Get Back won 5 Emmys. One for Outstanding Documentary or Non-Fiction series, plus:
“The Beatles: Get Back” also won for directing for a documentary/nonfiction program, for Peter Jackson, as well as picture editing for a nonfiction program, sound editing for a nonfiction or reality program (single or multi-camera) and outstanding sound mixing for a nonfiction or reality program (single or multi-camera)."
I agree with BJ and I would rather see a ranked list of non-Beatle songs even though I know list would be listed with basically everything off BOTR -lol. Including the Beatle songs in a list excludes so many great songs which you have mentioned. Of course, these lists are subjective and we all have our favorites. Personally, I would have loved the "Take It Away" podcast guys to have done a list before Ryan sadly died. They were really into Paul's solo career and I think their list would have been very interesting.
BJ - If you can, please send any pictures of your trip to my email address. Thanks
We watched this documentary on Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys and, boy, did it ever make me nostalgic for that music period. I am from SoCal and have only had one BB brush. It happened in 1979 at a restaurant in Marina del Rey. I was singing in a band and Dennis Wilson came in one night stinking drunk. He tried to talk to me at break, but as he opened his adorable mouth he fell flat on his butt. I still feel bad for him knowing what demons he battled. It's a miracle Brian is still with us. Long live Brian.
Can't tell you how excited I am for their new Spotify channel coming up. Beach Boys Forever!!🏄🏻♂️🌴🌞
What is interesting is that most (not all) younger artists chose more "obscure" solo material from McCartney 2 (Check my Machine, Temporary Secretary, Waterfalls, Dark Room), Ram (Dear Boy, Ram On, Back Seat of My Car) and even Back to the Egg (Arrow Through Me).
