    • RE: What are you reading now?

Lawrence of Arabia; The Authorized biography of T. E. Lawrence by Jeremy Wilson.

It is a huge book and very detailed. I am early on in the book. Lawrence is 21 years old , at Oxford and returning from his first trip to Syria, where he walked most all of three months alone looking at castles for his thesis. He feet are naturally trashed, so he is taking a cruise home to England to rest his feet.

I have read other biographies about Lawrence, this one looks the best. It is my opinion that Lawrence was mad. I mean his trip to the Middle East that I mentioned seems typical of Lawrence. He was an extremist. His Brough Superior SS100 was a 1000cc Motorcycle (his seventh of same) and reached speeds of over 100+ miles per hour. This was what he was riding the day he was killed. I have a Scooter which does 32 mph and that would be plenty to kill me on a highway.

Well, enough about Lawrence. I love to read biographies mostly. No fiction here.

    • RE: Happy Birthday, Paul!

I apologize. I have been looking for the Birthday thread and I can't find it.

      So sorry, Moderators.

I just want to wish Paul everything he would wish himself for his Birthday. Sending loads of love and best wishes. It will be a day of Paul music. Old and new. Do ya know the first time I saw him, Paul was 21 years old. And now 79. I am so lucky to have enjoyed him forever. The Beatles saved my life. I bet other fans say that too. Not good times when I was young, so when I discovered The Beatles, everything was so much better and I found happiness through the music.

So enjoy the day, Paulie and all of your fans ,I send my very best on Happy Birthday Paul Day to you too.wink

    • RE: ~For Sir Paul Maccartney~ Fans write your messages here

I don't know where to put this so I am putting it here. Sorry if it's in the wrong place.

I have posted a newish photo of Paul on my Desktop and Paul looks wonderful. He is very gray haired in the photo and everytime I open my Notebook, there he is. There you are Paul. I do not know what other  old fans think of seeing Paul looking like those of us who don't dye our hair but I enjoy seeing him looking like what he is- old, like me. I am, of course, a first generation fan and I rejoice in seeing Paul still around, still alive, like me. If he wants to go back dying his hair tomorrow, then he should do what he wants. It's his hair.

I suspect this is a silly topic, but I wonder about old fans like me if they  ever  thought of this stuff or it's just me.

Here's another thought; if you spend too much time reading the news which is depressing, scary, and frightening, just get an old ipod shuffle, clip it on your shirt and listen to Paul or Wings or The Beatles and stay away from politics. Just cherish that this man is still making music and he is a positive guy and spreads a positive vibe. Desperately needed in these dark times.

So- have a Paul day. He helps a lot.

    • RE: Set List critique

Okay, here is my two cents on this topic.

I like his rule about playing his "Greatest Hits"because there will be members of the audience who have never seen him before and they wanna hear them. If I was one of those fans, I would be thrilled to see him and playing his big hits would be a dream come true for me. Ya know what? The first time I ever saw him was in May 2002. He played those greatest hits and it was a dream come true for me.

I have seen Paul  5 times now. The concerts were all nearly identical with a few songs changed up in the set list. I am a very blessed person to have seen him 5 times. As a first Generation Beatles fan, I could think of a gazillion songs that I would love to see Paul play in concert. But, ya know, it doesn't matter to me. As I say, play whatever ya want Paulie and thanks very much love.

    • RE: December 6, 2020 - Paul interviewed in The Sunday Times (London) magazine

Thank you so much for posting this. What a terrific example Paul sets. I am an optimist too

and I do the same thing: look for the best. It truly is the thing to do. Why be glum? I will just bum myself out

      and be unhappy.

I was listening to Somedays, the download Paul has for us. So beautiful. I like it better than the one

with the Orchestra. That album. Flaming Pie. I think it must be my favorite.

What is the status regarding cancelling European shows this summer? At what time will the deciscion be taken?

I have come to the Maccaboard wondering the same thing. I guess Paul and his team are just monitoring the COVID19 same as the rest of us. I am sure we will hear news when it comes out. Be safe everyone. Praying this nightmare will soon be over.

Given that The Rolling Stones officially postponed their tour and are issuing refunds, I expect Paul's people will announce same soon. Everyone be safe and practice safety measures.  There will be other Macca concerts to enjoy.

    • RE: Let It Be / Get Back (the movie)

I cannot find a thread for this so I am sorry if there already is one.

Anyone  hearing about this? I know there are people who want a copy of this or there may be some who have not seen it.

I got a  bootleg years  ago on VHS, so I have seen it. I do not have the tape anymore, you know how video tape disintegrates over the years. I think Paul is helping with this new release. Just speaking for myself, I do not care to have a DVD copy. It makes me sad. Just heartbreaking. I accept that the reality of those days, but I prefer to focus on the good times. The Beatles brought me great joy and also saved my life.

So best wishes to all who want to buy the New Release. After all the music is great.

Ah yes, Nancy, I remember that too. He strikes me as a very jealous guy.
