I'll raise the bar: I'd pay $1,000 to see a show like "RMartinez'"s and "WixRocks!"'s. And I'd bet that many others would join me.
Get rid of Long and Winding Road and USSR and add Spies Like Us and Looking for Changes and I'll be there too
No argument here.

I've been saying for months: "Jet" would be killer to kick off the fist encore. Also: why not close the main set with "Beautiful Night"? Or perhaps conclude the whole night like this:

Still not enough post-Beatles stuff, but they're a vast improvement, nonetheless.

I try to keep them in between by mixing it up a bit. The way I see it is by making a set with a decent mix without and overload on Solo. Leave some room for Beatles songs we don't normally see add a few solo & Wings as well as keeping a little wiggle room for farther changes as well as various song rotations. I think too many post-Beatles songs would cause a bit of a problem with sales as well as casual concert goers. How often do you hear people saying "I like the show but he didn't play many [insert band name here] songs", I don't know about the bulk of you but I hear it quite a lot. I think it's best to for him to possible keep the 37 he has now and drop "Here Today" for "Early Days", then add three solo songs. Maybe add two the encore "The World Tonight" and "Silly Love Songs". As well as adding "No More Lonely Nights" in one of the two piano sections of the set
-
Fair enough. But I think it's very telling that I play the first disc of GENYC far more than Disc 2.
-
Jet! The intro chords scream live concert time people! It's been a set list favorite for so long that now it feels missing. Save Us is awesome and sounding better each time. But I don't think one needs to replace the other. For anyone seeing Paul for the first time should get to hear and feel the energy of Jet. Can't we throw Jet back in the lineup maybe middle of the list?
-
Agree! Jet HAS to be in there, screw all the obscure solo stuff! I also need to hear Helen Wheels, Letting Go, and You Never Give Me Your Money! There so much great Wings stuff that has been ignored!
-
And of course What You're Doing!!! As someone posted, but to the general (ignorant) public that one's a bit obscure !
-
Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually feels "Jet" is essential. When I first heard he dropped it I was honestly a little sad and then we I heard him kick into it on the Jimmy Kimmel webcast I actually got excited. And not too ago many were wishing it a way... Funny how these things work.
-
Would be nice to hear in the soundcheck "Heart of the country" and "Little woman love" as a coda of C-moon. For the show setlist my dream is to hear "Tug of war" and "Beautiful night" and for the Beatles years I would like to hear "Another girl" and "Oh Darling". P.s: I think that Macca hardcore fans deserve to see a special gig with solo obscure/never performed songs by Paul. Also an "Unplugged II" would be awesome!!
-
Okay, let me start off by saying that I recognize that this is probably an exercise in futility: Paul's pretty locked into the sort of show he wants to do, and I doubt he'll change. That said, just a few changes in his current set list could keep the "greatest hits" vibe he clearly wants while making us hardcore fans a lot happier. For example, consider a few small changes to the set he played in Chicago the other day (deletions say DELETE, replacements in bold Setlist: Eight Days a Week (The Beatles song) Save Us All My Loving (The Beatles song) Listen to What the Man Said (Wings song) DELETE Let Me Roll It/Foxy Lady (Wings song) Silly Love Songs Paperback Writer (The Beatles song) My Valentine Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five (Wings song) The Long and Winding Road (The Beatles song) Maybe I?m Amazed I?ve Just Seen a Face (The Beatles song) DELETE We Can Work It Out (The Beatles song) Put It There Another Day And I Love Her (The Beatles song) DELETE Blackbird (The Beatles song) Young Boy Here Today New Queenie Eye Lady Madonna (The Beatles song) All Together Now (The Beatles song) Lovely Rita (The Beatles song) Everybody Out There DELETE Eleanor Rigby (The Beatles song) Ever Present Past Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! (The Beatles song) DELETE Something (The Beatles song) All Things Must Pass Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (The Beatles song) Band on the Run (Wings song) Back in the U.S.S.R. (The Beatles song) Let It Be (The Beatles song) Live and Let Die (Wings song) Hey Jude (The Beatles song) Encore: Day Tripper (The Beatles song) Hi, Hi, Hi (Wings song) Get Back (The Beatles song) Encore 2: Yesterday (The Beatles song) Helter Skelter (The Beatles song) Golden Slumbers (The Beatles song) Carry That Weight (The Beatles song) The End (The Beatles song) No, this is not my dream set list -- not close to it. But it's at least a set list that recognizes the work he did in all decades and that isn't just an oldies show, while still giving people lots of Beatles and major Wings hits.
-
I think he's touring Out There with the strongest set list since the US Tour in 2005. Mainly because NEW is his strongest album since Chaos and Creation. I also think he does a great job getting in many 0f his major hits and signature tunes, as well as playing some deeper tracks from both The Beatles and Wings years. He's never going to please the people on this forum, no matter what he plays. I've seen that here every tour for ten years. So learn to accept it and enjoy the show!
