Just talking with a friend about our upcoming 40th high school reunions this summer and that got us trying to remember the top songs from 1976... Billboard #1 1976....Silly Love Songs! Hard to believe Paul hasn't played it live in almost all those 40 years since. Or did I miss it somewhere along the line?
Not played live since October '76, however it was played in 1984's "Give My Regards To Broad Street".
That was a very robotic performance though.
Aren't his current shows somewhat robotic?
I kid!!!

They sure are!

Been too long. Can't recall it. But if I had to guess: Are you referring to the futuristic, white face-paint costumes?

And this was just one reason it was difficult and embarrassing to admit you were a Paul McCartney fan during the 80's.

Yup. That's why I always said I was a Kajagoogo fan! That wasn't embarrassing!

I could never admit I was Kajagoogoo fan. I was too shy.

They enjoyed a nice comeback abour ten years ago. A little more recently, they all looked remarkably spry in this 2010 performance:

"Michelle" have to be in setlist on every concert
I think it is nice change in setlist and he sounds great in that song.

Oui! I'm glad I heard him sing Michelle in New Mexico back in 1993. Wix on accordion. It was great!
-
Just looked at some clips of Michelle. Somebody needs to stomp on Wix's damn overbearing saturation accordian! There were two noises going at it. On one side Paul painfully trying to reach the notes and on the other side what sounded like a squeeze box tumbling down a flight of stairs, the chaotic noise constantly distracting from Paul's singing. Or perhaps that was the plan?

There may be more of this on purpose than we know!

Honestly... I cannot share your style in bashing paul...i am critical as well despite my many concerts and i absolutely not like his set list within this comfort zone....too many beatles songs...and always the same...but your bashing is so unfair and imo nonsense.... I was there...i saw him 31 times since 1993..... He is great for 74 and if you dont like it why you are still in this forum or watching clips? Really dont like this anti pessimistic joy killer style...there are so many fans looking fwd to next shows and you are sending black clouds......ridiculous. He was f antastic! I share you thoughts about set list though. But we should be respectful. I saw my grandpa ...he is 76 ....dont have to start comparing, right? Macca still has the magic. And even very critical friends were flashed about his performance and! His voice for 74. was may last post reg this. Enjoy your love for music.
-
How is it disrespectful to say, "His voice is shaky on Here There and Everywhere?" And why is it wrong to say that, but ok to say his set list is boring, has too many Beatle songs, and is in his "comfort zone?" Come on! Really? We are here because of what you said, Steffen72, he is magic!

in addition to my review about the concert in duesseldorf we thought about an alternative setlist which is better balanced between Beatles, Wings and Solo and which follows the scheme of all the setlist since 2009. "One on one" tour is a further tour which is overshadowed by the big Beatles factor. While a fan for all "Paul McCartney output decades" have to search songs from the last 30-40 years with a magnifying glass except the three songs from NEW.
songs in "( )" we suggest to replace to... "/" means alternate ideas. o (Hard Days Night) She loves you / From Me to You / I Wanna Hold Your Hand o (Save Us) Getting Closer / Magneto and Titanium Man o Can't Buy Me Love o Letting Go o (Temporary Secretary) I can bet / Turned Out o Let Me Roll It o (I've Got A Feeling) Two of us / Another Girl / The Night Before o My Valentine o (Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five) Ballroom Dancing o Here, There And Everywhere o (Maybe I'm Amazed) Beautiful Night / The Back Seat Of My Car o (We Can Work It Out) Things we said today / Warm and Beautiful o In Spite Of All The Danger o You Won't See Me o Love Me Do o And I Love Her / I Will o (Blackbird) Put it there o (Here Today) Somedays / Friends to Go o Queenie Eye o New o (Fool On The Hill) Your mother should know o Lady Madonna o Four Five Seconds o (Eleanor Rigby) Hope of Deliverance / With a little Luck o (Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite!) Beware My Love / Ever Present Past o (Something) Uncle Albert, Admiral Halsey o Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da o Band On The Run o (Back In the U.S.S.R.) Mrs. Vandebilt o Let It Be o Live And Let Die o Hey Jude Encore: o Yesterday o (Hi, Hi, Hi) Goodnight Tonight (short version) o Birthday / I saw her standing there o (Golden Slumbers) So Glad to See You Here + Rockrestra + The End the tour title could be "pure mccartney"
We suggest to replace 15 songs. At the end there are still 17 Beatlessongs and 19 songs from 4 and a half decades wings/solo
Dear Sir Paul McCartney isn't this setlist a great compromise?

21st Century Paul:
BTW, In the "Queen+Adam Lambert" nobody seemed to know what song was the opener. And, to my surprise, people seem not to know that We Are The Champions was the last song, as if it could be any other song... So, I guess no, people don't check setlists before buying tickets. But maybe if they don't like the setlist of a show they have attended they maybe won't buy the tickets for the next tour... (But, well, if the setlist is just the same in the next tour, maybe they don't like the repetition...) I feel like that girl playing bass with Paul in a youtube video has a bigger impact on tickets than the whole setlist.
Eh???
Same thing happened in Paul's concert in Madrid. People seemed not to have a clue that Hey Jude wasn't the final song. so kind of the same conclusion, people don't check setlists. Except for maybe a 1% of the people, like us.
