Set List critique

They were already part of the show in 2010, weren't they?
Sure, but that must have been because he had been approving and helping to prepare the upcoming re-release in November that year.

I've been away for several days, trying to catch up with this active thread! I do agree that "Silly Love Songs" and "Ebony And Ivory" damaged his reputation in the rock world, which is one reason he doesn't do them, but I also think he wouldn't possibly ever do "Silly Love Songs" without Linda. It would sound... silly.

Wasn't "Mrs. Vanderbilt" put in the set list originally because it was voted for by fans in Kiev and after great response he left in in for awhile?

Yep. The reason why "Mrs. Vandebilt" was added to the set list was because of the fan vote in Kiev.

And I have loved the Ukrainians ever since.

That song has my vote too. Wish it was still in the setlist.

Paul McCartney is definitely not the only who tells the same stories on stage over and over and over. As some of you might've heard, Dolly Parton pretty much stole the show at this year's Glastonbury Festival. I watched it -- great show. In addition to new songs, she did her signature tunes -- including "Jolene." After the song, she said that 'Jolene' was a woman who'd caught her husband's eye early in their marriage. Then Dolly joked that whenever she looks at her husband today -- old, balding, grey hair -- she wants to find Jolene so she can come and take her husband off her hands. Funny lil' story. Anyway, I just got a copy of Dolly's 2008 Live In London DVD -- from 2008 -- six years ago. And she told that exact same story. Oy. :

Same vocal takes too .

I'd like to know why the heck he dropped A Day in the Life. Hearing him play that was so spectacular.

Still does not excuse McCartney just because Dolly and some other artists do it. I can't imagine they don't know that there are people who try and see them every time they tour and have heard the same story. Really, is it that hard for McCartney to say something different about George Harrison in his tribute. This is his old friend and he can't just say something about him every night without it be scripted - lol.

Bet it shocked McCartney that they voted for that song instead of a Beatle tune - lol

And the Japanese fans voted for "No More Lonely Nights." What's a legend to do?

Now I am curious about what song a US crowd would pick if they had a vote.

Not sure, but I've got a feeling (ha, see what I did there!) that Americans would vote for a Beatles song.

Sad but true and only because he does plenty of them and not really many left that would not have been played live before.
