Never saw that video. Great!! But Paul always put his "emotional shield" before talk about sad things. He said "she liked it" and nothing more, but Somedays doesn't feel just like a love song... it has dramatist, sadness, like a man who's preparing for a whole new life. In the previous months before she left, he always said that everything was going ok and she will carry on. It's in his nature, the optimist and happiness will always be his emotional shield when a camera is over him.

Is that true?
A long time ago I heard Paul wrote Somedays feeling/knowing that Linda was going to die. Is a song made for her?

RE: Paul's Solo (Post 1980) more visability

Beats me why he does not play things from the 80's especially from TOW. The title song is awesome and "Take It Away was a top 20 single. McCartney does not play anything from FITD because once he tours and that record was his most recent release on that tour, he rarely goes back and plays anything from it again. "Hope of Deliverance" (OFG) is one of the few songs he has actually done a few times after featuring it on another tour (1993). I wonder why he feels it is a obligation to do "Here Today"/ "Something" at every show. He has paid his respect to Lennon and Harrison many times now and if he did not do it I am sure the audience would not care. BTW - Does Mick Jagger dedicate a song every night to Brian Jones? Does Daltry and Townsend dedicate a song every night to Keith Moon or John Enwhistle? There are plenty of other examples but I think you will get the point. Maybe I am being cynical but if the roles were reversed, I don't think Lennon would be singing tribute song to McCartney at every show.
Maybe because Jagger/Richards hate Jones, and Paul loves John and George. And maybe because Paul believes that Beatles were the best thing happened in his profesional life.

RE: The archive remasters series is becoming a joke.
Beatles4Ever&Ever:
Wish Paul had sung "The Note You Never Wrote" instead of Denny Laine. Gorgeous song. "Cook Of The House" never should have been included on the album. An abomination. "Time To Hide" may well be the best song on the album. I think Paul was a little jealous of Denny Laine on this one.
Well, Wings was growing up too fast and the rest of the members needed more space in the studio. I think that's the essence of SOS, give Laine, English, McCulloch and even Linda a place to make their own songs. And when the success comes, the egos come too. Wings demanded more space and Paul was feeling the loose "democratization" of the group, and probably didn't like it. I want SOS remastered please... I need to hear Beware my love with Bonzo. Can be a more exciting than already is?

Is there a chance that Paul not "miss" the 80's and 90's? maybe for respect for Linda, maybe because those times makes him think about her... I saw Paul in Montevideo four months ago and he didn't play any song from the 80's and 90's. Why?
I've always suspected Paul avoids the '80s, except for Here Today which is kind of special, because it's the period when he ceased being a hit-maker. That must have been traumatic.
In the early 80's, he had hit singles "Coming Up","Ebony and Ivory" and "Say Say Say". The album TOW (1982) was a big hit so McCartney was doing quite well commercially. He had rough patch in mid 80's but with FITD he returned to form a bit. FITD was #1 in the charts in the UK and reached #21 in the US which is not horrible. "My Brave Face" was his last top 40 single, reached #25 in US. McCartney has played "Coming Up" and "Ebony and Ivory" live. The 1989 tour featured I believe six songs from FITD which included "My Brave Face". McCartney opened with "Figure of Eight" that tour which is the last time he ever opened concert with a solo song. McCartney plays little from the 80's now because IMO he is consumed with feeding people just hits and his latest CD. I don't think the lack of songs from this period have much to do with he stopped being a "hit" maker or the loss of Linda McCartney.
And the loss of John, remember. I think those things can influence. He could play Coming up, No more lonely nights, My brave face... why is he playing Lovely rita or Maybe I'm amazed with his current voice?
IMO - If He can sing "Here Today" for Lennon every night then I don't think the loss of Lennon would stop him from playing other songs from the 80's. Yep, he can't do justice to "Maybe I'm Amazed anymore and should either delete it or change the arrangement but that will not happen.
Well, Paul is a creator of habits, he always say that. And apparently, one of his habits is to play Here Today every night he plays in concert. When he came to Argentina he said in an interview that he has to think to not cry when is playing Here Today. I feel he does it because he feels he has that obligation. Counting... Songs played from McCartney II = 0 (just Coming Up from time to time) From Tug of war = 1 (and just because is a tribute to his best friend) From Pipes of Peace = 0 (in fact, I think he never played songs from this LP) From Press to Play = 0 (it's logic, songs are bad and the production is pathetic, that guy Hugh Padgham made a bad work) From Flowers = 0 There should be a reason.

RE: Favorite singers??
Kestrel:
I mainly listen to female singers,......Stina Nordenstam & Virginia Astley being among my favourites.
About female singers, no one compares with Janis Joplin. The best singer in history of rock. Barbara Streisand is amazing too, and I have a special love for Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane)... one of the bests!!!

I think the same too. The 80's had MJ, Madonna, Prince and many other new artists, and he probably felt like an old soldier in the middle of that situation. The 80's meant a change of paradigm for Paul in many levels. First, he had to make music all by his own, no more musical partners like Denny Laine. Even the best musicians have their own limitations, and now Paul has to face them. Besides, John's death was very difficult to assimilate, not just because he was his best friend... what if they were going back to play together? it changed Paul's future for ever. Besides, we're talking about a musician who knows he's a great artist. When he was working on Tug Of War he had a lot of discussions with Martin because George threw a lot of songs he made for the disc, just because they didn't have level. Maybe that's the thing Paul didn't have in the 80's, a little more discipline. Something he could get from John, from his Wings and from Steve during the early 80's, but after that... well, Press To Play is not a good record. McCartney II is lack of seriousness but is entertaining, and Pipes of Peace is like the great Tug Of War but the compositions are not in the same level. Flowers In The Dirt is a good work, but it doesn't have "the spark" it needs to have. So I think this: The 60's= the birth of a legend. The 70's= the explosion of the legend The 80's= the hangover The 90's = the legend is learning to fly again The 00's = the reinvention of the legend

We should have two or three remakes by year. Look at Led Zep... Jimmy made LZ I, II and III in the same year, and IV and Houses of the holy are coming.
I think what drives these things are sales. Zeppelin's sales were off the charts, so they want to keep it going.
Exactly. But I don't think that Macca's Archive collection is getting longer for sales, there's something more. You're saying that New is delaying the plans?

RE: Off the Ground
C'mon People is the last attempt of make an anthem like Hey Jude. But it happens in many bands or artists... for example, Innuendo is an attempt of make something similar than Bohemian Rhapsody. Anway, OTG is a disc made only for fans. A person who doesn't like Paul's music will feel that OTG is irrelevant, making the exception in Hope Of Deliverance, the most equilibrated song of the album.

RE: Off the Ground
Come on, OTG is a good album. Is not brilliant but is pretty well. I always say the same thing: we're talking about Paul, a man who makes music since the sixties, and thirty years later still can make songs like Hope of deliverance or C'mon people. Is obvious, the inspiration will not be the same.

RE: THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
Coming Up is one of those songs that sounds completely bored in studio but sounds amazing on the stage. Last Flight's version is incredible, his voice and his bass give everything!!
