RE: Boston, MA - Fenway Park - July 9, 2013 - ARCHIVE
For those who have seen concerts at Fenway before, will they enforce the noise curfew? They used to do that in some of the clubs on Landsdowne that used to be there before they closed them down and House of Blues moved in. Just asking to decide whether I just drive in or risk taking the T...

RE: Paul's sound checks

Is the song 'Celebration' still a regular part of the sound check set list as it has been the past few tours?
Yes, altho I don't think he's been doing it at every soundcheck, but at most of them.
Also, how many hours ahead of the show does Paul usually conduct sound check? My daughter and I may try to catch it from the outside before we attend the Boston/Fenway Park show...as it is, we're going in to Boston early to make a full 'Boston' day of it (may hit Fanuel Hall first, maybe the aquarium - if the main/large tank is open again, etc)
he's been starting at around 5:30 pm at the US on this tour. Don't know if that will change for the stadium shows, tho.
Thanks a lot - we'll be in the area regardless....if we miss it, or if my daughter doesn't want to wait for whatever reason, there's a number of good restaurants in the immediate area (although I'm sure she'll insist on Unos) and of course the Guitar Center is only right around the block from Fenway...So I'm sure we'll find a way to occupy our time
Ah yes, I spent many hours in that Guitar Center right down on Boylston St killing time before Sox games and concerts on Landsdowne St. Good times

I thought Paul and Linda were only on the tune he wrote, Six O'Clock? :
Hey DrBeatle! Paul does the kazoo on You're Sixteen, Nilsson does the stellar backing vocals. I believe its the only track Paul and Harry appear on together, which is a crying shame! Six O'Clock is another great tune for Ringo. I get the biggest kick out of the goofy 'I don't treat ya like I should..' refrain.. that is classic Macca writing for Ringo.
Ah, thanks for that bit of info!

RE: Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!

Actually, Jane and Linda didn't overlap. He had his brief fling with Francie Schwartz (which started right before he and Jane ended) and then they broke it off and he reestablished contact with Linda. This all took place in a matter of months (June '68-September '6. But, we all knew he was a workaholic, right?
Yes they did my dear! Paul & Linda's "naughty weekend" was in late June 1968 at the Beverly Hills Hotel (Paul & Jane had just been to Liverpool for his brother Mike's 1st wedding on the 7th) Jane didn't leave Paul until July. Then Francie came on the scene. She says in her book that Jane was already gone when she arrived. Then either Paul kicked her out or she left on her own accord around late Aug. Paul calls Linda and she arrives in mid-Sept.
Well, I wasn't counting that, was going more with "relationship/steady" but if you want to get technical then yes, you're right.

Yeah because after Paul married Linda in '69, he hasn't done anything very good. I mean, Abbey Road, Wings, solo...it's all been a bit shit, hasn't it? :

It wouldn't surprise me if Paul announced a couple of UK dates (maybe some Europe) for November/December. What would surprise me is if I was able to get tickets for them!
Doesn't he almost have to? Imagine the uproar if he doesn't play the UK at all this year!

RE: "Ringo" album
It is a really good album, I agree! One of the few albums where every song is written by someone different and it still sounds cohesive.

RE: More and more people appreciating Paul's and Wings' music
wingsoverkc:
The reaction to the Wings songs at the four shows I attended has been explosive to say the least. For some reason, which is very cool, Mrs. Vandebilt shook the arenas; 1985 sounds just perfect; and the reaction to Hi Hi Hi was much louder than Day Tripper. As a 40 year fan of Wings, I am thrilled these songs are gaining a new audience. My two 20 year old children just watched Rockshow with me last week and were literally stunned; my daughter's friend went to Bonaroo and all she talked about was McCartney's show.
That is awesome!

RE: Paul's generosity (Julian)
Not only were John and Paul like brothers, Paul was more of a father to Julian than John was...even Julian himself has said this exact same thing.

RE: More and more people appreciating Paul's and Wings' music
True true. You only ever hear Jet or Silly Love Songs on the radio, *maybe* Wings' version of Maybe I'm Amazed, and that's it for post-Beatles Paul stuff. I'd actually be fine with significantly fewer Beatles songs, only because an even split between Beatles/Wings/solo would be ideal for me and right now it's 2/3 Beatles stuff.

RE: Beatles Books
^Norman has a tendency to gloss over John and Yoko's flaws (he ADORES them) and exacerbate Paul's...Shout! is a painful read because of it. He was a bit more even-handed with his (surprisingly) good Lennon bio...funny fact about that book is that Yoko commissioned him to write the authorized Lennon bio. Norman went out of his way to paint Yoko in a positive light, even though he actually does a fairly good job bringing up some darker parts of John. And Yoko refused to give the final book her stamp of approval because she thought it made her look bad! What a joke! He published it anyway and it's actually pretty good. If he can do that for Paul, I'll be happy, although his deep-seated bias against Paul (as well as George and Ringo) really ruined Shout! (or as Paul has called it in numerous interviews, Shit!).

beatlesfanrandy:
I don't think any truly good book has been written about Paul that covers his post-Beatles years, which is most of his life. All the bios just skim over it. That's a book that needs to be written!
I agree, which is why I'm really looking forward to this Man on the Run: Paul McCartney n the 70s book coming out in September, and even Philip Norman's Paul bio in 2015 (even though he hates Paul, Paul has approved him writing it, so that's probably as good as we're gonna get). As good as I think Many Years From Now is, the book ends his career with 1970, apart from discussion of his painting and art projects in the 80s/90s.

^Even with as much a Beatles freak as I am, I wouldn't mind that in the least.

Seemed like Paul spent the 70's having to comment on what John said. No matter what John spewed out, the press fawned over & believed everything,no matter how ridiculous his comments were.
Yep. I love John as well, but the press were so far up their own asses for him it was pathetic. Even John, once he reconciled with Paul in '74, had (mostly) only nice things to say about him. Hell, he said he thought Band On the Run was a great album, praised Paul's bass playing on Goodnight Tonight, and said flat out that he liked Coming Up and that's what spurred him to start recording again. But you never hear that from the press...
