This will be huge.... now, I'm not such a fan of Artificial Intelligence (AI) when they use it to get Freddy Mercury doing versions of Hotel California, Yesterday and I Will Always Love You.... songs he never sung!.... even though they do sound amazing. That is ghoulish.

But, from my understanding, Paul is just using AI to help bring John's voice out front and central in this new release. Remembering that the new songs from the Anthology were recorded off some poor cassette. And the technology wasn't good enough in 1995 to get the voice sounding so great. But they did a reasonably decent job. So, I think, in this case, I think they are just using AI to clear up the voice on a song that John sung and wrote. That's not ghoulish. It's from a song he ACTUALLY sung. They are not 'recreating' his voice for a song he never sung on.

Unlike Freddy and others doing versions of songs they never did. Because that would be ghoulish.... but that day is coming. Give it a few years, and there will be a lot of songs released from artists that never sung the song, or wrote it. It is coming. It WILL happen.

But, this is no different than when Paul, George and Ringo recreated Free as a Bird and Real Love, and added their bits to it.... and they used the technology they had available to make John's voice more audible than the demos. And that's what I hope we get from this new song.... no difference.

Now and Then?.... there is a lot to like about this song, and a lot that drags on. And, yes, George called it rubbish. But perhaps a proper Paul bridge might help. A bit of George signature guitar, which they will have from their 1995 attempt.

Then again... maybe it's a completely different song than reported.

              Either way, I am excited.

And as scary as AI is..... I can't help but be impressed with versions of recent Paul songs where they make his voice younger.

It's not for everyone.... but I think it's been used before, just in a different way.

Looking forward to hearing it! I wonder if Paul has any undeveloped songs partially finished?

Listen again - there is very light drumming in the song!

@njr When I first heard this song, all those years ago, it was far off from being on a pedestal..... but the older I've got, I just love this song. Beautiful!

@beatles4ever-1 Yes! There is is....light and very tasty! I think I was expecting something along the lines of how the drums come in on George's "My Sweet Lord," where the acoustic guitars finally give way a bit....

@toris I still think the best parts of Free as a Bird are the Paul and George additions.

They made out like Real Love was a "new" song. But it was on the Imagine documentary movie soundtrack from 1988. The opening track. I never understood that.

Well, it was “new” in the sense that now Paul, George & Ringo were on it. It became not just a John solo song, it became a Beatles song.
