LadyLeslie:
Tom Murray is going to be at AROTR in 3 weeks (met him last Aug. in Liverpool at the Adelphi and also bumped into him on the elevator at AHDN hotel!) Going to buy his Mad Day Out book since now I can get it home (in a car as opposed to on a plane!) Paul cracks me up in this one

I wonder what Paul is trying to say in that last photo We ought to have a "caption this" thread That's great you got to meet Tom Murray, and will get to see him again and have the Mad Day Out book. You'll no doubt be able to get a copy autographed. I'm interested in knowing more about how to purchase the book, I didn't see it on Amazon. More info may be on his FB page at https://www.facebook.com/The-Beatles-Tom-Murrays-Mad-Day-Out-1968-328491674011412/. A post on his FB page says he was involved in the "Finding Lennon" film also. Am looking forward to seeing that too, in addition to getting a copy of his book

There were two photographers there that day. Not sure if Tom took this pic, or he is the guy in the pic

Thanks, Nancy! This is a photo of Tom Murray from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1252264/John-Lennon-plays-dead-poignant-unseen-photo-left-bank-vault-30-years.html - could he be the Photographer in the photo you posted? When looking at Tom Murray's photos online, I didn't realize he was the one who took the "Paul in Chains" photos... or that they were taken on the "Mad Day Out" (I'd post more examples of them but they're so hot I wouldn't want them to trip a circuit and cause the server go down... people are depending on the site now more than ever to get info for their concert tickets! ) Not sure what Paul's inspiration was, in having these photos taken, but maybe he was thinking of the Carole King song that the Beatles covered in their "Please Please Me" album Chains, my baby's got me locked up in chains And they ain't the kind that you can see Whoa, oh, these chains of love got a hold on me, yeah Chains, well I can't break away from these chains Can't run around, 'cause I'm not free Whoa, oh, these chains of love won't let me be, yeah I wanna tell you, pretty baby I think you're fine I'd like to love you But, darling, I'm imprisoned by these Chains, my baby's got me locked up in chains And they ain't the kind that you can see Oh, oh, these chains of love got a hold on me Please believe me when I tell you Your lips are sweet I'd like to kiss them But I can't break away from all of these Chains, my baby's got me locked up in chains And they ain't the kind that you can see Whoa, oh, these chains of love got a hold on me, yeah Chains, chains of love..."

Yeah, like I said, I don't know if that is Tom in the photo, or he took the photo. I will ask him when I see him.

What's John doing on the left?! Taken in late summer/early fall of 1962. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/njr/Paul%20McCartney%20and%20The%20Beatles/Beatles_1962b_zpsf2527961.jpg
Maybe the reason John is on the left is because it's a reverse image.... and if you flip it horizontally, where he's on the right, maybe that's how it should be. The Beatles name on the drum set is covered up, but I saw there's lettering on the backdrop... couldn't tell if the lettering is reversed or not. I think I need glasses I've noticed several photos on Getty Images are posted "in reverse" or mirror image... with lettering or signs behind them backwards.. and when I flipped them it was how they should be. Example of reversed image (without lettering) is http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/english-pop-group-the-beatles-posed-on-a-staircase-in-1964-news-photo/546307283#english-pop-group-the-beatles-posed-on-a-staircase-in-1964-from-left-picture-id546307283 This is another example where Getty Images has image flipped both ways http://www.gettyimages.com/event/the-beatles-124030410#rock-and-roll-band-the-beatles-pose-for-a-portrait-in-circa-1964-picture-id74253755 http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/portrait-of-the-the-beatles-from-left-to-right-ringo-starr-news-photo/514890404#portrait-of-the-the-beatles-from-left-to-right-ringo-starr-paul-john-picture-id514890404

It is not reversed because they are all playing their guitars the proper way! The 3rd Getty photo is correct. The 1st is reversed. What is wrong with the Indian one?

Nancy is the backwards queen! When I saw this conversation starting I thought ohoh Nancy will not let a backwards pic get by her.

That's great! Those photos need to be correct.

Oops, there wasn't a problem with the Indian photo at all... Didn't mean to post that... There was a slideshow going and I accidentally copied the link for the photo showing onscreen after the one I was referring to.... The staircase photo was reversed... somehow Paul's face looked crooked and that's what made me notice Meant to post these two links showing Getty Images sometimes reverses photos.... This is the same photo but in one Ringo is at left and in the other he's at right... http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/rock-and-roll-band-the-beatles-pose-for-a-portrait-in-circa-news-photo/74253755#rock-and-roll-band-the-beatles-pose-for-a-portrait-in-circa-1964-picture-id74253755 http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/portrait-of-the-the-beatles-from-left-to-right-ringo-starr-news-photo/514890404#portrait-of-the-the-beatles-from-left-to-right-ringo-starr-paul-john-picture-id514890404

You posted the Indian one again! Anyway, it is correct. The staircase one you posted earlier is backwards. This one in this post (different pic) is correct.

This is the backwards one: http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/english-pop-group-the-beatles-posed-on-a-staircase-in-1964-news-photo/546307283?#english-pop-group-the-beatles-posed-on-a-staircase-in-1964-from-left-picture-id546307283 You can also tell because their suits are buttoned the woman's way.

Dang how did that Indian one get in there again? Nothing wrong with that one and didn't mean to share that link... It's frustrating because I made extra sure that I had the right link last time to the 4 moptops (not on staircase!) one GettyImages must have added another foolproof system to keep people from knowing how to copy links to their photos.... : Anyway.... I just wanted to show you two photos... one was the staircase one.... the other was of the four moptops sitting for a portrait together... with two links to different versions Getty has of that same photo... in one version Ringo was on the left and in the other it was flipped and he was on the right... if you look in the Beatles gallery on Getty, you'll see the two copies of that same photo within the first 3 pages or so..... I hope
