do not think Elvis or John Lennon would be doing this much stuff had they been alive today. Paul is a force that just generally does this for the fun of it; and it still pays out well too.

It is his touring peak, ie he takes very few years off between tours. As far as performing, the 70s and 80s(had he toured) would have been Paul at his peak as a performer.

I'll tell you all what he needs to add to the set...Rocky Raccoon [size=7](and Silly Love Songs!)

Just read the recent McCartney interview on Maccareport. I stand corrected. He said he did have an active role in writing BENEFIT OF MR. KITE. Since he did, I can see him wanting to play it live and get it out there. He also mentioned how folks want UNCLE ALBERT, but that it is a bit complicated to play live. However, he did not rule it out!

That was VERY enlightening! I liked that interview. In addition to Uncle Albert, he mentioned...WHY DONT WE DO IT IN THE ROAD!

I second that! (all of that!). I'd add "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "What You're Doing" to that list as well.
-
Yes I like all those suggestions! What You're Doing would be awesome live.

Beatle songs Paul can potentially play: IWANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND SHE LOVES YOU HOLD ME TIGHT WHAT YOU'RE DOING ANOTHER GIRL WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN TH ROAD WHEN I'M 64 BABY'S IN BLACK IN MY LIFE OH DARLING

How 'bout this? Why don't we just have Paul ditch his band and join 1964? :

I would rather he join Cheap Trick!

From the 5 Paul gigs I have seen, there has always been different songs played each time and would prefer for that to remain. Wanna hear the new songs (whenever that'll be!) and ones like Michelle and Birthday, he never seems to play them in the UK, usually just in Canada & France. I'm sure they would go down well in other countries too!. On a positive note think he's got 'The Out There' show pretty much on the money, classics like Eight Days a Week and We Can work it out, plus deep cuts such as Mr Kite, Lovely Rita, Hi Hi Hi and Your Mother Should Know going along side the usual main stays. I would say Paul has the pick of the bunch, and hazard a guess that more surprises will be featured throughout his touring schedule.

I agree. Why not add more songs from the last...oh say 30 years? More solo songs...please!

For me the current setlist needs: *less Beatles 'deeper cuts' played every single tour in spite of major things like 'Can't Buy Me Love', 'For No One', 'Here There And Everywhere', even 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'. *less of the 'sing-along clap your hands'-factor, 'Ob-La-Di' AND 'All Together Now' is overkill *less Beatles 'deeper cuts' in spite of some of the - luckily since March 2010 we can't say 1970 any more - post-1976 output. Even two will do. Rotate them. *one 'Come And Get It'-like shocker. The man is no jukebox. When you are playing so many smash hits the 'mass' can surely 'sit through' one or two for them lesser known songs, which are just as good as most of his Beatles output. It would cement his solo years even more. *one or two 'surprising rotation slots', like he now sometimes does in the encore. Not that much of an effort regarding repetitions. Could be 'Getting Better' instead of 'Paperback Writer'. Not that much of a stretch.

Again, I wouldn't mind if here and there Paul played some cool covers from the sound checks, like TWENTY FLIGHT ROCK, HONEY DON'T, BLUE SUEDE SHOES, etc. Just throw 'em in at random! Shake things up, mix it up a bit.
