John Lennon Quotes?
-
"We're trying to sell peace, like a product, you know, and sell it like people sell soap or soft drinks. And it's the only way to get people aware that peace is possible, and it isn't just inevitable to have violence." - John
-
John Lennon talked so much before he had to leave, talked and talked and talked. Makes you think he could have been a great effective teacher by profession if not a major musician, but thank goodness his musical gifts could not be denied. Lennon was so loquacious and open, after years of being out of the spotlight-- he wasn't cautious or repressed thinking mainly about his "image." He had so much to offer, and it really hurt like hell when John was so brutally murdered, especially after coming right out and saying so much with no holding back and that endless flowing gushing fountain of speech from him was silenced and especially of course that his musical reawakening was halted.

It's too bad people weren't buying it.

Well, the people who could actually change anything weren't buying it.

Some quotes attributed to Lennon don't sound like him at all Although the essence of their meaning might. It's just not his speech patterns, his way of talking.

Sell...meaning to "Promote"...Not, make money from. And, it is extremely too bad that more people aren't sold on the idea.

^^ I bought the idea of Peace. It is a priceless concept to have in your heart and soul. Peace and Love 2 ALL!

I love that quote!!!
That's probably one of the silliest self depricating statements John ever made...if it's true. I can think of a lot of people throughout history who more closely fit that term, than John or The Beatles.

You're missing the point here, John said it along the lines something like this: "To make it in this life, you have to be a bastard and THE BEATLES were the biggest bastards on earth!" I don't think that John meant that THE BEATLES were actual bastards, he meant that professionally THE BEATLES were the greatest act on earth! That's my opinion.

Thanks, for the rest of the quote, so that it can be put in context.

I must disagree. I think John meant what he said, that the Beatles were b*stards/assholes/whatever. Not all of the time, but some of the time.

Yes, that is how he meant it. I listened to the interview. I will find it when i feel better. But he meant it as they acted like "bastards", "assholes." At least he admitted it.

That is true Nancy R, some of the time, not all of the time! George Martin said in numerous interviews that THE BEATLES were very friendly and charming people! They were very charismatic people, in my opinion, that's one of the biggest qualities that made THE BEATLES what they were. John might have meant what he said, but that's just John being witty! As you well know Nancy R, THE BEATLES were sarcastic and witty people, if they would have shown their real bad a*shole side during interviews, I don't think that they would have made it like they did. What do you think? Take care.

"Bastards" quote interview: The interview of the break up of the Beatles from John's point of view. Best understood if you listen to the whole interview:
*"the Bastards" quote begins at 17:09.*** When I first heard this interview last December I realized how hard it was to be a Beatle. Must have been insane in the end for all of them. -
Hi hey_kittay! I hope that you're feeling better, thanks for providing the b**tard interview. Hearing this interview, from 1970, I can see that John was a little upset and bitter over THE BEATLES recent breakup which is understandable. Behind close doors, THE BEATLES may have been mean b**tard, but in the public eye, they were charismatic, charming and witty b**tard! As John perfectly put THE BEATLES breakup in perspective, it was like a painful divorce. It was insane in the end for all of them indeed. Take care.

Funny how the censor won't put the "s" at the end of the B word to make it plural! You have to type it like: ba*tards or b*stards
-
bass terds aka fish dung...it would appear that throughout the course of time...our 4 good friends...have occasionally been surrounded by... "good?" company

^^ Yes, I came to the realization, which had never occurred to me, how The Beatles were exploited by everyone around them, for their own benefits, in the end. I can see how they could act like a "bastard" to the ones around them as it was all they could do to express themselves and live through it till it was over. I had assumed all my life it must have been all rosy being a Beatle.
