Hunter Davies Memoir Comes Out
-
"A Life in the Day" by Beatles biographer ("I was the only authorized Beatles biographer) Hunter Davies has been published by Simon and Shuster, with excerpts in Daily Mail Online. Features anecdotes about Paul, Linda, John, Aldous Huxley and Cole Porter which are fairly interesting. Davies' wife Margaret wrote the novel "Georgy Girl" on which the popular classic Brit film was based and Davies wrote the Swingin' 60's in London movie "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush." His memoirs are written in a fast breezy shallow style, as if parts were just dictated. He must realize his book will probably be of interest mainly for the Beatles-related fare. Yet he did have dealings with other British notables as well.

Interesting.

In the excerpt, Hunter Davies touches on his wife being stricken with cancer. It makes you wonder how that turned out for them, and hope she recovered. So, the only interest to this book isn't Beatles-related; it's human interest as well. Anecdotes of other famous 1960s stars besides the Fabs also stimulate some attention and curiosity.
