Since there's no sign of the "Destiny" theme song out as a single yet, who knows. But maybe it'll be out before the next round of shows --"New" (the single) was dropped on the world with basically no advance notice, so ya never know.

5th-beatle:
If the song from the Destiny videogame has lyrics, it could be an interesting one to perform live. At least he would have a new story to tell onstage.
I can just see it now: " Not many people know it but George was a great video game player. I used to to to his house and , after dinner, he'd get the video console out..."

I feel so guilty for laughing at that one. Nice!

Drivinfan, for that NYC concert McCartney had a band that was put together at the very last second. He had a different keyboard player, if I remember correctly it wasn't Abe on drums, and he didn't have Brian on rhythm guitar. The only person he had that he has now was Rusty.
-
"... the very last second?..." They'd just finished recording a whole album with him. And it is the band we've grown to love over these subsequent 13 years. The keyboardist at the Concert for NYC is Gabe Dixon (who lives in my city), who refused to join the 2002 tour because he had his own band.

The game itself is being released tomorrow; I think the stories mentioned that the single was to come out after the game was released, so after tomorrow, anything goes. http://www.destinythegame.com/game

Audi, you say they had just recorded an album with him? How is that when Brian, Abe and Wix weren't with him on that NYC concert, in fact if I remember correctly, Brian and Abe hadn't even been asked to join the band yet.
-
You must be getting old, "left hand man." I've already explained Wix's absence, but Abe was absolutely on the kit that night. You're right: Brian was not there.
-
Audi, no doubt I'm getting older! My point is, McCartney hadn't even officially formed his band at that time so how could they have recorded together, in fact this was Rusty's very first gig with McCartney, and as you said, Wix wasn't there and neither was Brian. Brian Ray hadn't even been asked to join the band yet? By the way, not arguing, just wanting clarification.

True -- not officially assembled. But it's not like McCartney had to scramble in a panic to assemble a rhythm section. Rusty and Abe played on Driving Rain, so they were on Paul's radar. Brian Ray was definitely recruited by Abe, as the two were already friends.

Abe , Rusty and Gabe were the musicians Paul used on his Driving Rain sessions (February to June, 2001) and used them as his band for an L.A. benefit later in June as well as the Concert For New York City on Oct. 20. As Audi mentioned, Brian didn't appear until the Super Bowl pre-show gig in February 2002, and Gabe deciding not to tour with Paul (?????) , but rather form his own band.

I'm not even 100% convinced Paul knew he was going to tour until some point shortly after 9/11...he mentioned 'healing America' (not sure of his exact words) during some interviews and the vibe I had seemed to fit along with his words

I read somewhere that he was planning to do a show in Moscow (at the Red Square), but after 9/11 he decided it would make more sense to do the Concert For New York, the Super Bowl and the 2002 US tour. He was quite moved by the tragedy, so maybe that was his way of giving something back, after everything the country did for him and his career throughout the decades?

Another one of my predictions: This new tribute-album that's due in November will lead to a tribute-concert similar to the 30th Anniversary tribute show that honored Bob Dylan in '92. Paul's band backs up a lot of the artists on the album, and they could easily be the "house band" for such an event. Have you guys heard about the album? It's called The Art Of McCartney: The Art Of McCartney Track List: 1. Billy Joel - "Maybe I'm Amazed" 2. Bob Dylan - "Things We Said Today" 3. Heart - "Band on the Run" 4. I doubt we will ever see that happen. There are just too many names. Look at what & who are involved in George Fest. http://www.axs.com/star-studded-benefit-will-honor-george-harrison-in-los-angeles-18496

This looks cool!! I love hearing songs as done by other artists, always brings a fresh perspective to the music!
-
I wouldn't say that's too many. I think it could happen but, I doubt it will. That still sounds like a remarkable album though! And just think, at least there would be a concert event taking place that represented a broader chunk of Paul's career than he does!

Why there are people still doing "yesterday" cover?? I can't wait to hear "On my way" by B.B.King and "Wanderlust" by Brian Wilson!

This is purely my personal experience, but I might be able to provide something of an "outsider" perspective to this conversation. I have been a life long Beatles fan, but knew VERY little about Paul's solo material (I could have named a grand total of three songs, Maybe I'm Amazed, Live and Let Die and My Brave Face). I first got the chance to see Paul at last year's Outsidelands festival in SF and I knew nothing about his set-lists at all, but to be honest I was really hoping to hear as many Beatles songs as possible. I had nothing at all against his solo work, but my perspective was "this is my first and maybe only chance I will ever have to see one of the Beatles in concert, so I hope I hear some classic Beatles songs". After seeing the concert, I loved the set-list. Since that time I have gotten into Paul's solo/Wings work (I wish I had done so sooner, I love it). I completely understand why Paul fans want to hear a wider variety of his work, and when I got to see him again this year I was a little surprised at how similar the set-list was. But as a random Beatles fan/member of the general public attending my first show, I was definitely hoping to hear Beatles songs.
