It Was 60 years ago today...

It was on this day in 1957 when Paul McCartney and John Lennon first met. "Imagine" if that meeting never took place... On second, let's not! https://www.beatlesbible.com/1957/07/06/john-lennon-meets-paul-mccartney/

Hi LiveForever! How are you? You need to come on the forum more often where you belong! It was fate, it was destiny, it was meant for John and Paul to meet! The day John met Paul, the world would never be the same again!

"6 July 1957 was a pivotal day for the history of modern music: it was the day that John Lennon met Paul McCartney for the first time. In the afternoon the Quarrymen skiffle group played at the garden fete of St Peter's Church, Woolton, Liverpool. The performance took place on a stage in a field behind the church." A Divinely arranged meeting indeed!

Just saw on the Yahoo Home Page this article about it being 60 years ago to the day that John and Paul met. a lot of milestones this year!

Hi and thanks! As you can see I've been a member for almost 12 years now and tend to be more active around the shows I see - in fact I joined the day after I saw him for the second time in 2005 (and I just happen to be seeing him tomorrow too)! But I took a bit of a break a couple years back due to some negativity in the "Rock Show" forum, mainly related to set list criticisms and venue critiques, etc. But I am back and hoping to post more often!

I don't see it now either! It was another "IT WAS 60 YEARS AGO TODAY!" thread, I think it was deleted! It doesn't matter to me, it was the thought that counts.

Best avoid the set list thread then, because criticisms still abound! (And will continue once the concerts start up tomorrow night) I'm going to avoid it and the Miami and Tampa threads. I see him on the 13th in Duluth, GA. Hope you enjoy him in Miami!

John & Paul apparently were introduced in the scout hut where the Quarrymen were storing their instruments between their two afternoon sets, although with displays/events overrunning, their second performance didn't take place in the end. Their is also strong evidence to suggest that Paul then rode home on his bike to fetch his guitar and then met up with the Quarrymen again in the church hall. After 60 years, who can really remember accurately the true sequence of events. At least the date is right.

We can all thank Ivan for changing the course of music history!
-
Ivan Vaughan will forever be remembered as the friend that introduced John Lennon to Paul McCartney! Thank you Ivan! R.I.P. Ivan Vaughan - Born 18 June 1942, Died 16 August 1993 at age 51.

I need to raise some money and write a book. Do you think anyone would buy it? I've practically written a book here on the board over the years. In your profession, you have probably met a lot of people with a lot of knowledge about such things? Yes... I firmly believe that The Beatles were and are a very timely example of Divine Providence for the entire human race!
