Questions About Paul's Upcoming Concerts
-
I am wondering about the upcoming shows in a couple of weeks, and it will probably answer some of my questions/concerns. See below.
-
What is the condition of Paul's voice? Studio recordings can help his vocals, but live performance can't hide his potential vocal issues on some songs.
-
Paul is now 81, does he still have the stamina to do a 2 1/2-hour show.
-
I expect pretty much the same setlist, but I wonder if he might do some "McCartney III" songs?
-
Will Paul still continue to do long soundchecks and sell soundcheck packages? I worry about him taxing his voice too much before show.
-
-
- Sounds about the same as he did in 2017 but better than he did in 2019.
- It sure seems like it! He keeps doing them.
- He might do one, it will most likely be Women and Wives
- He is doing the soundcheck package. I wonder that too.
-
-
Just hoping "Father Time" does not catch up to him.
-
He has not done a tour in a while and physical condition can change quickly at his age.
-
He did "Woman And Wives" last tour, was wondering if he would do different songs from "McCartney III".
-
He does not need the money and why tax your voice before a show? Three or four songs should be enough.

I’m agree with you.
-
Yes that true. But he looks always in great shape. So, why not.
-
Yes agree and if I remember well he did an other songs from McCartney III like « The Kiss Of Venus » and maybe, I’m not sure « Lavatory Lil » or « Slidin’ »
-
I agree with you. I just remember reading that Paul McCartney wanted to make it long so that fans would get their money's worth. That's what he said.

I think there's no doubt that Paul's voice now is a shadow of its former self, but in a big, echo-y arena or stadium you don't necessarily hear the rough spots so much. He said in a recent interview (sorry, I don't have it handy) that the set list would be similar to last year, so don't expect more than one song from McCartney III. Last year he didn't even play "Women and Wives" at every show.
-
I expected similar set list but hoped maybe we would hear him play something like "Find My Way". The reality is it does not matter what he plays, the audience will soak it up and love it. Crossing my fingers that he still sounds decent. With the band backing him on vocals (especially Abe) and crowd singing along, his deteriorating voice will be hidden a bunch.

I agree, in the stadium I could not hear the rough spots.

First show in Australia answered my questions.
-
His voice is about the same as last time he toured, which means not great but not horrible.
-
He still played the same about of songs so kudos to Paul for still doing this at 81!!
-
Setlist basically the same and no "McCartney III" songs on first night, that is disappointing.
-
No idea if he did long soundcheck for paying customers, maybe someday can let me know.

3 - We're at the first concert of a tour in Australia with 5 concerts + 2 in Mexico + 8 in Brazil. Totalling 15. Last year, there was 16 concerts only in the USA. Soon, this number will practically double. I belive (and hope) that songs like Find My Way or Women and Wives could appear in one of these concerts in Australia, Mexico or Brazil (especially in cities where there will be two or even three nights) I hope this songs gets into the setlist and doesn't leave.
4 - yes, he continues to do soundcheck. However, something caught my attention that I had never seen before: there will be no soundcheck on the last date that Paul added in Brazil, December 4th at the Arena MRV in Belo Horizonte. Has anyone seen this happen in the past?
